1 Pound no Fukuin [1ポンドの福音] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | 13-sai no Hello Work [13歳のハローワーク] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | 14 sai no Haha [14歳の母] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I thought the 1st episode was good, but after that it went downhill.
The titleback with Misuchiru's Shirushi was my favourite part of the entire drama. |
3 nen B gumi Kinpachi Sensei Season 5 [3年B組金八先生] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | 3 nen B gumi Kinpachi Sensei Season 6 [3年B組金八先生] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) Serious and compelling drama ideal for students especially, because when Kinpachi goes on one of his long speeches to impart some values to 3B, he loses my attention sometimes. :)There is comedy here too as everyone, from the students to the teachers to the townfolk, seems so high strung and dramatic. Kousaku's illness storyline was a bore but the students had good stories and most of them were good actors. My fave students: Nao (Ueto Aya), Nobuta, Tadashi (one of the Saito twins), Haseken (Shige from NEWS), Mayu. Annoying students: Michi, Miyuki, Akane. | 3 nen B gumi Kinpachi Sensei Season 7 [3年B組金八先生] Rating: 7/10 The main theme of series 7 would be drugs, the most complex one being how the life of one of the students, Shu, is ruined because of it. The ending reminded me again that this is really a realistic drama meant to teach. I was impressed by Yaotome Hikaru's acting in here, he's quite natural and expressive. Ayukawa Taiyou, not so much, he's still a bit stiff XD Other students that left an impression on me are adorable Yayoi, hyper Masato, the 'Shachou' and crazy Shintaro. |
3 nen B gumi Kinpachi Sensei Season 8 [3年B組金八先生 8] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) This was quite a weak season for me... without the focus of a main story/issue, this 3B class is not as engaging or interesting as before. | 33pun Tantei [33分探偵] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | 5 to 9 ~ Watashi ni Koi Shita Obousan~ [5→9 〜私に恋したお坊さん〜] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
99.9 Keiji Senmon Bengoshi [99.9 刑事専門弁護士] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Abunai houkago [あぶない放課後] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) It's a fun and cute dorama with a storyline that gets solved every week. It's not exactly Kindaichi since the culprit can be easily guessed but it's still pretty fun. I kinda like that Nino's crush on Ai was huge, but he's not blind to her faults either. It's amusing how every single attempt by him to express his feelings can be ruined so easily. Was kinda disappointed that they chose to concentrate solely on the love triangle in the last 2 eps :( Nino & Subaru are not drop dead gorgeous lead guys but they are so cute and loveable. Especially good acting from Nino, I love him as an actor. | Age Harassment [エイジハラスメント] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) |
Ai no Uta [あいのうた] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I finished this in 2 Sundays... found myself really liking it a lot. I find myself in tears at the end of almost every episode, I probably get touched too easily ka na? XD Kanno Miho is sooo pretty, I want her big eyes and complexion, lol. Her character sounds horrid from the drama description but I found her to be likeable from the beginning even when she was being 'mean'. I love Wakui Emi's character, the female interactions were the best part. I'm ok with May-December pairings but Tamaki Koji looks very, very old here so it was a little bit weird, but I can deal. The 3 kids are so cute and endearing! Especially Dai-kun. Nari looks good enough to eat. *glomps* | Aiken Rosinante no Sainan ~ Mukai Ryuuta no Doubutsu Nikki [愛犬ロシナンテの災難] Rating: 3/10 (Bought & Watched) I didn't like this at all, even if it had Tsuyoshi and Nacci in it. In fact I don't even remember if I finished the last few episodes cos I can't remember how it ended. The main character Arata is just too spaced out for me to appreciate or understand. & I guess I'm not that much of an animal lover either. :( | Aishiteru ~ Kaiyo [アイシテル ~ 海容] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) |
Akahana no Sensei [赤鼻のセンセイ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Akai Ito [赤い糸] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Algernon ni Hanataba wo [アルジャーノンに花束を] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Alice no Toge [アリスの棘] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Anego [アネゴ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) I can go on and on about Jin as Kurosawa but I won't. XD He's the main reason I started watching this, but after this dorama, I fell in love with Shinohara Ryoko too <3 She's really awesome, as is the character of Anego. With flaws, but yet so perfect at the same time. I love the interactions between Naoko and Kurosawa, they really liven up each episode. It's sad to see the status of women employees in Japanese companies though... it's probably good that I'm not working there. | Antique [アンティーク〜西洋骨董洋菓子店] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) This show is quite different in the way it's shot and the story structure etc... Quite refreshing although it can be a little weird at times. The 3 male leads share pretty equal time but Koyuki was a little out of place here. The interaction between the guys are pretty hilarious and the cakes look absolutely tempting though. Takki is an aho here. |
ATARU Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Atashinchi no Danshi [アタシんちの男子] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Attack No.1 [アタック No.1] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) The whole setting of the story is weird, and although it's supposed to be about volleyball, it doesn't feel like it at all. All I see is the players falling to the ground trying to hit the ball during trainings, there seems to be nothing else. How Kozue improves, whether she is really good or not, whether she really had potential, it is not really shown. The only good thing I can see is that Ayachan really has the spark and charisma to brighten up the show. |
Attention Please [アテンションン プリース] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Aya's character is really high energy (in real life she will drive me nuts) but that's what makes the drama work. Fun and cute story, this is the only drama of Aya's that I like XD First discovered Maya Miki here, she's great. | Bambino! [バンビーノ!] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I was afraid of the whole newbie cook plot but it turned out much better than I expected. Watching this makes me crave for some pasta! The characterization is pretty strong, I like most of the people working in the restaurant, like the 'adult' trio, and the regular chefs like Asuka and Oda-san. The thing is, Eri looks so much older than Ban, was that on purpose? o.0 Also, I only realized for the first time that Matsujun's complexion is pretty awful *ducks* | Bara no nai Hanaya [薔薇のない花屋] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) For me, this somehow falls short of being great. The story is good, although I didn't think that it was as dark as what some people were saying. The directing and music were good, there's a very poetic and charming feel to the entire drama. |
Beach boys [ビーチボーイズ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) One of the early dramas I watched. It's very feel good and relaxing. Will definitely like Sorimachi and Yutaka here. | Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) This is one of the few Kimura doramas that I don't like, I don't know why but I never truly got into the story. Yes, it was touching but somehow I just couldn't feel that Shuji did love Kyoko. It was also annoying how they popped in the story of the ex-girlfriend. I liked the supporting characters of the brother and Sachie way better. The fact that you know what happens to Kyoko right from the beginning casts a dark shadow over the entire drama. The opening theme by B'z + clip is really good. | Bijo ka Yajuu [美女か野獣] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Very interesting show! Love the bickering between Nanako and Masa. They look very compatible and good together. I like the story background of a news tv station, it makes the story fast-paced. Nanako is very good at portraying a high class and professional business woman image. |
