| 1. | My review is soooo late! [Rating: 10/10] ahh.. am so sorry to manami!! honto honto ni gomenasai na~
watched the drama for the 2nd time and realised i have not give a review for this great x3 show....
okie.. firstly: plot /story is good... not fantastic, is the kind of family show that will keep the audience chasing etc., but not original..
story is good, the actors, takashi is okie... believe that it can be improved. soshite, the lead actress (or 2nd?), akiko is good in bringing out the show... i find her quite funny most of the times.. :)
nanami~~~ i really like her.. she is just grreeeaat!.. cute and good at acting, at least for such an age.. :)
Of course, bought the show because of manami aka shima... she is really good at her acting!! superb :) :) and i would think that she is the most kawaii actress, besides the little kid..
great that she can act in this show, with at least a few more scenes, compared to most of her previous shows.. yokatta!!
may have said this numereous times.. but pls support manami!!
manami!! manami!! .... | Reviewed by cass_dust on 9 February 2004 | 2. | Warm and Fuzzy [Rating: 8/10] Hotman is one of those dramas that make you feel all warm and fizzy inside. Itfs not a drama has considerable depth and philosophy, so if youfre looking for something profound than this wouldnft be a good pick. On the contrary, itfs quite easy-flowing and simple, and this simplicity makes it a good watch. Yes, there are corny scenes. Yes, it is predictable. But sometimes you just need a drama that has these qualities!
The casting in this drama was done brilliantly. There is so much chemistry between the family dynamic and between the family and supporting characters. Yamauchi Nana is a delight to watch and Ifm sure shefll grow up to be a talented young actress.
There is a sequel to this drama so I wonft criticise the end. I would like to say that Ifm glad Nanamifs mother was not revealed. Like Shima says in the drama, itfs not important whether we know who the mother is or not. Itfs not about the mother at all. Itfs about Enzo and Nanami. End of story. | Reviewed by Wynter on 20 November 2006 | 3. | A Superb Family Drama [Rating: 10/10] This drama series exceeded all expectations that I had for it. Sorimachi Takashi shines in this series in his portrayal of the protective and loving, Enzo. At first I thought that this was going to be a typical family drama, but it wasn't. It was much more than just that.
Each of the family members did a wonderful job in portraying their characters and I definitely felt that family chemistry between all of them. At times it seemed to be unbelievable that they weren't related in real life. Each character was memorable and endearing, especially Nanami-chan.
I highly recommend watching this drama. Very rarely do I give dramas a rating of 10/10 these days (since I've watched so many), but this drama really shines and I really think you'd be missing out if you didn't watch this series, especially if you're a fan of Sorimachi Takashi. His acting is so convincing in this series and his character would touch you. | Reviewed by donna8157 on 4 June 2005 | 4. | GTO 2 [Rating: 10/10] this is one of the best dramas ive seen. each ep is self contained heart warming tale. the characters plays off each other wonderfully. takashi shows alot of charisma and is real cool, a more subdued onizuka? nanami is really cute and acts way better than i could have imagined for someone her age. the supporting cast is terrific, akiko was very funny and looked hot, her expressions were priceless, esp when shes drunk ^^
of course the standout is manami, im glad she finally got more screen time, shes very beautiful in this and shows she can act too. go manami!!
