Katsuhisa was a bad choice for the father because, despite of his good acting, he made me laugh every time when i saw him on the screen because of his hilarious roles in the past. All in all just beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful. It's exactly "my style" of Dorama. A bit sad, but with a smooth storyline. The important parts are the beginning and the ending, which tell a wonderfully round story. Corrected: Now that I'm a few years older and grew up I could see the meaning of this dorama. A group of five people are trying to master growing up. Good acting and also quite a realistic plot. I like that it does not stop after their University years but makes a break showing that they are still struggling and growing up is not a matter of time or the life situation that you are in. Although you can categorize this as "suspense", the low-level suspense and rather weak attempts of creating emotional deepness did not make this a good Dorama. It's the unpredictable and very mature story which impressed me. The story arch is excellent. The weakest point about this is that it's hard to watch the many idiotic misses on both sides which hindered them on being sucessful.

Everybody says this is about a sad romance, but I couldn't see the romantic part in any point. For me, this is a suspenseful thriller and an interesting human drama. The two main actors have, again, great chemistry, but there is nearly no romantic love, it's more a strange symbiotic connection.
The weak point about this is the implausible bad police/ detective work. With simple methods like fingerprints on the gas valve or modern ones like DNA analysis of hairs they would habe been convictable from the start and on every later crime. |

The main roles are over-acted on purpose making it possible that the surprisingly deep characters are only revealed on the second look. Good mix of friendship and romance. The Idea that the side role Jun narrates the story brings in a light-hearted touch.The overall mood of this dorama and the characters of the protagonists depict the mood of that time very well: Loud, free-minded and hedonistic. Very good Dorama with a recent topic: Depicting the different types of singles. THe storyline was quite unusual with a lot of good turns, but became a bit predictable towards the latter half. Kusanagi Tsuyoshi was just the perfect cast for this unusual main role which was very deep by being eccentric and socoiphobic and on the other hand very gentle, understanding and self-sacrificing. In most stages you could not read his mind. Kitagawa Keiko also had her best role in this so far in which she could - for the fist time - show her astonishingly fine mimics. The western-style music was a really good choice and the overal chemistry of the actors was very good. I also liked the 90s-style scenes which came from time to time |

It's a drama full of perfect youth memories I've never had. Especially remarkable is the "power", that is the chemistry between the main characters, Hiro and Hikari in particular. You can't imagine the tension between these two until you see it. Weak points are: everything including the all-japan championship seemed so easy, all this was only a vehicle for the love entanglements. And the end, you always rooted for Hiro and Hikari but it ended like it should and like you can figure out from the beginning. The symbolic of the settings was brought in well (sea in last ep. or the "seasons"-ending in general). Great acting.

This dorama, has blown me away from the start right to the end. After watching an epiosode, it gave me like 10 minutes to think about. Such an emotionally dense journey I haven't been taken by a dorama for a long, long time. The emotional depth is so high that every action which is done can be interpreted in many ways so I always was thrilled to see what the reasons were. It hits right the nerve of (also me) being 26 years. Only, the play of Fukuyama wasn't that good, also the other actors were only average. But somehow they managed to overcome that and build a good chemistry and could deliver the emotional depth.

It is well-acted, has a good storyflow (tough sometimes a bit too dorama-like/predictable) and adresses problems in the japanese society. IMHO it has too much constructed shocking moments. Very refreshing dorama with an unusual topic: How strong are family bounds when you strain them? What brings you happiness: Wealth, fame or your family bonds? Most of the acting was very good and the plots of the teacher are really unpredictable which surprised my every time. I liked that this dorama continued and really got started on a point of each character's development, where others would have stopped already. |

Wow.
The sidestories are a bit strange and not so well-developed, but the main story had an amazing impact on me in the last two episodes. When the series starts, you think that the teacher Ikumi is the worst person alive and doesn't deserve to live. And you see Hina as the childish schoolgirl of 17. Later on, Hina develops vastly and grows up, more than Ikumi ever had. But you get to understand Ikumis ways and feelings nearly complete. The end of the story is very sad, but not in the plain way, much more subtle; it mixes up your feelings. Seeing Hina in the ending scene I would describe as the "saddest happy end" I've ever watched.
PS: For the "DUMB" and "SUCKS" people:
Watch this to the very end!!! Or you'll never get to understand this dorama with its many twists. There was a part when I was annoyed by the sidestories, too. Therefore 8 points, but the ending full points.