Blackjack ni Yoroshiku [ブラックジャックによろしく]
Still watching... | Bloody Monday [ブラッディ・マンデイ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) | Boku dake no Madonna [僕だけのマドンナ] Rating: 8/10 Kyon = kawaii, Surumi = bijin .... ^^ I like this series a lot. It's amusing how Kyon can't help but give in to Surumi everytime. I secretly admire Surumi's character and want to be like her. Heh. And I love her hair in this show. The other characters are pretty quirky and interesting too, as is the dialogue. I like the places where they shot this show, it doesn't look like a bustling city but it's still very modern and pretty. Also, it's amusing how every place seems to be easily reached by running or walking. Takki runs everywhere~ |
Boku no Ita Jikan [僕のいた時間] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Boku to Star no 99 Nichi [僕とスターの99日] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | BOSS Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
BOSS Season 2 Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Brother Beat [ブラザー☆ビート] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Nice light-hearted family drama, the way the brothers end up bickering and fighting is amusing, and sometimes the mother joins in too. Crazy but loving family. Tamayama Tetsuji as the eldest son is LOVE! I want a real life Tatsuya... | Bull Doctor [ブルドクター] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) |
Bus stop [バスストップ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I didn't have much interest in this but watched this when it showed on tv. The bus driver is so loveable and enthusiastic and I can believe that someone like Naoko's character will be attracted to him. | Buzzer Beat ~ Gakeppuchi no Hero [ブザー・ビート] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) | Byakuyakou [白夜行]
|
Celeb to Binbo Taro [セレブと貧乏太郎] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | CHANGE Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I have zero interest in politics but they made it easy to understand by going down to the level of a primary 5 student. The cast is excellent from the leads to the supporting and guest stars. Fukatsu Eri is awesome - intellectual and beautiful. The continuation of the Kimura-Fukatsu combination is great! I liked the long speech in the last episode... that was cool as well. | Code Blue Season 2 [コード・ブルー 2] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) |
Code Blue: Doctor Heli Kinkyu Kyumei [コード・ブルー] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I'm a huge ER fan so I always enjoy most dramas like this... the helicopter rides and accident scenes give me an adrenalin rush (!!). Overall, the drama was good and enjoyable, but the characters themselves were sort of a letdown. These doctors are supposed to have gained some experience in other ERs but with the exception of Aizawa, they behave like interns straight out of med school. At least Hiyama's feistiness and makezugirai spirit give her some edge. Shiraishi is too goody, meek and weak to make a good doctor and Gakki's cutesy voice and annoying fringe doesn't help her case. | Daisuki!! [だいすき!!] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Karina has not really impressed me much before as an actress or mode before but I think this is a real breakthrough for her. An equally solid performance from the actress playing the role of Yuzu's mom as well. | Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai [ダメな私に恋してください] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Danda Rin ~ Roudou Kijun Kantokukan [ダンダリン 労働基準監督官] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Dandori [ダンドリ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) The whole series feels a bit low budget to me somehow, and the script/plotlines is quite average. Eikura Nana as head cheerleader Kaname really brings on the charm here, her giddy enthusiasm is quite infectious. The rest of the girls are about as interesting as the story... which is not really. Carlos is quite a funny and sweet guy, Massu and Nana can battle it out in the Cheesiest Smile competition. | Date ~ Koi to wa Donna Mono Kashira [デート ~ 恋とはどんなものかしら] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) |
Dekichatta Kekkon [できちゃった結婚] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) | Denchi ga kireru made [電池が切れるまで] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Gosh, this made me cry every episode. Kids + sickness = lots of tears. I like the poem by Yuika a lot, and the opening title was very nice too. One might recognize many of the kids from recent dramas/movies like Narumi Riko, Yagira Yuuya, Miyama Karen, Kurokawa Tomoka etc... Nice performances from these young children. However, I think they should have one more episode at least. One minute we see Kaoru on the brink of death and the very next minute she's alive and healthy. The conclusion was too rushed. | Densha Otoko [電車男] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) The big hit of the season~ Overall, I would say I enjoyed it, but not as much as the majority. At times, I got a bit tired of Densha and his pals. Gotta give credit to the male Ito Atsushi though, I think he really did a brilliant job. Ito Misaki was really kirakira playing the role of Hermes, she has such pretty and delicate features. My favourite characters are Jinkama san and Keisuke though. Keisuke for shallow reasons - Mocomichi is so gorgeous in this drama~ Jinkama san is hilarious, I love her Darth Vader theme and deadly stare. |
Designer Baby [デザイナーベイビー] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Doctor-X ~ Gekai Daimon Michiko [ドクターX 〜外科医・大門未知子] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Dokushin Kizoku [独身貴族] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) |
Dososei ~ Hito wa, San-do, Koi o Suru~ [同窓生 ~ 人は、三度、恋をする ~] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Dr. Rintaro [Dr.倫太郎] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Dragon Zakura [ドラゴン桜] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Interesting plot~ I feel like I really learn something new, not so much about what they studied, but about the university system ,especially Todai's, in Japan. This is the first time I like Abe Hiroshi in a dorama, he was really cool in this show. All 6 students were pretty spunky/cute in their own way. My favourites are Naobu (Masami) and Hideki (Teppei)~ ^_^ This is nothing like Gokusen imo, the only common things they have is probably the school room setting and Johnny's members. :P |
Edison no Haha [エジソンの母] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) I think I'm slightly bored of love stories and manga adaptions at this point in time, so this was like a breath of fresh air. I didn't intend to watch this at first but it turned out to be very interesting. Nice music as well. Took away one point because of Ito Misaki. She is really robotic and always has unnatural and weird expressions >_< | Eigyou Buchou Kira Natsuko [営業部長 吉良奈津子] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Engine [エンジン] Rating: 8/10 I enjoyed this drama, it had a good combination of coolness and heart. My favourite part was actually the storylines of the kids and the home, not really the racing part (which was quite boring sometimes ^^;;;). The children are really loveable, like Shuhei, Akira, Aoi etc. Kimura had really good chemistry with them. My viewpoint will be like the kids, everything that Jiro does seems so right and awesome. The chemistry between him and Koyuki wasn't really there however, so thank goodness the love story wasn't the main part. |
First Class [ファースト クラス] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | First Class Season 2 [ファースト クラス 2]
