|---|
| Meet the Sakurai family, where nobody holds their feelings back and life never holds a dull moment. Returning to serial drama for the first time in five years, Misako Tanaka and three hyperactive actors provide a story with a heart. Sakurai Harue (Tanaka), who has brought up her sons alone after her husband died, is absolutely hopeless at running a household. Her eldest, Tatsuya (Tamayama), does the job in her place while keeping younger brothers Riku (Hayami), and Junpei (Nakao) firmly in line. The sparks are constantly flying and arguements abound, but at the root of it all is a love for family and kinship. Life is smooth for the family until all three brothers find themselves in their own love stories. There are a lot of discrepancies in this drama that would normally peeve me. Like how Ai, in episode 5, claims that Tatsuya is like a brother to her, even though in the previous episodes there doesn�ft seem to be much of a bond�c or how Chisato has a lunch for four ready at the Amusement Park in episode 4, but initially she was called there by surprise. And lets not forget how Riku re-opens the Laundromat without any experience or knowledge of the business and is successful.
But regardless of all these inconsistencies, I LOVE this drama! So what if some things are really unrealistic. In the grand scheme of things, or in the frame of reference that is this show, it doesn�ft matter! I�fm a hopeless romantic and this drama did wonders in quenching my thirst.
This drama deals with family and love issues; two themes I always appreciate in a drama. There is just the right amount of angst, and sweet scenes, and comedy, and emotional �glifts�h. The cast is uber cute and each actor/actress fits the character they play perfectly. My favourites are Tanaka Misako, who plays the corky, funny, lazy mother, and Kuninaka Ryoko, who plays a shy, unconfident, sweet store manager named Chisato.
And FINALLY, a drama that has eye-candy for female viewers! Tamayama Tetsuji is absolutely gorgeous, and his character is definitely the dream of every girl. Hayami Mokomichi is charming and pulls off his role nicely.

I enjoyed watching this. It's fast paced and the mom and the brothers have good chemistry. The oldest is very responsible and looks after his family, the middle brother is a ladies' man and is quite charming, and the youngest cooks all the meals and is still in school. The mom seems a little immature and irresponsible, but her sons don't really mind helping out around the house.
It's basically a heartwarming drama about the family's life and the daily struggles they encounter such as love, life, and growing up. It's nice to see how close all the brothers are because they're constantly fighting, literally, not with just words, but with fists.

I liked this show quite a bit it's not as good as say Aoi Tori or 101st Marriage Proposal, but really fun and good. I'm glad that Tatsuya and Chisato stayed in that house I imagine that Riku and Ai's wedding isn't that far off and a few years after that Junpei and Miyuki's a couple years down the road and they all live in the same house. The story is really ordinary but it's funny and yet warm at the same time. 3 brothers tried to solve their own problems with the brotherhood and mother love in a rough way. I kind of upset when I saw Chisato (Tatsuya's girl friend) never rejected directly of what her father said but in the end this drama brought its own way to solve this problem, not with being rude directly talk to her father but with Tatsuya's persistent then he able to win over Chisato's father.

Pretty funny, I'd say having a house full of guys would have THAT much drama going on. I did like that Tamayama & Mokomichi were chosen, though Nakao was a little iffy. However as you keep watching the story you understand that Nakao's character isn't really meant to stand out. Kuninaka is so adorable and I think her and Tamayama are a good pair for this type of situation.

An amusing drama revolving around a lively family of 3 sons and their mother. Episode plots are pretty typical of jdramas but the different threads are woven nicely into a good coherent story. The casting choices were made well and each of the actors and actresses left their mark as the characters they played. With a fair bit of comedy and likeable characters, I am reminded of Oyaji and Otousan except with its own little quirks. This drama is just all around really great! The characters and how they deal with their problems in everyday life is just very intriging~! A family drama. The series begins with a happy family: a father, a mother, and three young sons. Due to a tragic accident, the father passes away early in his life leaving the mother to take care of her three growing sons. Time passes quickly and you see the sons have grown up and are used to doing chores around the house. The oldest son is a salaryman [Tamayama Tetsuji], the middle son [Hayami Mokomichi] is a popular swim instructor (with his own fanbase), and the youngest son [Nakao Akiyoshi] is still going through schooling. It's mainly a drama about how these four get along and their daily obstacles in life such as meeting women, dealing with work, finding out what they want in life, etc. Of course this goes with a few fist fights and such thus the drama title, "Brother Beat", where beat is meant literally.
The only caveat I have with this drama is the mother - as sweet as she is and even though she is portrayed as raising all three sons by herself, her character is a little over the top. I really had no idea what to expect with this drama.
When I started watching the first episode I immediately liked Tetsuji's character and when we were introduced to his first love interest I thought oh no I don't like her. But thankfully by the end of the episode it turned out that the love interest was someone else and that was Ryoko's character who was absolutely adorable. (I really liked her)
This is a really sweet series it has some amazingly cute romantic scenes that made me happy.
It's mainly a family drama, about how this family turned out without a father.
All the characters went through great character development through the whole series. I think what made Tetsuji my favourite character was his character change, he was so work focused to begin with, but by the end he seemed to have realised that there were more important things. (It also helped that he was pretty ^_^)

Really nice dorama.... Honestly i wasnt expecting much from Brother Beat... but as the episodes goes on u really start to support the three brother and their mother....
HOTMAN still is IMO the best "family" dorama... But Brother Beat gets real close to it... And the history is really creative... Most doramas focus on the father... and brother beat is really different in that aspect... Something more or less like Summer Snow...

A hilarious series! Kuninaka Ryoko was lovely as Chisato. The three brothers were so different and yet so alike in the end. Sometimes it was a bit corny, but overall a great comedy and romance series. My only regret is that it seemed to end so abruptly. I feel like I would have liked to see how Riku's laundry business fairs, how Tatsuya and Chisato's relationship develops further, and how Junpei and Miyuki finally tie the knot! Warm and entertaining family drama. It is not very deep or especially moving, but it continued to be enjoyable for much of the series. The story centers mainly around the 2 older brothers. I would have liked to see more of Tanaka Misako though, who despite her top billing, plays only a supporting role. Tamayama Tetsuji, Hayami Mokomichi, Nakao Akiyoshi play the role of three brothers living together with their mother and they dont have a father because he died when they were still young. It is a home family dorama and one of the best as it is a natural down to earth performance by the casts. It is one of the few doramas where I could relate to truly and it feels real which is one of the reason I rate this dorama so HIGH. It really is brilliant. I finally watched it after hibernating in my watch bin for so long. And I enjoyed it. I've only seen a bit of Mocomichi in Gokusen and Tetsuji Tamayama in Bara no Nai Hanaya (I hated him there) so it was a welcome relief that they are likeable and handsome characters here. hi! im currently watching this series ryt now... (episode 5) The main reason i watched it is because of Hayami Mokomichi ^///^ but then i started liking Tatsuya's character too... ^^ The plot is kinda predictable but then it's still interesting how they overcome the obstacles ^_^ I might say that 50% of the reason of watching is because of the pretty characters... the other 50% is because of the entertainment factor ^_^ All in all... I'm a sucker for romantic comedies and this is a classic example. Great cast and storyline, with a good development of characters and light comedy in between with tear jerking moments.
