| 1. | A bit slow but okay [Rating: 6/10] I thought that Ame to Yume no atoni is a rather classic, a bit slow-paced, well-played dorama with a touch of originality (the very mild horror scenes in the first episodes) and some flaws in the script.
I say it is going a bit slow because right from the start, you know what the end will be since you know that the father is dead, so the whole story is to lead you to the moment when he'll have to say goodbye, and along the way they encounter other ghosts, unveil some information about the other characters, etc.
As bba1 said, there are many strange things about the ghosts that are left unexplained, and the reactions of the father does not always make perfect sense, but this is a simple domama and you have to accept these things to enjoy the rest of the story.
Now, the actors are all very good (note that in the jdorama database Hayami Mokomichi is mentioned first, but he is only playing a second plan character), and there is some comedic relief and some surprises in the story.
All in all, a nice watch, but not an unforgettable moment. | Reviewed by Jackykero on 26 October 2008 | 2. | Creepy & Tearful, but Questionable with Slight [Rating: 7/10] Good scariness to it, but the story was like a continuous cycle, the beginning & ending were the main keys, and the girls relationship with Mokomichi's character, though I wish it had a little more "umph" in the story, I guess you could say. I like the scary ghost encounters and the fathers situation and the neighbor, she was cool, but it's not the best story. I still do recommend this drama though, the girl is an AWESOME actress. | Reviewed by Kirari Ililah on 14 April 2006 | 3. | must watch! [Rating: 10/10] This is without question the weirdest premise for a drama that I have ever seen. I wasn't at all sure what to expect, but I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it truly is. It's not just good, it's astonishingly good. It's amazing how this show can be frighteningly creepy one minute, then hilariously funny the next - and then painfully, heart-wrenchingly sad, without any warning. It's unpredictable and surreal and enthralling. | Reviewed by maui on 22 June 2006 | 4. | Yu Miri, not Miri Ryu [Rating: 8/10] This drama is actually based on a book by Yu Miri (not Ryu) and the two are VERY different from each other. However, the drama by itself is a very great interpretation of the story - the characters are really fleshed out, and it's a lot lighter than the book is. The book is categorized as "fantasy horror" and it definitely lives up to it. | Reviewed by awrittensin on 21 September 2005 | 5. | really worth watchin [Rating: 8/10] This is a great dorama. It has a well-mix of genre. It has sad, funny, a little romance, and horror in it. Love how each episode has it's own surprise. You will obviously know the ending after watching the first episode. Great opening theme... | Reviewed by monta on 17 November 2006 | 6. | Really nice drama! [Rating: 9/10] One of the best drama series I saw lately. It's funny, scary and, at the end, pretty sad, but it's really really worth watching. The characters interacted really well. Recommended! | Reviewed by Kayono on 5 November 2005 |

| 1. | Comments by ScrappedShinigami [Rating: 9/10] A fantastic show and a real emotional rollercoaster. Sawamura Ikki is a really fantasitc and charasmatic actor, I really felt for hsi character he made me laugh and cry, he was really fantastic in his role. All the supporting cast did a fantastic job too, there wasn't a character that I did not like or that I thought didn't do a good job.
Like when I watched 1 Litre of Tears I knew the end was inevitable, which made it all the more heart renching.
Anyway a really fantastic show definitely underrated and definitely deserves a watch <3 | 2. | Comments by occultangle [Rating: 10/10] One of the best dramas I've seen. The funny thing is though, that I was able to guess just about every plot twist. The big revelation in episode 9 I had already realized in the first episode, but I find it sort of satisfying that way. There was one episode in the middle where I thought the series would head in a frustrating direction that I couldn't accept, but it was resolved by the end of that very episode in such a beautiful way. Thats when I realized how much I loved this drama. | 3. | Comments by Cerebus [Rating: 7/10] Sweet story of the love between a dead father's ghost and his daughter. This gets better as it goes along, the initial standalone supernatural stories didn't really work, but once the main arc started things improved no end. Sentimental without ever being mawkish and it ended on the perfect note. Sawamura Ikki and especially Kurokawa Tomoka where excellent as the father and daughter respectively. | 4. | Comments by Ezalor [Rating: 8/10] All in all just beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful. It's exactly "my style" of Dorama. A bit sad, but with a smooth storyline. The important parts are the beginning and the ending, which tell a wonderfully round story. The middle episodes felt a bit like fillers, as they weren't story-criticall at all, so only 8 points instead of 9. At last, I'd like to highlight the beautiful title of this dorama. | 5. | Comments by sadacori [Rating: 8/10] This series was quite unique. Part of it had a creepy horror element, but for the most part, it was a touching drama between a girl and her father, who lives with her as a ghost without her knowing that he is dead.
Yuu Miri wrote this drama as well as the theme song "Ame to Yume no Ato ni," which is sung by Okuda Miwako (you can see her singing in the club in one episode). | 6. | Comments by aoi_dolphine [Rating: 8/10] I chanced upon this drama and decided to give it a try. Not a bad drama. I was expecting more of a horror theme but than it's more of a mystery and family theme. It's a story about the father and daughter relationship. I must say the bond between the 2 characters are very strong. It's touching for some of the stories in this drama. | 7. | Comments by Precious Bamboo [Rating: 9/10] *spoiler warning*
Does anyone know why everyone was able to see Akiko? Maybe I missed something but I don't think it was explained. This big plot hole is the only reason I didn't rate this series a 10..hope someone has the answer and I just missed something ^^ | 8. | Comments by tachan [Rating: 8/10] Starts out slow, but the second half is excellent. I guess it's kind of a ghost story, but it really focuses on the relationship between father-daughter (even though he is in ghost form, lol). I really enjoyed it and thought it was touching. | 9. | Comments by Jackykero [Rating: 6/10] Classic, a bit slow-paced, well-played dorama with a touch of originality, some comedic relief and some surprises in the story (very very mild horror scenes). I cried in nearly every episode. I would almost have given it 10 points but it made me cry too much; it was painful. | 11. | Comments by emiko [Rating: 8/10] watch this with no feelings at first. didn't expect that I would fall in love with this series. the story is unique and you just cannot help but feel sorry for Tomoharu n Ame T_T | 12. | Comments by gaijinmark [Rating: 8/10] Not really a horror or supernatural drama, more like a family drama in a supernatural setting. I really liked the work between Sawamura and Kurokawa. | 13. | Comments by lawsco [Rating: 8/10] Enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. Starts slow & seemed silly at first but keep watching & I suspect you'll end up liking it. | 14. | Comments by sinned12 [Rating: 8/10] One of the more heart warming dramas there is. It has everything to scary moments to laugh out loud moments. The ending was also magical.... | 15. | Comments by Ralbol [Rating: 9/10] Tres bien foutu. Scenar original, kimura tae tres tres fraiche, ambiance sympa. Et meme un peu d'emotion a la fin tiens. | 16. | Comments by Kirari Ililah [Rating: 7/10] Nice and scary they w it should be. Could work on the story, but the actors were good that it canceled out. ^^ | 17. | Comments by tabana [Rating: 10/10] Wow! An original and great story with an amazing cast. The themes it dealt with has been covered many times by other dramas, but somehow, I think this was the most convincing. | 3. | Sun_Shang_Xiang A supernatural drama with great perfomances from Sawamura Ikki, Kurokawa Tomoka and Kimura Tae. | 4. | maui Scary, funny, sad, touching | 5. | runpup |