| Food fight [フードファイト] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) The food challenges are intriguing to watch, but I got a bit tired of the challenge week after week. |
Fragile [フラジャイル] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Freeter, Ie o Kau. [フリーター、家を買う。] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Friends [フレンズ] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Kyoko's character is not so irritating for once. It's a sweet love story that is realistic with the Japan/Korea parts and the problems they face. Won Bin is so hot here. *ahem* |
Gachi Baka ! [ガチバカ !] Rating: 2/10 (Watched) This was quite bad IMO... I made myself finish the entire series (the fast forward button helped a lot) because I wanted to see the Tego-Massu combi in action. I can struggle to live with recycled storylines but the lines and the execution is terrible. The lead actor who is the 'inspirational' teacher is terrible and has zero charisma. The secondary teacher characters are pointless. Overall, it feels like a very low budget and poorly executed series. | Gal Cir [ギャルサ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) It's easy to love or hate this, and I'm on the side that really enjoyed it. It's fantastically absurd and awesomely funny. I don't know why it has to be believable. I'm so amused by Shinnosuke, he's so different from Fujiki's real personality or the other characters he's played. Geronimo is hilarious! Toda Erika and Aragaki Yui were my favourite girls but all of them were pretty likeable. Nice Saturday night entertainment. | Galileo [ガリレオ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Galileo Season 2 [ガリレオ 2] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Ganbatte Ikimasshoi [がんばっていきまっしょい] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Basically about the 3 years of a female high school rowing team, focusing on their team work and friendship. There's a male team but the main spotlight is on the girls. I personally find it a little slow moving, but I will watch it for Ryo. Everytime he says the line 'Don't call me Boo`', it makes me squee. ^^;;; A pity about Uchi not being able to continue; Junno did a good enough job and manage to portray a different kind of Saburo. After watching the dorama, it makes me want to join a boating team too~ :) Catch! Row! | General Rouge no Gaisen [ジェネラルルージュの凱旋] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Godhand Teru [ゴッドハンド輝] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Gokusen [ごくせん] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) I couldn't stop laughing throughout the entire series. This show is really entertaining, and the manga feel is there, with all the exaggerations and humour. Yukie was great as Yankumi, plus she looks exactly like the manga. All the students were also very good, especially MatsuJun, Oguri Shun and Nari. Sawada Shin is the epitome of cool. Watched it again a few years later and recognized many faces guest starring in single episodes, like Ichikawa Yui as Shin's sister. | Gokusen Season 2 [ごくせん2] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Honestly I wasn't excited to watch this at first as I didn't think it could match up to the 1st series. In the end, I loved it as much and maybe even more. But I won't compare them because it's pointless. Was easily drawn into this series by the end of the first episode, and was also introduced to the pretty boys Akanishi Jin & Kamenashi Kazuya. Teppei Koike was so adorable and Mocomichi is hit. I'm glad they realized that Sawada Shin is irreplaceable and came up with the super combo of Hayato&Ryu. However, I do feel that the teacher characters could be better developed, and Yankumi's new love interest is very lame. ^^;;; |
Gokusen Season 3 [ごくせん 3] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Yankumi can still entertain, but she really needs some fresh ideas and situations. | GOLD Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Golden Bowl [ゴールデンボウル] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Gomen ne Seishun! [ごめんね青春!] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) As if I didn't already think pilots were cool, Kimura makes the occupation look even better. The plot about the growth of 1st officer Shinkai is pretty straightforward, but some of the weekly stories are pretty good. I still think his love interest, a female mechanic like Kou is unbelievable but she suits the stubborn and firm character pretty well. Tsutsumi Shinichi and Kuroki Hitomi were also good in their roles of the more experienced and good mentors in the company. | GTO [麻辣教師] Rating: 10/10 Great Teacher Onizuka! Sorimachi was awesome in this role. Onizuka sensei is my favourite dorama sensei so far. :) Some students are quite annoying here, like the pretty girl Aizawa. But others like Nanako and Tomoko were cute. Oguri Shun was also great as the shy boy who gets bullied. I really like watching Sorimachi being all baka and funny instead of serious and cool because as cool as he looks, I find that he does the baka character so well that it's really endearing. |
Guilty Akuma to Keiyakushita Onna [ギルティ 悪魔と契約した女] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | H2~Kimi to itahibi [2〜君といた日々] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I think this series started out great but stumbled towards the end. Overall though, I still recommend it especially if you like baseball. I know nothing about baseball but they made it seem fun! Even though from the story it feels as though it should be HiroxHikari, I'm all for HiroxHaruka because it just feels right. | Hachimitsu to Kuroba [ハチミツとクローバー]
|
Haken no Hinkaku [ハケンの品格] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) | Haken no Oscar [派遣のオスカル ~ 少女漫画』に愛を込めて] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Hakusen nagashi [白線流し] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Very, very good adaptation from the manga. The only downside is that it's so short - only 9 eps, that many good parts were left out. Inoue Mao is a good Tsukushi - she looks the part and she's spirited and plucky. Some of the F4 members didn't look very F4-ish to me but they turned out to be pretty good choices. Doumyouji is LOVE. | Hana Yori Dango Season 2 [花より男子]
| Hanayome to Papa [花嫁とパパ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I think it will be better if everything was just concluded in 5 episodes or so, it got bland towards the end. And almost all the characters are quite annoying, I don't find myself supporting any of them. Ishihara Satomi needs to improve a lot more if she's still going to lead any drama... I think she is going the comedic route but she's not very natural at it. Junno is just being himself so he still have lots of room for improvement too... |
Hanayome wa Yakudoshi! [花嫁は厄年ッ!] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I hated the 1st ep... then it picked up and I liked it as the series progressed, and then the last 2 episodes really dragged. Basically, if it wasn't for Shinohara Ryoko I would have dropped it after the 1st ep. I ended up liking Yabe too, I find him rather endearing. The Kaori character drove me nuts... the actress was so overdoing it. She overdid her nose surgery too XD She was much more pretty in Itazura na Kiss w/o that witch-like nose. | Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [花ざかりの君たちへ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Hanzawa Naoki [半沢直樹] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) |
