i loved this drama...very intense and well-done! i admit that it has some elements that resemble shiroi kyoto, but it actually has a different story altogether. I think the first episode will really make others think twice about continuing with the drama, but please don't let it stop you! it only gets better and more intense with every ep. i think the shine of this drama are koike teppei and inamori izumi; they've given powerful performances and definitely worth the watch! |

I would say it was overall entertaining, but I guess I didn't love the chemistry too much. I think Yada Akiko was unable to give an up to par performance or presence as Oda Yuji had in the drama. Oda, though not entirely cute and lovable, just has a kind of warmth and humility around him that just shines through. The story was kind of weak as well, but I guess Yada Akiko's performance had a lot to do with how luckluster it felt since the main climax revolved around her character. I don't understand why some people feel that Hirosue changed her character in the middle of the drama, I felt that there were definite hints at the start about what was going to happen. One lesson I learned from this drama is to never ask your bf if he still loves his ex AND tell him that his ex still loves him. It's like awakening an almost dead fire. hmmm what can i say.. it started out promising to be a well-thought of, mind-boggling and action-packed drama that had a twist of love in it... yet it was nothing of the above. action scenes were slow and boring, the drama part was cheesy, and worse of all, the story was poorly conceived and too predictable. it had a good start, which was one of the reasons why i kept watching (hoping that i'd eventually find something deep)..but by the end i realized this was just a waste of my time. one thing i realized after watching koori no sekai and this is that japanese aren't very good at writing suspense stories. =_=|| | ROOKIES [ルーキーズ]

I'm continually amazed by Tsumabuki's ability to portray a "barrier-free" heart. When I watch him in roles like this (check out his movie Josee), I remember how Takuya was in Beautiful Life. There are only a handful of men who can pull it off; men who could see past age, disabilities and all other "differences," and just see the woman for who she is.. ok, now i know why okada junichi is so "ninki" among women.. he's quite charismatic i must say.. the action scenes in the drama were pretty cool too for a japanese production.. but overall the story was weak and the episodes didn't connect at all.. not even in terms of character build-up. i'll def check out another okada drama from now on though :) | Stand UP!!

after 1 L of Tears, I was expecting a spectacular performance by Sawajiri again... but no such thing happened. It was as if her heart was not in this drama; throughout the drama you could feel her half-heartedness and lack of effort because as long as you have seen 1LoT, you know she could give so much more. The lead stars lacked chemistry, accompanied by an even more lackluster supporting cast and story. It's still a 7 because it's better than other dramas I've seen, but Sawajiri's shine has definitely gone down in my book. |

hmm i wonder why but i liked this teacher-student relationship drama far far more than let's say, gokusen or gachibaka. i guess it was because this drama felt a bit more real to me; the main character (teacher) was not a rare kind of breed that stood out from the rest; he was persistent, caring and supportive because that was how he was taught by his former teachers. and unlike other dramas of the same genre, he was not surrounded by a bunch of good for nothing fellow teachers. i appreciated its realism, how they didn't blame everything on the elders/parents/teachers. most importantly, i appreciated how they showed that only the person in question (students) could effect change, not their surroundings to change for them (eg. their parents suddenly changing after being scolded.) let's just say it was less mushy. :P | Yasashii Jikan [優しい時間]

watched it for nagasawa masami. i kinda found her portrayal here disturbing, esp when she blanks out as she drops plates.. her expression shows something deeper and more warped than the explanation that she has suicidal tendencies. anyway the drama was overall not too bad, but it's not the kind that would get you hooked. i didn't see how the customers and their stories had any effect on the progression of the drama, that's why I guess most people found this extremely dragging. With the title, I think the drama is meant to be slow and gentle and beautiful; it is - but it lacked the most important thing of all - depth. |

XD frankly speaking, there's not much sense to this drama; you don't know where it's going to or why it was even made. i guess it's a kind of fiction/fantasy made for the modern Japanese - that there exists a group of people who could help them escape from their financially-burdened lives & let them restart again.
