In 1550, young Inuchiyo, son of Maeda Toshimasa, meets for the first time, Matsu, who has been adopted by the Maeda Family. That night, Oda Nobunaga appears and asks Inuchiyo to become his retainer. 1. Pride for being a complete man [Rating: 10/10]
Maeda Inuchiyo..Called Toshie by Hisfriend and Family call 'Inu' bu his beloved master Oda Nobunaga..SInce I already read 'Taiko' watching closely to learn da similarity with da book...seem like learning history from the movie..Yes this man [ TOshiee] WHo born in the time of Chaoes where Daimyo fight each other for fame,Rich and Power..Da difference of this man is He live according to da law of Bushido in all aspect of his live..Love,Courage,Honour as a man who serve under Nobunaga Family..Lots of Intrigue,Jealousy among Oda follower's and along the series u'll see Matsu ,Toshiee soulmate who not only love him but also support him during his carrer. [Typical old japanese woman we all love] Loyal to her husband, motivate him and being there when TOshie in trouble..Even this is historical Jseries..I can't count how many times I cry watching this one..Most of da support Character in this story including legendary general Shibata Katsuie,Niwa,Genba by wathing this one really learn more about their character....It is really hard being a righteous man...but I learn alot from this character Maeda InuchiyoI know like Oda,Hideyoshi..A must seen Jseries I think because it have Romance and da emotion of each charater perform here is flawless..BAckground song seem like pull u back to da meiji era

2. Strong, not brillliant [Rating: 8/10]
This period drama has a top-notch cast and a plot that continually engaging, but Matsushima Nanako holds the whole thing together as the wife of a minor general during the era of the Warring States. We come into contact with all of the major figures of the time, and one or two stretches are genuinely touching. You'll never forget Matsu's, "I'll take care of it" - an assurance that holds her clan together time after time.

This is more of a family drama, and so may not have as man of the breathtaking fights as the most successful period dramas. This works on a lower key, but still quite competent.

3. One of the finest taiga dramas [Rating: 10/10]
This and Musashi are my two favorite taiga dramas. An amazing cast and outstanding story. Although the main focus was on Maeda Toshiie (Inu) the story covered Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Iieyasu very well and the intereaction and life of all the major players during the unification of Japan and warring era. Also the interaction between Mataza and his wife the famous Matsu was outstanding.

Amazing cast interesting story lots of action what more can you ask for?

A period drama that tops them all. An epic of extraordinary vision. Brilliantly cast, Karasawa Toshiaki is the ultimate kibuki mono in his role of Toshiie! Nanako Matsushima, perfect as the ever knowing Matsu.
What a fantastic experience! Do yourself a favor and watch it.

Few things to add. In my feeling the best Taiga Drama in the past seven years. The cast for the main characters is excellent and very convincing. Same goes for the historical plot line. In the smaller roles you got to love Matsudaira Ken as "Oyaji" Shibata Gonroku.

One of the best taiga doramas ever. Excellent cast with Sorimachi a very convincing Oda Nobunaga and Nanako as a great Matsu. Toshiaki Tarasawa played the Toshiie character with passion. The two husband/wife on screen duo had great chemistry. Excellent storyline and this period of Japanese history, Sengoku Jidai, is one of the most interesting. Great historical characters from war books coming to life before your very eyes. You got Hideyoshi, Tokugawa, Date Masumune, etc. Doesn't get much better than that for an Asian history buff like me. Like I said, a gorgeous cast. A lot of eye candy for both sexes. Beautiful music. So impressive that I bought the CD soundtrack from a local japantown. Hard to find, but worth the get.

This Taiga drama is very hard to find. But there is one seller who is selling it on Ebay, gingertoys2. They're dvdrs and they're good quality. I highly recommend this title. It will be worth your time.

Aside from this I also enjoyed Musashi and Genroku Ryouran (Chushingura)
The currently running Koumyou ga Tsuji (or Komyo ga tsuji) might come close ...

Pretty cool.It teaches viewers about the Sengoku Jidai that isn't well known outside of Japan.Maeda Toshiie's undying loyalty to the great Oda Nobunaga was clearly shown throughout the show.He being the main character of the show is acceptable. And just simply look at the number of big name artistes in the show!!!No wonder it's just that good!

Nanako is in it enuff said! Interesting Taiga drama - I had no idea about the strong bond between Toshiie Maeda and his wife Matsu. History tends to focus more on Hideyoshi and Oda Nobunaga and of course Tokugawa Ieyasu, so it was treat to learn more about the lesser known vassal.

My first ever Taiga Drama.... It was so great... I got so confused with the characters though.. Although the show explained who was who but the names were always blocked by the chinese subs. Anyways.. because of this, I became more and more interested in Japanese history.....

Very interesting view of the transition from Nobunaga to Toyotomi to Tokugawa from the eyes of Maeda Toshiie and his wife, two powerful political figures of the Warring States period. I think it enhanced my understanding of the historical events quite a bit.

I give this and 8 because it's good and I like it but I couldn't finish it..not because it's bad..it's because theres so many names and stuff that I get confused and there's so many episodes! Matsushima Nanako is awesome!

Good historical drama. I've only seen a few episodes so far, but have enjoyed them thoroughly. Love the costumes, and the fact that this historical piece has more than one or two women in it!

Great Taiga Drama. The star-stub cast really does deliver and much more. Gripping story line, I finished watching it in 5 days! All 49 episodes. Highly recommended!

Is it an historical drama or a love story? It's both! And it works on both levels. If you're only able to watch one taiga in your life, this is the one to watch.

Great dramatization of lesser known figures from the end of the sengoku-jidai, although Hideyoshi and his wife Onene are prominent.

One of the best Taiga doramas. Nearly equal with Musashi I think. Fight scenes were not as great but the political maneuvering and the bucket loads of historical figures and events more than make up for it. Strong acting by Nanako and Sorimachi and the actor that played Toshiie. I can watch this over and over again if I had the time.

This show has a very high production value. There are so many great character and stars that portray these legendary character very well. The drama is like a epic. Even though it is 40+ ep. I was never bored of it for even a second. Nanako is very good in this one and very beautiful.
3. Techie
My all time high, number one dorama ever.
I saw it once, I saw it twice then I spent 17 hours re-visiting 16 episodes in a row.

My eyes square, however much satisified with this heartfilled dorama.

Two thumbs up plus a few toes.

Might be boring, but It helped me to understand the timeflow of japanese history during that era.