HAPPY Rating: 5/10 (Watched) Quite an average dorama SP. The tennis match itself is quite interesting but the rest is a bore. Kobayashi Mao is a lunatic here... she made me laugh so much. | Hayako-sensei, Kekkon Surutte Hontou desu ka? [早子先生、結婚するって本当ですか?] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) | Hero Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Hero Season 2 Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Hidarime Tantei EYE [左目探偵EYE] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Higashino Keigo Mysteries [東野圭吾ミステリーズ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Hikari to Tomo ni [光とともに] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Not my usual kind of drama but I'm glad I watched it. It's a detailed process of how a family copes with an autistic child, every episode is like watching the boy taking baby steps towards achieving something and it's very touching. Shinohara Ryoko was awesome as the mother, I really like her now after watching this, she's a good actress. Hikaru's teacher was also really awesome, I was just wondering how it is possible that she could just tend to Hikaru alone without doing other work. The little boy is just so cute too. | Hiroshima Showa 20 nen 8 Gatsu Muika [広島・昭和20年8月6日] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) It reinforces in me the thinking that war is never good and it's the people who suffer the most. I enjoyed the storytelling, and the ending made me tear a bit. Not very engaging though. | Home Drama [ホームドラマ]

HOPE ~ Kitai Zero no Shinnyuu Shain [HOPE ~ 期待ゼロの新入社員] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Hoshi Hitotsu no Yoru [星ひとつの夜] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Watanabe Ken's aura is amazing... other than that there is nothing really interesting or exciting about this SP. | Hoshi no kinka 1 [星の金貨] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Hoshi no kinka Season 2 / Zoku hoshi no kinka [續。星の金貨] Rating: 4/10 (Watched) | Hotaru no haka [蛍の墓] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) The story is a winner already. Very touching story that shows the ugliness of war. What the stepmother did was just cruel but we also see that she had no choice at all, and she did so after a long battle with her inner self. The pair who portrayed Seita and Setsu are really good... the image of the frail and dying Setsu is haunting. | Hotaru no Hikari [ホタルノヒカリ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) This is the first time I've seen Ayase in such a light-hearted and cute role and she does really well. Cute and refreshing story with nice supporting characters. I can't decide if it is the character Makoto or the actor (maybe both) but you can't feel any support or hope for their budding romance, especially not when Hotaru and Takano buchou have such great chemistry. The scenes at the house were especially just awesome and hilarious. |
Hotaru no Hikari Season 2 [ホタルノヒカリ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Hotman [ホットマン] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Nanami is a super cute kid! Really, really adorable <3 This is a pretty warm and funny family drama, with loveable and noisy family members. However, the 3 youngest siblings seem to be mere caricatures and their characters are not explored much, which is a pity. There is an excess of Shima's smiley face if you ask me = =''' But it's a good attempt at other type of roles by Sorimachi, he makes me laugh out loud at his exaggerated antics, and did I already mention that Nanami is super adorable? | Hungry! [ハングリー!] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Hyoten 2006 [氷点] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) It was a little slow at times, but the story is quite interesting. Pretty dramatic. Felt bad for Yoko when her mom was treating her badly, and her dad did nothing...? I'd rather that she chose her (unrelated) brother instead too... | Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) This is one of those that will leave a deep impression in our hearts and minds after watching... a truly touching story about a girl and her strong will to leave when inflicted with an incurable disease. What I really like about this story is the strong focus on the family. The story really tugs at the heartstrings but is never OTT, I guess it's because it's from a true story and thus is very real indeed. I felt the inclusion of a fictional character in the form of Haruo was very nice, he was another important source of emotional support for Aya. I only wish the real Kitou Aya had someone like Haruo too. Sawajiri Erika's portrayal of Aya was very good, I think this is a real breakthrough for her. | Ie Uru Onna [家売るオンナ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Ienaki ko 1 [家なき子] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I watched this years ago and I don't remember much about the storyline except that it was quite dark. Adachi Yumi was really good here and carries the show along nicely, I'm looking at the actors listing and I only remember her mother and stepfather. I don't remember Hosaka Naoki in this! >_< Erm... I think Yumi has the type of features that is adorable as a kid but looks weird when older....... *runs away* | Ienaki ko Season 2 [家なき子 2] Rating: 4/10 (Watched) Yeah I thought the 1st one was weird... this sequel is even more twisted = =;;; Random things I remember: being pissed off like crazy by the evil woman and her daughters, feeling very sad and angry about the ending with Koichi. I don't remember Tsuyoshi, did he have a big role? I didn't know what JE was when I watched this :P | Ikemen Desu Ne [美男ですね] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Ima Ai ni Yukimasu [いま会いにゆきます] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I think it was hard to take the story and put it in drama form, at parts it felt too slow. Nari, Mimura and the little boy were really good though. Especially Nari, this is the first time I'm watching him play such a serious role. I had doubts at first but obviously he managed to pull it off wonderfully. The town they live in is so scenic and pretty, it makes a city girl like me want to experience living there too. | Imagine [イマジン] Rating: 2/10 (Bought & Watched) I gave up after the 1st episode, so my rating is biased. I like both lead actresses, but the 1st episode was too blah to continue. | Imouto yo [妹よ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) This was one of my early dramas. At that time I was so young and I couldn't help but think that Karasawa Toshiaki was really like Prince Charming in this show, making the whole show really fairytale-like ^^ |
Inu o Kau to Iu Koto [犬を飼うということ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Iryu [医龍 Team Medical Dragon] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) I'm glad I watched this, because I almost didn't. It's awesome! The story and pacing is very good, the characters are interesting and have strong personalities, and the music is great. Quite a few parts that made me go wow. Nerdy Teppei is love (go Harry Potter!), Sakaguchi is uber cool, Inamori Izumi is really charismatic and pretty, Kitamura is creepily fantastic... the entire cast is really good actually. | Itazura na Kiss [イタズラなKiss] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Sato Aiko is crazy here, lol. That's because this was from a manga so everything is pretty exaggerated. Don't watch it if you don't think you can take it. ^^ I'm divided over Kassy - can't decide if he did a great job playing the aloof and bored guy or if he was really bored cos at some parts I really can't tell what the character is feeling. |

Joker Yurusarezaru Sosakan [ジョーカー 許されざる捜査官] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Juken no Kamisama [受験の神様] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Jyoou no Kyoushitsu [女王の教室] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) This is a great drama... a completely different classroom drama from the typical ones. I'm impressed with Amami Yuki (Takarazuka alumni rock) and Fukuda Mayuko after watching this. Maya seems like an insane teacher at first that makes Kazumi suffer hell, but eventually she makes a lot of sense. |
Kaeru no Oujo-sama [カエルの王女さま] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Kagi no Kakatta Heya [鍵のかかった部屋] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [神様、もう少しだけ] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Very touching, has an interesting theme, and my favourite lead actor. Takeshi is so hot here. ^^ I felt that Kyoko did quite well and wasn't really very annoying, considering the character that she played is really quite a brat at times. |

