As a love story, as a story between family and mother and son, and as a story of growth and strength, Ima Ai ni Yukimasu is a drama that explores life's mircales. What would you do when given a second chance with the one you love? | Wynter |

| 1. | The most Beautiful Drama EVAH! [Rating: 9/10] I wasnft sure what it to make of this drama when I first started watching it. The starting incident was definitely unrealistic and I wasnft sure how to handle it. As the plot progressed, and I came to terms with the gmiracleh aspect of the drama, I truly started to enjoy it. Although the ending is still questionable in my mind, I thought the drama was unique, beautiful, and altogether lovely.
This was my first drama was Mimura. I found her lovely, sweet, and altogether a grand actress. She was very convincing both as a mother, and as a woman lost in herself. Her innocent face and chaste attire really worked well with the character type. Narimiya Hiroki was justc wow. Is there any role this guy canft play?! Ifve never seen him in this type of role before but gosh, am I glad I have! He was brilliant and really portrayed the character to the best of his ability. Takei Akashi, and the rest of the supporting cast, were brilliantly cast and their connections with each other were convincing. The casting director was successful through and through.
From all the dramas I have seen, this one was the most beautiful. Each scene was linked with nature and each element of nature was linked closely to the plot. There were moments when the camera would capture something so beautiful my heart would just stop. Never has rain appeared so sinfully precious in a drama before.
This drama definitely gets my vote, and I canft wait to watch the movie. | Reviewed by Wynter on 8 October 2007 | 2. | Dissapointing [Rating: 6/10] Such a shame, this show had alot of potential as the movie it is based on is one of the best romantic films I have ever seen. There were two major problems with this show: writing and chemistry.
The show added a few more characters to create some side stories but these side stories really led nowhere. It was obvious that they were just trying to eat up time half way in so that the show would last a full 11 episodes.
The reason the movie was so special for me is the chemistry between the main leads and the drama just doesn't have it. Narimiya Hiroki is a talented guy but whenever he is in the same shot with Mimura they both seem to fall flat and I ended up finishing the show for the sake of finishing to see if there was any difference between the movie and dramas ending.
A bright spot in the show though is with the two younger actors who play the high school version of the couple. These two did a pretty good job and the flashbacks ended up being my favorite part of the entire series.
Overall though this was a waste of a great concept, disappointing. | Reviewed by sucigam on 11 February 2007 | 3. | A gift from a from away star [Rating: 10/10] This was one of the sweetest, most touching dramas that I've ever seen. I found myself instantly pulled in by the story, the characters, and the beautiful scenery that the director photographed and refered to as an integral part of the entire package. Like a fairy tale brought to life, you ride the emotional rollercoaster of this family torn apart by tragedy and pulled together through the magical rebirth of the angelic young mother, Mio, played with heart-rendering subtleness by a real-life angel Mimura.
The roles of the young father Tekumi and seven year old Yuji were also outstanding as were the performances of trhe teenaged versions of Tekumi and Mio. There was nothing in this series that I didn't find engrossing and either uplifting or poingant. I found all of the players to my liking and would recommend this series to anyone who has a heart that has ever been broken and magically mended. | Reviewed by robbo4 on 7 March 2007 | 4. | Mediocre remake [Rating: 6/10] Nariyama and Mimura as Takumi and Mio?! The young Takumi was a scrawny kid with a disgusting voice, and young Mio was a nerd too. That is just some horrible casting.
This series has been a disappointment after watching the movie. It generally follows the story from novel/movie, but each event seemed to be forced, and felt very unnatural. They also failed to reenact some of the best scenes from the movie too, like when she said "It was comforting being next to you" in the end, or the scene where Mio decided she wanted to be with them even if it leads to shorter life. The concept of having the mother there and Okamoto Aya as Nagase was very good though.