Well, pretty average. Good actors with average cuteness acting in an average story. Only Ryo convinces completely. I think the storyline is pretty much stripped down to the love relationships, nothing besides it. For me, too many couples (nearly EVERY main character forms a couple with another), way too much "coincidents", a bit too much kitsch, what results from the christmas setting, I think.

Very, very dense athmosphere. Every single episode makes you sweat from the first to the last minute, until the pressure drops slowly in the last ep, so you wouldn't be left unsatisfied. It's a bit disappointing that there are some illogically obvious forms of bullying which just couldn't happen. Especially for the Western people who would think "why isn't she speaking up much earlier!?"disturbing to watch, but you can see Japanese society's darkest side in perfection. |

Such a heartwarming Dorama. I'm in my graduation time now and this was like the "ultimate dorama" now. Not only that I reflected my own high school life, but I actually felt the spirit of it in the Dorama. I felt joy while seeing Makio getting the puddings, I fell in love with U-u-umemurasan, I felt the sadness he did. Every episode was terrifically hilarious beacuse well over-acted. Yuki IS the sexiest chick alive. I personally find it sad that Tatsuya's plans did not work out. At any time he got soft and turned back to his hobbling girl I was a bit disappointed. Pretty Standard Dorama, but it missed to create an atmosphere for quite a long time whitch the rather thin storyline could not compensate. This doraa is far from outstanding. I like this Drama especially because of the story and esp. the ending being much closer to reality than most other romantic dramas. Despite of being produced as early as '91 it was refreshing to watch. The main character's hesitating attitude is somewhat painful to watch, but I can understand him.

Hmm. Trick 2 is a hilarious show, especially when you are able to understand the japanese language jokes. IMHO they concentrated too much on the humorous part this time. Unless Trick 1, this squel lacks a constant in the storyline, and the "tricks" are not as nearly as tensioning as in the original Dorama from 2000. It's between 6 and 7 points, I think. Hope for a good Trick 3.

Very classic dorama-typical lovestory. Started off very heartwarming and lovely with charming actors. But the story lost its hook and drive in the last few eps. It became very predictable to that point i could foresee what was going to happen right next an what the characters will say. |

A Dorama about twens who are figuring out theri directions in life. The setting is generally dark, but in a fine and subtle way. Had a very slow and dragging start but caught up in the midlle to get really good in the last episodes. For me, it was not only entertaining but a bit of a lesson in life. Very good actors of that time (especially very cute Fukkatsu Eri and young Kimura Takuya with very good acting) and a nice soundtrtack from Mr. Children. It is a timeless show as all ups and downs they had seemed very plausible to me even now. |

Basically enjoyable Dorama, which good moments are the comical ones. Good cast. The romance was flat, childish and kitschy. Miss those old 90's days. But the main point about this is the comedy. First half a bit repetitive like Gokusen. |

This, again, is a real lesson in life. The story doesn't dive into the deepest crates of emotions, but that wasn't the intention, I think. Very realistic and down-to-earth aprroach on the problems of young grown-ups finding their place they belong. The main character, Shu, develops very nicely, while his two friends do not. But personality-wise they already had grown up, but struggled and eventually overcame their problems from their past.

One of the best shows for a long time. Very good and exciting love story. The two main characters have an elsewhere rarely seen good chemistry. Not the mandatory clumsy kiss in the end, but they treating each other very gently.
The overall series gives a good lesson on how to live your life right and do the right/best things. In school, it is taught that you have to take an opinion/position for yourself at first, and then defend it to the very end, even if you are realizing halfways that you were wrong, otherwise you lose face. Sometimes it is just better to hear on your feelings and re-evaluate the circumstances to do the best for everyones sake, even if it means that you have to break promises and not standing to your word. | Zettai Kareshi [絶対彼氏]