overall very touching, a must see unless you have a heart of stone ;) | Reviewed by kikkuman on 26 September 2004 | 5. | Average 'dramatic' dorama [Rating: 6/10] I can see how the dorama tries to make you feel warm and fussy about family... but i find them abit dramatic over little things. At the beginning i was kind of lost what was happening because they kept arguing with each other for no reason, and their acting wasnt very realistic. However there were a few comical situations and the characters did grew on me a little bit including the cute nanami-chan. Overall the story flows and the end was very nice. One thing though, why does the actors have so much bad skin??? I think the camera needs a better filter...hmmm | Reviewed by venusvelvet on 11 September 2005 | 6. | Family at its best [Rating: 9/10] I was quite skeptical at first, thinking that it was some cheesy family drama and that pple were only watching it because of the actors/actresses. Man was I wrong. To anyone who's wondering if they shld watch it or not. My advice is: if at any point in your life, you have been unhappy over favourtism, over protective family members, not being able to fit in sch, or have fun with your friends this is the one show that you can really relate to. Watch, laugh, cry, smile at this unique family as they address problems faced by almost everyone. | Reviewed by mysticalgal84 on 19 October 2004 | 7. | One of the Best Dramas Ever! [Rating: 10/10] I really love everthing about this drama. It is sad, funny, and encouraging. It is about a family that is struggling with many difficulties but even through the harshest times, they all help each other out and care for each other. The actors were absolutely fantastic. hey even the theme song is good. I loved how it is truly uplifting and wonderful in every way. The characters are funny, the script is smart, and the whole drama is fantastic. I think that Hotman is the perfect example for "Ganbattene" | Reviewed by Azumanga Daioh Fan on 27 May 2006 | 8. | Above average [Rating: 7/10] A family drama with decent plots. It's an entertaining show. At times too much moralizing, not nesessary to point out that clearly. Another thing that bothered me a bit was Enzos constant pestering about his daughter Nanami whenever Misuzu's around. Where I live that's a deathsin to do on a date. And a girl of Akiko Yadas caliber deserves slightly more attention....don't u think?
Anyway, this drama's still good, above average and well worth my time. To me, 7,5 would seem like an exact rating. | Reviewed by kaonashi on 11 June 2004 | 9. | super touching [Rating: 10/10] While watching this drama with my mom and brother, we all cried. | 1. | Comments by Sorata [Rating: 8/10] Well iLm usually not a big fan of family doramas but this one was really good, really addicting story and the plot unfolds very nice.
At first i tought SorimachiLs performance was good but then he spent the entire dorama averacting, it was awful sometimes; but overall wasnLt that bad.
Loved the cast for the family: the cuteness of Nanami(Yamauchi Nana) and Hinata(Ichikawa Yui), the love crush of Haiji(Saito Shota) for Misuzu(Yada Akiko) and the silent love quest of Ryunosuke(Saito Keita) for Akikawa Satsuki(Sawajiri Erika).
When i first saw her i didnLt even recognize Sawajiri Erika, sheLs so young in this one.
The most touching scene was really when Nanami started asking her friends to eat EnzoLs(Sorimachi Takashi) cake instead of the chocolate cake that ShimaLs(Konishi Manami) boyfriend bought.
Anyway overall the acting isnLt that great but the chemestry between the Furiya family members is 5 stars. | 2. | Comments by donna8157 [Rating: 10/10] An outstanding drama that exceeded my expectations. When I first read the description of this series, I thought it was going to be another one of those cookie-cutter family dramas, but surprisingly it was so much more than just that. Sorimachi Takashi shines in this role as Enzo and each of the other characters do a spectacular job. There was definitely a sense of family chemistry in this series that made each character even that much more endearing, especially Nanami. ^_^ The ending was very touching and sweet.
I highly recommend watching this drama. I don't like how others have called this GTO 2 because it's not GTO and I felt that Sorimachi's character in this series was different from that of the overzealous, over-righteous Onizuka. We saw the softer side of him in this series. Great work. A must watch! | 3. | Comments by Kitsuchi [Rating: 10/10] This dorama is really sweet.. Little Nanami is cute and Sorimachi as her father.. He's cool. He's one of those actors with the best and funniest expressions.. Hard to describe this dorama, but then it shows how much I like it. No words, eh. It's a story describing how beautiful a family can be and how things can go on right before your eyes without you noticing anything, and in worst case, not until it's too late.. Enough of babbling, this is one dorama with alot of emotions and feelings. You should watch this. | 4. | Comments by SayaOtonashi [Rating: 7/10] A domestic dorama in all ways. Family show, not very original, but heartwarming and