Kimi ga kureta natsu [君がくれた夏] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) As expected, I cried buckets, especially towards the end. The little boy (from that Ai ni Yukimasu movie) was very good <3 Takki and Fukakyon look very matching and cute as a couple, but the focus was more on the father-son r/s in this one. | Kindaichi Shonen no Jikembo Season 3 [金田一少年の事件簿 3] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I like the stories so this series is still good. Although I have to say, MatsuJun is not bad but still his Kindaichi can't beat Tsuyoshi's. I like Suzuki Anne's Miyuki a lot better though. | Kindaichi shonen no Jikenbo (2005) [金田一少年の事件簿] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I'm a huge Kindaichi fan so I was really excited about this SP! Kame's version of Kindaichi is a lot more playful and cheeky compared to this senpais. Then again, this was set in the time of Hajime's 1st case when he was still against following in his grandfather's footsteps, plus I don't see why the characters has to be EXACTLY the same. I miss the old Inspector Kenmochi though. The comic timing and acting of this new one is really... off. The storyline for this SP is too weak, I could guess who the culprit is way too early. >_< |
Kindaichi shonen no jikenbo 1 [金田一少年の事件簿 1] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) I love whodunnit shows like this... in fact after watching this I went to read all the manga volumes I could get my hands on. The stories are really strong so you can't go wrong. Tsuyoshi suits the role of Kindaichi perfectly too. And the classic lines of Kindaichi... so corny but fun to say along with. | Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo N (neo) [金田一少年の事件簿N (neo)] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Kindaichi shonen no jikenbo Season 2 [金田一少年の事件簿 2] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) This one is basically an extension of the 1st series so it's still pretty good. Of course, the 1st one has left a stronger impression in my mind but I still love this. :) |
Kiraware Matsuko no Isshou [嫌われ松子の一生] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) This is pretty depressing, her life just gets worse and worse. And I can't feel any empathy for her for some reason. Personally I feel that the Uchiyama Rina doesn't have the screen presence to lead this and the lead is a very important role in this drama. | Kisarazu Cat's Eye [木更津キャッツアイ]
| Koinaka [恋仲] Rating: 2/10 (Watched) |
Koishite Shinitai [恋して死にたい] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Cute teen drama. I like Tsuyoshi in here, but not the character's liking of the female boss. That story angle didn't feel convincing. Kyoko's character can be annoying at times but her enthusiasm is infectious and I just wanna cheer for her at those times. | Koori no sekai [冰の世界] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) This is a mystery/thriller type of drama which wouldn't appeal to me usually but I watched it for the 2 leads. Wasn't disappointed as the story was engaging and the acting good. It's a darker kind of plot but not slow either, and the ending was well done, does't make you feel unsatisfied. | Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 [高校教師 2003]
Still watching... but way too slow and dark for me to appreciate |
Kounodori [コウノドリ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Kurisumasu Nante Dai Kirai Rating: 6/10 (Watched) It's good that this is just a short mini-series because I don't think I could stand a full length drama with such annoying characters. Only watched this cos Jin was in it ^^;;; Once again, Fukuda Kyoko plays an annoying bratty girl. Why? I think she can act, and can do other roles too. Fuyumi (Kyoko) is lazy, spolit and selfish and I can't see anything redeeming about her. Sho (Jin), her childhood friend, can and has a crush on her. Kaneko Ken (another weird character) is also taken in by her weirdness and ability to do whatever she wants, and wants to know her better LOL, whatever. XD | Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji Season 4 [救命病棟24時 4] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) |
Kyuto [キュート] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | LADY ~ Saigo no Hanzai Profile ~ [LADY〜最後の犯罪プロファイル〜] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Last Cinderella [ラスト シンデレラ] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) |
Last Friends [ラスト・フレンズ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I felt like the story changed abruptly from it being about Michiru to a lot about Ruka (although you can argue that it's all related but...), partly because Ruka's storyline is much more stronger and worth rooting for and also because Ueno Juri is just so darn good. The whole story feels skewed as a whole to me. Still, this is a very oshare/trendy drama that I feel is worth watching, despite the occassional frustration that one might feel when things are left accounted for or not explored further. The SP is a complete waste of time by the way. | Last Hope [ラストホープ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Liar Game [ライアーゲーム]
|
Long vacation [ロングバケーション] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) This is a must watch classic to me. The story is good and the music is outstanding too. Yamaguchi is so good here and she has very good chemistry with Kimura. | Loss:Time:Life [ロス:タイム:ライフ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I didn't watch 2 episodes, but that's okay since the stories are not connected. Nice concept, average execution. The only ones I liked with an actual story AND good acting were the ones with Ito Atushi (densha!) and Maki Yoko. | Lost Days Rating: 6/10 (Watched) |
Love generation [ラブジェネレーション] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) I like the story, the way the show is filmed and the lead actor and actress. They also have great chemistry together. | Love Shuffle [ラブシャッフル] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) | Lunch no Joou [ランチの女王] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Magerarenai Onna [曲げられない女] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Majo no jouken [魔女の条件] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) I watched this such a long time ago that I can barely remember much. I remember thinking what a pretty boy Takki was though. XD (And he still is one.) Honestly, I don't get the relationship, so I'm not really affected by the things they have to go through. | Majo Saiban [魔女裁判] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Maou [魔王] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Mariya
I've only watched episode 1 and put it aside for other shows. May continue again. | Massugu na Otoko [まっすぐな男] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) |
Mei-chan no Shitsuji [メイちゃんの執事] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Meitantei Conan: Sayonara Made no Prologue [名探偵コナン- 工藤新一への挑戦状] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) I usually love tantei stories but this was quite disappointing. | Mioka [美丘] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Mirai Koshi Meguru [未来講師めぐる] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Wacky storytelling + wacky characters = great entertainment. It's really fun to watch, but not for those people who want everything to make sense and be logical. I think this role is perfect for Fukakyon although some may find her too OTT with the cuteness. | Miss Pilot [ミス・パイロット] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Mop Girl [モップガール] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) This was really fun to watch. Keiko and Tanihara Shosuke had great chemistry (of the non-romantic kind) and the rest of the regular cast (the employees at the company, Asami Reina) were pretty funny and interesting too. The plot device (stop touching the stuff of the deceased!) gets tiring after a while but the stories are still interesting enough to keep me entertained. I think Keiko has potential for doing comedic roles. |
