1. | Comments by Cerebus [Rating: 8/10] The basic premise is dumb (a group of Yakuza work in an old folks' home) but this was one of the most involving and sometimes intelligent and realistic doramas I've seen. It is at its best when it deals with the consequences of old age and dementia on people and their friends and family. This is done in a considered and thankfully non-overly sentimental way. Also, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi and Natsukawa Yui (as ever) are both excellent and their (and her son's) problems and relationships where handled expertly. The Yakuza part of the show was just silly. This isn't helped by the fact that most of them where played by non-acting interchangeable pretty-boys (and one non-acting pretty-girl). I've never seen a bigger bunch of wimps in my life. There's no way they could survive a fight with a rival gang, in fact I think some of them would be lucky to survive a particularly strenuous bowel movement. |
2. | Comments by Oba-chan [Rating: 8/10] Yakuza + Helper, oh god, it would be a bad combination. After first episode i just, What??? What the hell are they trying to make?? I just can't believe why this drama have a huge rating in japan. But i realize i must calm down, relax, and enjoy the show. It turn out to be a good drama. This the second time i watched Tsuyoshi after boku no aruku michi (Poorly with the same yellow shirt) and i became more respect to him. His really different and manly. Also kuroki-chan, she's always beautiful, naka riisa too. But the other yakuza are useless especially mikya and kurosawa. They don't look like yakuza, tsuyoshi at least have a killer eyes, but this two man doesn't have anyting. If they used a different cast, maybe i will give nine or ten points.
Theme song: Sotto Kyutto [SMAP] + All My Soul: 10 (Especially all my soul, my favourite song, they also have Smells like All my soul...LOL) |
3. | Comments by aiscess [Rating: 8/10] Ironically, in this series the Yakuza's, which are known to have been abandoned or have lost their parents from an early age, are sent to train in an institution for the elderly where the grandpa's and grandma's there are also abandoned by their own children. Some episodes can really make you emotional, special mention to episode 9. As for the ending, I had a feeling it would end that way since most occupational jdramas do, but the leadership position came in as a surprise. A very nice performance from Kusanagi Tsuyoshi. |
4. | Comments by KAZdoramma [Rating: 9/10] Well,, this is a dorama definitely worth watching as the cast is good with the main role played by Kusanagi Tsuyoshi (SMAP). It has both serious and funny bits so well balanced and th ending is decent too so I really would recommend this to anyone thinking about watching it.!!!!! |
5. | Comments by docalion [Rating: 9/10] I would give it a 10 if not only for the confusing and weak ending which I felt it had. But i think the story is great and Kusanagi is great in this one. I am looking forward to see more of his craft in the future. Still, highly recommended! |
6. | Comments by strawberryfzz [Rating: 8/10] Yakuza Boss Kuroki Meisa is just awesome. It's almost worth watching just for her, but lucky for us, we get treated to an action packed, intriguing story, too. |
7. | Comments by maguro666 [Rating: 8/10] This drama actually has pretty good rating in Japan but I found the plot was a bit dark and depressing. Still very good acting and story over all. |
8. | Comments by desert-raven [Rating: 8/10] Pretty good series, Natsukawa was excellent. The music was ok, I'm not a huge fan of SMAP, but the gospel-like music was interesting. |
9. | Comments by gaston [Rating: 8/10] Meisa is my new eye candy of the week. Story is engrossing -- definite cliffhangers and sensible plot. Wish the ending was peppier. |

13. | Comments by chibichan [Rating: 8/10] Kusanagi plays really good in this dorama,a little bit too heroic for a yakuza i think |

15. | Comments by kyunspark [Rating: 7/10] the theme is kinda unique, since there's not many dorama focusing on old people |