entertaining. The little girl was adorable. Anyway I just couldn't understand some reactions from Enzo and they kept arguing and arguing, but each character had its own story and you almost felt that the house itself was another character. I started watching season 2 but I hated that Manami was changed by Misaki Itoh. Season 1 is one of those doramas that has some weak and cheesy points but that at the same time is a must watch. | 5. | Comments by rikastar [Rating: 7/10] Nanami is a super cute kid! Really, really adorable <3 This is a pretty warm and funny family drama, with loveable and noisy family members. However, the 3 youngest siblings seem to be mere caricatures and their characters are not explored much, which is a pity. There is an excess of Shima's smiley face if you ask me = =''' But it's a good attempt at other type of roles by Sorimachi, he makes me laugh out loud at his exaggerated antics, and did I already mention that Nanami is super adorable? | 6. | Comments by williu [Rating: 7/10] A very heartwarming drama! The rather low score says nothing about Sorimachi's acting, which is in fact superb. He is one of the best drama actors out there - period. The problem that arises however, is that basically _everyone_ in Hotman (maybe with the exception of Yada Akiko) is outshone by him. Their acting is on such a different level that at times (especially by the two twins) it just feels pathetic. If you can look beyond that, it's a nice drama, without any special plot-twists. | 7. | Comments by kurii [Rating: 10/10] Recent Watched (June/2005) - Yet another ii feeling series starring Sorimachi Takashi. 'Yamauchi Nana...Sugoku Kawaii.' =) Theme song fitted really well. The bond between Enzo (Takashi) & Nanami (Nana) was simply the best. I'm glad i didn't miss such a great series. One last thing, 'Haha, Kuma da'. Kinda caught me off guard seeing Kuma (Gokusen) in a suit. >_< (After commenting, i think i'm going to watch it again. =D ) | 8. | Comments by phoenix_angkasa [Rating: 9/10] Dam, i could not put this one down. The guy from GTO is the lead in this one too. Akiko was hot. Yui was cute. The storyline was ok, i felt this drama moved way to slow. I thought the character that was created for Manami Konishi could have been better, but i felt she acted very good. At times, i felt uninterested in the drama, although there were some dramatic moments. I finished it out and overall i thought it was ok. | 10. | Comments by godai-san [Rating: 10/10] Gave it a nine at first, but after I finished watching this series, I changed my tune. This drama had everything- cool songs, a great cast, hot chicks, a super-adorable five-yr old, not to mention family crises, laughter, tears, some romance, comedy, and stuff about life, being a parent, being a kid, and being part of a family. Loved this series. Gotta wait til someone subtitles the Hotman Special! Yeah!!! | 11. | Comments by K.T.Tran [Rating: 9/10] Thought Sorimachi did a good job in this drama and Akiko was HOT!!!!! The others did good too, I think Yui looked cuter in this drama then in H2 and the Shota twins were good. Little girl is very cute, sweet little innocent baby girl. The story is good. Like how the family is always there for one another and how the family does run into some trouble and they come up with ways to solve it. | 12. | Comments by nishishi [Rating: 10/10] One of the best doramas ive watched.... Thumbs up!!!! | 13. | Comments by jdfan [Rating: 8/10] Hitotsu yane no shita (2003)?!! This dorama reminded me of the aforementioned classic. The older brother trying to take care of his brothers and sisters but this time they throw in a little 5 year old girl. Yes, I enjoyed every episode. I wish they further developed the relationship between the two leads. The little girl is so adorable and she can act... | 14. | Comments by jo [Rating: 5/10] Okay story, it's boring and shallow sometimes, I can't understand why they would argue all the time with silly simple things, and Enzo would burst out with his stupid loud voice. C- | 15. | Comments by Kirari Ililah [Rating: 8/10] Good drama for the family. Sorimachi Takashi is a very good actor and seems to be good with kids....Yamauchi Nana who plays Nanami is SO cute. The Saitou brothers might not be well known, but I still like them, especially Keita who plays Ryonosuke, he's cool by a coward....I recommend for anyone who enjoys a good and casual family drama.... | 16. | Comments by niti [Rating: 5/10] Another series with the actor that had the main role in GTO (onizuka), I am ashamed to say it but I have only seen one episode of this series. After I saw the first episode, my comp had a breakdown and it took me some time to get another one. By the time I had a new one I had lost the interest of the series.

1. | Kirari Ililah Sorimachi Takashi is a great actor and this drama is great for the family....Its also funny because you see Haiji being a semi-bad kid, but then energetic and funny too....as for the brother, Ryonosuke, a cool guy, buy some-what a coward...you'd feel sorry for him too though....I think this drama can also teach some lessons and easy to realate to sometimes.... | 2. | Shouri Such a great show...