And also, this is not TBS or the producer's fault, but the fan-softsub released for this series was completely WRONG in so many places, it would probably seem even worse if you didn't understand Japanese. | Reviewed by 8thSin on 10 December 2006 | 5. | ima... [Rating: 9/10] I adore Narimiya Hiroki, and so when I heard that he was doing a new drama, of course I had to check it out eventually. I have to admit, that I did not expect him to play this sort of role. It really goes to show how he has grown as an actor. While waiting for english subtitles for the drama, I decided to watch the film version of this heart wrenching story. To compare the drama and movie, the movie definetly has a sweeter, softer tone to it, with a higher level of acting and scenery. But the drama, I tink, is a fine interpretation as well! Everyone did well in their roles, and I was glad to watch it! | Reviewed by Susan on 5 August 2006 | 6. | Touching [Rating: 10/10] I honestly hid under my huge blanket as I watched this drama to cover up the fact that I was sobbing while watching. It's a bit confusing at times, but the drama is simple and really touching! It really makes me interested in watching the movie. | Reviewed by noodlefreak on 6 April 2007 | 7. | Still scratching my head [Rating: 6/10] This over-stretched drama is so contrived, I kept wondering why I should care. It reminds me of those Bergman movies: you can make it look poetic and artsy but in the end a boring drama is still a boring drama. | Reviewed by shari on 30 January 2008 | 8. | Narimiya & Mimura a Sweet Couple....Story: A L [Rating: 8/10] *will post comment later* | Reviewed by Kirari Ililah on 14 April 2006 | 9. | Nice!!! I felt like I could watch it forever at times. But the acting felt rather average with the characters being a bit 2 dimensional. The final revelation/explanation lacked build-up, so while it could have added depth to the characters, it was at the end and the audience (I) had no time to reflect deeply on the implications it had throughout the story. The back story between the couple during school years was interesting and had me coming back for more every episodes. ( I haven't read the book or seen the movie) | 2. | Comments by occultangle [Rating: 9/10] One of the best stories around. In comparison to the movie version I think this is actually better, though it occasionally feels like things are changed just for change's sake. Also it seems like a beauty contest in that they made sure all the actors were more attractive than their movie counterparts. This Takumi is much better than the movie one, but I actually prefer the movie Mio even though this one is more appropriate. Overall this story works better with the length provided in a television series however my biggest complaint is that the romance is a little too slow and that hurts the emotional impact. | 3. | Comments by Susan [Rating: 9/10] I adore Narimiya Hiroki, and so when I heard that he was doing a new drama, of course I had to check it out eventually. I was reading the book as I am watching this series the same time it is OA in Japan. In the beginning, I am not too convinced by Narimiya's protray of Aio Takumi...Nakamura deliver such an awesome performance in the movie version, I can't help comparing. And besides, Narimiya appears to be too young in a father's role. But it all turns out rather well in the end. I would say give this series a chance. | 5. | Comments by xiong_here [Rating: 9/10] The show's pacing is pretty slow, but the last parts of it really begin to shine! The family is wonderful, I had my doubts with newcomer Mimura with a diverse actor such as Narimiya Hiroki, but they pulled it off and some parts you just want to keep egging them on!! Its a great slow story, if you've the patience, but it really shines as it closes, everything is drawn into the end and ends wonderfully!! Some parts are sad though....but its all good! | 6. | Comments by megumi s. [Rating: 7/10] it's not like THE best drama i have seen, but i think it is a very sweet drama and it's still pleasant to watch. i recommend watching the Movie version first, however. hiroki narimiya does a good job as a timid young father, a role very different from his past. the little boy's character is more developed than in the movie, probably because he is a little older when the series came out (they use the same actor for the little boy Yuji). | 7. | Comments by loveaomori [Rating: 9/10] I don't give it a ten because I though it was a shame that the ending was the one we are expecting. Besides, I wanted the girl to meet her parents but she didn't. A VERY ROMANTIC dorama. you're in the middle of a fairy tail. In the countryside, untemporal feeling. It's very delicate and... anyway I love it. But maybe it' too much a fairy atmosphere and it is hard to believe. Watch it like if you see a dream! Naraba monku iemasen! | 8. | Comments by rikastar [Rating: 6/10] I think it was hard to take the story and put it in drama form, at parts it felt too slow. Nari, Mimura and the little boy were really good though. Especially Nari, this is the first time I'm watching him play such a serious role. I had doubts at first but obviously he managed to pull it off wonderfully. The town they live in is so scenic and pretty, it makes a city girl like me want to experience living there too. | 9. | Comments by xxhiroxx [Rating: 7/10] The drama version of Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu failed to successfully capture the spirit present in the novel and the movie. While not a bad drama to watch, the many changes and addition makes the show stray from the original story at parts, and the general lack of freshness in the story contributes to its mediocrity. The drama falls short of expectations under the smash success of the movie version of the story. | 10. | Comments by IniQx [Rating: 9/10] Prefer the drama version over the movie. It had more time for story development & emotion flow. Performance by male lead needs to be improved though. He looks constipated when trying to show the melancholy side of him. Nonetheless, this drama is truly touching & watching it again (despite knowing the storyline from the movie) still brings the same emotional stir in me.... | 11. | Comments by yurifly [Rating: 7/10] All the cast did a great job adn that little boy is just an amazing actor for someone that young. Great scenery too, very soft and subtle. I've never seen the movie so I have nothing to compare it with. I would give it higher rating but it was a bit too slow for me and at times cheesy. I didn't like the teenage story and they should pick more suitable actress to play young mio. | 12. | Comments by *Minnie* [Rating: 10/10] This is my all-time FAVOURITE I just LOVED the plot and the atmosphere of the drama! Hiroki's acting was FANTASTIC! I would love to have a husband like him :) The drama made me think a lot. What happiness is... and so on. The family seemed so happy in the drama...... There's something REALLY sepcial about this drama. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!! | 13. | Comments by Tiffany [Rating: 6/10] There are parts that are so heart-wrenching! ;o; I actually read the book that this drama is based of, and I feel that this drama isn't completely true to it. However, this IS a dorama with 10 episodes, so adding to the story was inevitable. It did lag quite a bit too much though. The boy who played Yuji was RIGHT ON; he was amazing. | 14. | Comments by nishishi [Rating: 8/10] Very good dorama indeed.. but i must agree that u should watch this first, then watch the movie.... The dorama gives more details but if u watch the movie first probably u will find that the dorama is not that good....