Mother Game [マザー・ゲーム] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | MR. BRAIN Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Mukodono! [ムコ殿/女婿大人] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) This is an enjoyable and loveable series. The love between Yuichiro and Sakura is really sweet and genuine and all the members of Sakura's family are really awesome too, from the father to the sisters to the grandsons. Has a lot of silly, cute, funny and touching moments. |

Nemureru mori [眠れる森] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) A pretty dark and suspenseful drama. I feel really sad for Naoki, from the time when he was a kid and till the end, he was really devoted to and living his life for Minako. It's pretty easy to guess who the killer is by the middle episodes, but there are still twists thrown in towards the end. At times I feel it's a bit slow but on the other hand I think it adds suspense. | News no onna [ニュースの女] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu [逃げるは恥だが役に立つ]

Ningen shikkaku [人間・失格]
| Ninkyo Helper [任侠ヘルパー] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Nisennen no koi [二千年の恋] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I was kinda intrigued by the story at first but the plot got a bit absurd. Takeshi looks awesome here though. The music by S.E.N.S is great too, and really gives the whole show a very good mood. |
Nobunaga Kyousoukyoku [信長協奏曲]
| Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) This series does exceed my expectations positively as I didn't know what to expect at first. However, somehow this was not as big of a hit with me as with most people, even though I like gakuen dramas a lot. I read the novel after this, and I think the scriptwriter did a fabulous job. Akira Shock! Best Original Character ever. <3 | Nodame Cantabile [のだめ カンタビ−レ] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) It's quite hard to put my love for this into words <3<3<3
I love so many things about this drama. It already had a great story thanks to Ninomiya sensei's manga. The cast selection is fantastic. It's a wonderful transformation from the manga to the screen. |
Ns' Aoi [Ns’ あおい ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Quite an uneventful dorama. The storyline was quite boring but there were some interesting characters. I loved Yanagiba Toshiro as the slightly perverted but good at heart doctor. They made him look so old here, miles apart from his look in Odoru Daisousasen. The other doctor who is the villian character was good too. The way he talks makes me want to smack him. Ishihara Satomi did ok for her first starring role. | Odoru Daisousasen [踊る大捜査線] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I love this one, it's a real classic. Even though I watched this 8 years after it was shown, I don't get the furui feeling that one gets from watching some of the older shows. Except maybe the fashion sense XD I find the balance of comedy and drama really really perfect in these series, and the cast have great chemistry too. All the characters from the station have such distinct and amusing personalities and the dialogue is good too. I personally love watching Yanagiba Toshiro frown, it happens every episode and usually because of Oda Yuji XD | Oh! My Girl!! [オー!マイ・ガール!!] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Ohitorisama [おひとりさま] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Oishii puropozu [おいしいプロポーズ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I think Hasekyo is more suited for more glam characters XD But she's still so pretty <3 Unlike what some have said, I feel that the pairing of the 2 leads is pretty good imo, they have some cute moments together. The only thing is that the storyline is quite generic and not quite engaging. | Okitegami Kyoko no Biboroku [掟上今日子の備忘録] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
OL Nippon [OLにっぽん] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Omiai kekkon [お見合い結婚] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) | Orange Days [オレンジデイズ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) At the time of watching I could really relate to the story so I was quite hooked on this drama. I liked Shibasaki Kou's performance here as Sae, wilful but still loveable, and Tsumabuki Satoshi was good here too. |
Orthros no Inu [オルトロスの犬] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Osen [おせん] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Story-wise, this is a pretty standard food-themed dorama that centres around a restaurant. However, it is made more interesting due to the uniqueness of the restaurant and the tennen character of the lady boss. | Osozaki no Himawari [遅咲きのヒマワリ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) |
Otomen [オトメン(乙男)] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Ouran High School Host Club [桜蘭高校ホスト部] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Ouroboros [ウロボロス]

Over Time [オーバー・タイム] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Oyaji~ [オヤジぃ] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) A wonderful family comedy slash drama, a really good combination because it makes you laugh and feel touched at the same time. The cast is also great and do a great job - the dad who talks and nags too much but is actually really soft-hearted, the wonderful mum who is really too beautiful and caring to be true but I'm glad they showed that no one is perfect in her storyline, the quiet but strong older daughter, the outgoing and wilful younger daughter, and the directionless and kind young son. Underneath their problems and fights, I see that it is a family that really cares for one another. | P.S. Genki desu, Shunpei [P.S.元気です、俊平] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Papa to Musume no Nanokakan [パパとムスメの7日間] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I wasn't interested in this initially but it turned out to be quite interesting and funny. The dad character is hilarious when he slips into teenage girl mode. 7 episodes is just nice, imo. Sada Mayumi's acting is quite horrible, I wanted to fast forward her scenes. | Papadol! [パパドル!] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) | Perfect Report [パーフェクトリポート]

PRICELESS ~Aru Wake Nedaro,n namon!~ [PRICELESS ~あるわけねぇだろ,んなもん!~] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Pride [プライド] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) | Primadam [プリマダム] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I love watching dance movies/dramas, so I enjoyed this one about ballet. Kuroki Hitomi is still so classy and pretty even though this is perhaps the 1st time I'm watching her playing a more 'homely' housewife character (dark water doesn't count). Her husband is so funny <3 I don't think Nakamori Akina can act very well and I didn't like her character at all. Her speaking voice is weird, but her singing is so good. Stick to singing XD |
Proposal Daisakusen [プロポーズ大作戦]
| Puzzle [パズル] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) I usually like such stories but this was really a weak series. I think it has a low budget and it shows. | Rasen [らせん] Rating: 4/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Real Clothes [リアル・クローズ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) | Regatta [レガッタ] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) Quite predictable and boring... Mocomichi is so tanned, he looks burnt. But still hot. XD Overly nice characters like Misao drive me crazy. Actually the leads Makoto & Misao irritate me a little. I like Hitsuji and Chieko much more, they should get together. | RESCUE ~ Tokubetsukodo Kyujotai [特別高度救助隊] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) |
