1. | Comments by ginger ale [Rating: 10/10] Zenkai Girl (Full throttle girl) with Aragaki Yui and Nishido Ryo of Kanjani8 and News. What's not to like about this over the top ambitious girl (Wakaba) from some back water town in the boondocks of Japan who aspires to make it big as an international lawyer in the big city lights of Tokyo's elite law firm? Betsu ni (Nothing) except maybe the fact that she's so dense about finding love right under her nose. Everything about her oozed ambition in neon colors until she met former French chef now head cook of a diner in some obscure spot in Tokyo. Yes, I'm talking about you Ryo now called Sota or Sato ( whichever) a single father of a 5 year old boy Pitaro who is not even his biological child. Whoa. And since Wakaba is on probation for 3 months, the firm's head honcho makes her baby sit her 5 year old going on 40 daughter Hinata. Lovely child , a fashionista with lovely hair. The show is a romantic comedy but the real love experts in this drama are the two kids, my eternal OTP!
Sure there are complicated love angles and love triangles in the show and intrigue in the law firm and the adults aren't handling it wisely but the kids are the scene stealers. Pitaro and Hinata and Wakaba's middle school self who keeps popping up in the flash back of sorts. And touching scenes between Wakaba and her father. Great acting on everyone's part, though I have to give high fives to the kids who were more than adorable. This gets a rating of 10 golden stars from me. |
2. | Comments by occultangle [Rating: 7/10] The thing I would like to say about this drama, that I haven't seen anyone else notice, is that it is an absolute rip-off of the older, extremely popular drama "Yamato Nadeshiko". The plot is almost an exact duplicate, even a lot of the details are the same, they even refer to a girl as a "yamato nadeshiko" several times! As if they were trying to give themselves away.
And in my opinion, if you are going to rip-off another series Yamato Nadeshiko is NOT a good choice, it may have been popular, but that doesn't mean it was any good. The story was trite and simple. However I will admit that Aragaki Yui's character is an improvement over the original in that at least her motivation comes off as more believable and less shallow. Otherwise the biggest difference is that they tossed some kids into the story, which is neither good nor bad really, it's pretty much just random, it could have been puppies with no significant effect.
But it's still not a bad show, and has some good characters and moments, I just felt someone needed to at least call the creators out on their blatant plagiarism. |
3. | Comments by Susan [Rating: 7/10] What started out as a fun, light-hearted drama with a great main character, adorable children, and a plethora of interesting side-characters turned into out to be a big, underwritten mess by the end. Aragaki Yui was amazing in this! As a female lead she's right up there with the likes of Takeuchi Yuko, Ayase Haruka, Ueto Aya, and Fukada Kyoko. Her talent shows in how she brought Ayukawa Wakaba to life in such a spirited manner. Yet Nishikido Tyo left something to be desired. Was it his wishy-washy character and the poor development of his relationship with Wakaba? I was disappointed by the final episode seeing Shindo simply give up as well. As far as love triangles go, the other side really does need to be emotionally invested for it to make for interesting, dramatic action and this was just not the case. Call off the wedding? Apologize on her behalf? Wish her well? Ah, if only they'd taken the time to actually give Wakaba and Sota some romance in the last few episodes. It would've made for a much more satisfying series. |
4. | Comments by Di@na [Rating: 9/10] I just love ambitious and strong women ^^ I am glad that Yui finally played this kind of role. It suits her! And on another hand Ryo-chan chose a very unsual role.. it's not the typical "dandy-bad-boy- role" he usually prefers to play . He played a very grounded/normal/cute guy and it seems like he kinda enjoyed it to be dominated by his co-star *haha* fact is that they are a couple now ;) I am glad because Yui and Ryo-chan are a cute couple and they look good together. Ok back to the topic, an ambitious young woman who only thinks about her career and doesn't think about love and marriage untill she meets the very sweet and down to earth young man and his adopted son. Well, the only think I criticize is, that they changed her strong attitude at the end because *spoiler* she is marrying him in the last episode. But, why not? A woman can have her great career and still fell in love and marry. It's not like she is giving up her career for love. She should get the best of both worlds :) |
5. | Comments by Jeanxi [Rating: 7/10] My feelings toward Zenkai Girl is very conflicted. On one hand, I am touched by the interactions between the kids and the adults, especially the bond between Mr. Dangomushi and B Tarou. I also love the actress who plays Sakurakawa Sensei. But at the same time, the plot is extremely predictable, the relationship between Dangomushi and Wakaba is poorly developed, and the ending feels like something that was just thrown together in 10 minutes. If someone were to ask me whether I would recommend this drama, I would probably say that this is NOT a drama worth watching. There were certainly parts of the drama that I did enjoy though. So with the good parts balancing out the horrible parts, I would give this drama an overall rating of average. |
6. | Comments by Ezalor [Rating: 9/10] One of the best shows for a long time. Very good and exciting love story. The two main characters have an elsewhere rarely seen good chemistry. Not the mandatory clumsy kiss in the end, but they treating each other very gently.
The overall series gives a good lesson on how to live your life right and do the right/best things. In school, it is taught that you have to take an opinion/position for yourself at first, and then defend it to the very end, even if you are realizing halfways that you were wrong, otherwise you lose face. Sometimes it is just better to hear on your feelings and re-evaluate the circumstances to do the best for everyones sake, even if it means that you have to break promises and not standing to your word. |
7. | Comments by Finndlin [Rating: 6/10] Cute, sweet...but oh-so predictable. Giving this dorama only 6 may look tough, as after all it's mostly enjoyable, cast is quite nice and story entertaining. So what's the trouble? As I said it is VERY predictable, you can guess from the start what will happen and there is never any surprise. Seriously it seems I've seen the situations depicted in that "Zenkai Girl" many times before, and the twists always come when you expect them. So it's a bit boring, Iwould have liked something a bit more original. So if you're incredibly romantic, in love with one of the actor or if it's your first jdorama I'd recommend it. Or else...I think you can find something better to watch ;) |
8. | Comments by tachan [Rating: 8/10] Very cute and enjoyable. I usually feel hesitant about romantic dramas where children are major characters, but the kids in this story acted well and were adorable. They added to the story and made it less generic than some of the other romantic dramas recently. Aragaki Yui and Nishikido Ryo are a good match as well. I would have rated it higher, but some episodes were better than others. |
9. | Comments by Patazilla [Rating: 7/10] Started off quite promising, but mid way through the initially fun and light characters got me slowly frustrated. By the end I felt quite annoyed with them. I liked the kids, though and was fine with Nishikado Ryou whom I normally avoid... ^^ |
10. | Comments by gaston [Rating: 7/10] I can't accept who Urara-搶 ended up with! ^^ Child performances again make up for a predictable drama. Although many of the situations are unbelievable AND predictable, nonetheless was enjoyable. |
11. | Comments by Yuuki MatsuMiya [Rating: 8/10] Really nice plot! Funny and touching! Charming actors! Nishikido R. was a good dad, but the kids were great! Strong message about dreams and how work for them! |