BtW... i never tought that Narimiya would do such a marvelous job playing a "father"... but he DID!!! Thumbs up!!!! | 15. | Comments by pinkokoro [Rating: 9/10] COMPLETE. I might be different from the majority, but I love the drama more than the movie. Both are beautiful love story, and sad too. I love the relationship between the main characters starting from school, and how misunderstanding eventually revealed episode by episode. such a sweet love story. | 16. | Comments by yume [Rating: 8/10] Perhaps a bit slow when put into drama form. There are too many questions left open that could've been looked over in the 2-hour movie form. And it's very hard to see Hiroki as a father, a lot moreso than Mimura, anyway. The acting was good, but some of it felt forced... | 17. | Comments by AngelXing [Rating: 9/10] If you loved the movie, you'll love the drama too. I think Hiroki did a great job as did Mimura. I thought since I've watched the movie and knew what the outcome would be. But nevertheless, I ended up crying at the end agian. Yes yes...I'm a crybaby. | 18. | Comments by tachan [Rating: 8/10] A really sweet family drama. Even though Narimiya Hiroki looks too young to be a father, I loved him in this role. He was really sweet the whole time. Nothing too new or exciting, but will keep your interest all the way through. | 19. | Comments by 206 [Rating: 7/10] I saw the movie first and like it better. The drama follows the story line and intorduces a few more characters and has more time to explore parts of the movie but it seems a bit slow. Overall the story is still very good. | 20. | Comments by cheery [Rating: 8/10] It's good! As good as the movie although it's a bit draggy... I can't get use to Nari being a young father initially but he did very well in this drama .. And Yuji is very cute! He really can act and cry! | 21. | Comments by KokiChan [Rating: 10/10] I didn't see the movie but I thought this drama was wonderful. Nirimiya is very cute and touching as a young father! Sometimes, seeing Takumi's sadness nearly made me cry ='( Beautiful love story =') | 22. | Comments by arglborps [Rating: 8/10] This was a very nice silent little Drama series. Nothing world moving, but just a cute story of someone getting a second chance of falling in love once again with his wife who died very young. | 23. | Comments by dekatrain [Rating: 7/10] Beautiful setting, unique plot and script...narimiya is good without being brilliant...story dulls down towards the end but it's still quite a satisfying drama if not taken too seriously | 24. | Comments by jessiesoon [Rating: 7/10] i think the movie version is better...even tho the male lead is not as good looking as the drama version...but still, the movie version is better!!!
but i still like this drama.... | 25. | Comments by Kirari Ililah [Rating: 8/10] Very cute, but very stretched. The actor choices were good, but I'm betting the movie is better than the drama version. It's a nice calm drama to watch, and Narimiya did well | 26. | Comments by oldasianguy [Rating: 10/10] I gave ths series a 10 even though I thought the movie was better...
It's pretty difficult to carry the theme of the series for so many episodes...Mimura deserves a 10... | 27. | Comments by emiko [Rating: ?/10] complete.. watching raw version with my poor skills in nihongo T_T .. but nari's realli exceptional in this one.. and mimu-chan's so cute along with that lil kid :) | 28. | Comments by ct_subang [Rating: 6/10] Since i've watched the movie version...the drama was pretty much self explanatory...though i must say tht YuuJi-kuuun...stole the story...i heart him...awwww | 29. | Comments by uhno [Rating: 9/10] I absolutely loved this drama. It was sweet. I recommend this one for sure. I like the fact that it is different, yet able to convey everyday human emotion. | 30. | Comments by qilver [Rating: ?/10] This series, i am currently watching. 1. | pretear77 A good drama. the building up on the relationship btw Mio and Takumi during the 6 weeks is better than the movie. However, the stroy tends to be draggy as a result. Nevertheless, can still watch on. When 1st knew dat the lead actor and actress are the young stars, a bit disappointed, cos I think their acting are only so-so. However, after watching, i give thumbs up to the male lead. He really convinced me dat he can act. | 2. | robbo4 Sweet, sad, uplifting, emotional, funny, happy, and magical. At times you get any one of these and many more. The characters are memorable, the actors are superb, and camera work and direction artistic and tasteful.
