Takeuchi Yuko has often played more innocent and cute characters, so it was hard to imagine her as a tough and talented police detective. Though at times she overdoes it, she was very good in this. The strength of this drama might have been the interrelationships between teams, but I felt that was downplayed for dramatic purposes. Yet the individual plots themselves were not all that exciting. In fact, I found myself solving murders long before the were solved in the show. Thus I was not kept on the edge of my seat. Overall the drama could've been stronger in character and plot. But It was certainly alright, and the actors had good chemistry with each other. |

Watched Strawberry Nights cause I love detective stories and this one is headlined by a woman ( yey for gender sensitive castings). Loved Shunin or Himekawa san, the ass kicking princess detective with a not so secret secret, leading an all male detective team. More realistic than the Boss , which I loved that delved into the lives of the police misfits. Loving every single gory infused case focused episode of Strawberry Night. And beautiful Takeuchi Yoko rocked the night! |

Solid! 9 points for the cast and their characters, 7 generous points for the cases, they are not that engaging IMHO. The special, a must see in my opinion, is a fast-paced thriller whereas the drama itself is slower, concentrates on police work and gives depth to the characters. Something that could work well over several seasons! Yuko Takeuchi is stunning of course! UPDATE have now read a few of the books this drama is based on and Yuko nailed her character. |

Good storyline. A sequel is a possibility. As recommended in some other threads, watch Strawberry Night SP first. The SP certainly wets my appetite for more. However, if you think Yuko-chan is reprising her kawaii persona like Queen no Joou, you might be sorely disappointed. She doesn't kick butts but she really sounded like a yakuza. |