Resident ~5-nin no Kenshui [レジデント~5人の研修医] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Rich Man, Poor Woman [リッチマン、プアウーマン] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | rinbukyoku [輪舞曲] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I thought I was watching a movie at first - the filming style is very different. Pretty stylish though. The plot can be confusing sometimes, making me go wtf. I'm not really into such stories so it felt draggy towards the end when it gets drama-mama. The main actors/actresses are such eyecandy though. Choi Ji Woo looks very pretty (unlike in that Winter Sonata >_<) and Mocomichi as the badboy son turned against his father was hot. XD |
Ring: Saishusho [リング 最終章] Rating: 5/10 (Bought & Watched) | Risou no Musuko [理想の息子] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Risuku no Kamisama [リスクの神様]
|
ROMES ~ Kuko Bogyo System [空港防御システム] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Rookie! Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Quite a mediocre detective drama. It's more about the follies of Koichi as a new detective than the actual crimes. Pretty entertaining at times, but not particularly interesting. Rina as the rookie reporter is quite annoying. Kuroki Hitomi is great in this as an excellent detective. I love how she irritates Makoto's senior everytime with her brillance. | ROOKIES [ルーキーズ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Sometimes it's cheesy as hell, but it is still so fun and enjoyable to watch, even if I could care less about baseball. The enthusiasm of the guys is infectious and their silliness is adorable. They seem to equate shouting to yankee, sometimes it gets excessive and annoying. Koide gives a excellent understated performance. |
Roosevelt Game [ルーズヴェルト・ゲーム]
| Ruri no shima [瑠璃の島] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I was attracted to this drama because of Yutaka, but it's the young lead actress Narumi Riko who really shines in this. The island which formed the background of the story is a really refreshing place, and it gives the whole drama a calm and relaxed feel. I love the theme song too, it's really nice and fits the show well. | Ryusei no Kizuna [流星の絆] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) |

Sapuri [サプリ]
| Satomi Hakenden [里見八犬伝] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I wasn't expecting much, but I ended up liking this SP a lot. The story is good - very interesting and compelling. I really like how the warriors are brought together one by one. The CG effects were so-so but quite respectable. I'm interested in looking for the original version now... | Satorare [サトラレ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Started watching this because I thought the concept was original and interesting. Ended up finishing it in 3 days because it was so funny. Odagiri Joe was so cute here... I kept thinking he looks like Tsumabuki while watching this though hehe. The idea that other people can hear your every thought is pretty scary. It's funny to see the troubles that are stirred up because of this. |
SCANDAL Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Scrap Teacher [スクラップ・ティーチャー] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Second Love [セカンド・ラブ] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) |
Seigi no Mikata [正義の味方] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Shida Mirai's range of facial expressions is really fantastic. She does serious and comedy stuff equally well and is really one of the best of her generation. I felt Yamada Yu was really awkward and unnatural in the beginning. Personally I think her style >>>> her looks, I prefer as a model. *sorry* However, she did get much better as the series progressed. | Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu [世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) The story is simple, but also very touching and sad. The whole drama is shot beautifully with great performances, especially by the 2 leads. | sekushii boisu ando robo [セクシーボイスアンドロボ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I wasn't even going to watch this actually but I enjoyed most of the episodes very much. There's something very quirky and fun about the drama that engages me, especially the characters who are really unique and 'weird' in different ways. Ohgo Suzuka has great screen aura for her age... I think she carries the show as a lead pretty well. One of the things I like to see in each episode is the cute outfits that Niko is wearing. They probably look weird in other instances but look right at home in this drama. |
Sensei wa Erai! [先生はエライっ!] (Watched) Watch it if you're a fan of the 4 boys... I'm not giving it a rating cos even though I like them, I didn't watch the whole thing..... XD | Shiawase ni Narou yo Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Shiratori de Gozaimasu 1 [白鳥麗子でございます!] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I have some vague impression of watching this on tv, it might have been the first japanese drama I've ever watched. I remember being so amused by the antics and behaviour of the very rich main character. |
Shiratori de Gozaimasu Season 2 [白鳥麗子でございます!] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Sequel to the first dorama I've ever watched. I don't remember much except that like most sequels, it is not as good as the first. | Shokojo Seira [小公女セイラ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Shomuni [ショムニ] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) |

Shota no sushi [将太の寿司] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Slow Dance [スローダンス] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) This was indeed a slow dance~ The pacing of the story is kinda slow but it felt comfortable and consistent, like it was slowly developing in terms of the storyline and the characters. I really liked the sets, the clothes, the music (the soundtrack's great btw) but there could be a bit more 'action' The conversations just kept coming and coming. | Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi [空から降る一億の星] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) This is another dark one.. but I liked this one. The story is kinda disturbing though, especially the twist at the end, which is kinda gross imo but so tragic. I think the main 3 actors/actress did a really good job here. |
Stand UP!! Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) The beginning of the series is hilarious and riddiculous at the same time. It's not all 'American Pie' though as it tackles serious stuff, especially towards the end. The 4 'dotte' boys are all so funny and endearing, I can't even pick my favourite. Suzuki An as Chie holds her own very well too. | Strawberry Night [ストロベリーナイト] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Strawberry on the shortcake [ストロベリー・オンザ・ショートケーキ] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) I think it started off pretty well but by the time it got to the middle part the plot got a little stupid. The ending was pretty well done though, considering how bored I was in the middle. Kyoko acts in another role where the character is just plain annoying, which is sad because I still think she can act. Takki was just ok here. The supporting roles of Rina & Kubozuka were more outstanding here. |
Suikyu Yankees [水球ヤンキース] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Suki na Hito ga Iru Koto [好きな人がいること] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) | Summer Nude [サマーヌード] Rating: 4/10 (Watched) |
Summer snow Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) This series is extremely funny and extremely touching at the same time. At some point I realized I was crying at the end of every single episode, and it's the 'awww shucks this is wonderful' kind of crying. Tsuyoshi was awesome at being the funny big brother who puts his siblings welfare above his own. Oguri Shun was also excellent as the younger brother with a hearing problem and an inferiority complex. I hardly see Hirosue as a sweet and frail character and she was actually quite endearing in this series. My favourite Tsuyoshi drama. | Sunao ni Narenakute [素直になれなくて] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) | Taiyo no Kisetsu [太陽の季節] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Taiyo to Umi no Kyoshitsu [太陽と海の教室] Rating: 3/10 (Watched) | Taiyou no uta [タイヨのうた] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) The cast is not bad actually but the writing is quite terrible. The side plots they have to stretch it out into a full length drama are pretty pointless/do not evoke much feelings from the viewer imo. Kouji is like a block of wood, the Asami character is very unappealing and gets no sympathy from me, Sawajiri Erika brings on a little something to make Amane Kaoru feisty and likeable, which is cool. Music wise, I think the the movie and the dorama versions have their own charm, story wise, I'll just stick to the movie. | Taiyou wa shizumanai Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Didn't like the plot... the story moved along very slowly especially in the middle. Minami sensei is CREEPY and Yuka's character is dispensable. Still I started liking Takki and thinking he's a good actor here, and Matsuyuki Yasuko was very good as the lawyer too. |

Tatakau! Shoten Girl [戦う!書店ガール] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Tatta Hitotsu no Koi [たったひとつの恋] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) A pretty conventional rich girl-poor boy love story with a dreamy and romantic feel that I get from Kitagawa Eriko's script. There's a slight melanchony and gloomy feel to the drama that makes me feel like not starting an episode sometimes, just because. Also, I kept waiting for a plot twist or some sort of climax in the storyline, but it never came. | Team Batista no Eiko [チーム・バチスタの栄光] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) |

Tokyo DOGS ~ Saiaku de Saiko no Partner [東京DOGS] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) | Tokyo Friends [東京フレンズ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I came across this series by chance and decided to give it a go. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise and I'm looking forward to the movie. Otsuka Ai gives a great and natural performance for her first acting job, I guess the role helps since it seems so fit for her. The other 3 girls are interesting too, although Hirono's storyline is a yawn sometimes, the gekidan seems so... unconvincing. Also, I love the performances from Survival Company. Nice songs! | Tokyo Love Story [東京ラブストーリー] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) If I read the plot now, I'd probably think that it is so cheesy and lame. But when I watched this, I was really drawn into the story and it is one of my favourite love stories of all time, even if the ending is not something I would have wanted. I really love the character Rika -> it became a name I'd incorporate into screen names even till today. Suzuki Honami was really great here. |
Tokyo Wankei [東京湾景]
till 3 | Tomorrow Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Top Caster [トップキャスタ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Thought it was going to be a serious story, but it turned out to be pretty light-hearted. The weekly stories are pretty entertaining. Amami Yuki is great in a comedic role as she was in a serious one like Maya sensei. |
Triangle [トライアングル] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Tsubasa No Oreta Tenshitachi 1 [翼の折れた天使たち] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) If i were to rate the episodes, it would be 2>1>4>3. | Tsubasa no Oreta Tenshitachi Season 2 [翼の折れた天使たち] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I only watched stories 1 & 2, while I liked how these 2 stories ended, I think the 1st season was better. |
Tsuki no Koibito [月の恋人]
| Tumbling [タンブリング] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Ueno Juri to Itsutsu no Kaban [上野樹里と5つの鞄] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) |
Umareru. [生まれる。] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Unfair [アンフェア] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Shinohara Ryoko = love! She kicked ass as an OL anego and she is as awesome here as a tough cop. An intriguing thriller that keeps you in suspense till the very end. | Uso Koi [ウソコイ] Rating: 4/10 (Watched) Don't remember much of this show as it was quite boring. Plus it was hard to catch it weekly on tv. Gave up halfway. |
Voice [ヴォイス] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Wagaya no Rekishi [わが家の歴史] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu [私が恋愛できない理由] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Watashi Kekkon Dekinain Janakute, Shinain desu [私 結婚できないんじゃなくて、しないんです]
| Watashi wo Hanasanaide [わたしを離さないで] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Wedding Planner [ウエディングプランナー] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) |
With love Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I liked this quite a lot although I heard not so nice things about this dorama. I like the storyline and the plot was moving along quite nicely. Yutaka looks so good here too. :p I like the female lead also even though I heard so many complaints about here, heh. | Yamada-kun to Nananin no Majo [山田くんと7人の魔女] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Yamato Nadeshiko [やまとなでしこ【大和撫子】] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Nanako was great here, she made it look like it was great fun to act in this role. |
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge [ヤマトナデシコ七変化] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Yan Papa [やんパパ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Yankee Bokou ni Kaeru [ヤンキー母校に帰る] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I know this is based on a real school, but somehow it feels too much like a documentary instead of a drama series. Maybe it's the dialogue or something. But by the end, I was pretty bored.
I realized there are tons of up and coming actors/actresses among the cast of students. Fans of them should consider watching this series to see how they were. e.g. Mocomichi is way more kakkoii now, and Teppei became cuter too. Ichihara Hayato looks the same though. |
Yankee-kun to Megane-chan [ヤンキー君とメガネちゃん] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Yasuko to Kenji [ヤスコとケンジ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Yoiko no Mikata [よい子の味方] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Enjoyable dorama, it's a cute story although it's nothing spectacular. Sho was quite endearing playing the role of Taiyou sensei, I've warmed up to him much more now. He cries a lot, hahaha. ^^;;; Most of the time the story focuses on the problems of a particular kid at the time, I think mothers should like this show. Sometimes the kids aren't even cute (except Kenta :P) at all, Taiyou sensei is cuter cos he is sooo like a kid. That's what makes him special I guess, to be one of the 1% of the male kindergarten teachers in Japan~ |
Yokai Ningen Bem [妖怪人間べム] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Yokoso, Wagaya e [ようこそ、わが家へ] Rating: 6/10 | Yoshitsune [義経]
This is still running for the whole of 2005 so can't rate it yet. My 1st taiga drama... gosh can't believe I'm watching one either. One of the reasons I like jdoramas is because I think 10-12 episodes is just right. This is all thanks to Takki, lol. I'm getting drawn into it though, so far so good. ^^ |
Yowakutemo Katemasu [弱くても勝てます] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) | Yutori Desu ga Nani ka [ゆとりですがなにか] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Yuukan kurabu [有閑倶楽部] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Zeni no Sensou [銭の戦争]
| Zenkai Girl [全開ガール] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Zettai Kareshi [絶対彼氏] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I guess there's no such thing as a zettai kareshi/absoulute boyfriend. Night is sweet but it is just too much to handle sometimes. Riiko's character is confusing and frustrating to watch - she doesn't know what she really wants or how she really feels. For once Mocomichi's acting is pretty good, I guess because his robotic acting skills are perfect for this role XD Overall this is a above average sweet romcom if you don't expect too much. |
