It strikes as very life-real with lots of pause between dialogs, but even then there's no wasted moment. A deep blow for Kitagawa Eriko, the screen-writer. But not recommended for those who like happy dramas though. Beautiful Life has a gem of a soundtrack with a superb main theme by B'z and heart-breaking numbers by Mizoguchi Hajime, a well-known cellist, who also composed music for "Hoshi No Ginka /Heaven's Coin 1 & 2".Convincing job form Takako Tokiwa again. With great directing and acting skills, plus amazing soundtrack, this drama is like a roller-coaster-ride, will not only keep you holding your breath tensely right to the end, it will also be so entertaining that it's one satisfying way to spend weekends at home! Fantastic soundtrack by Taro Iwashiro who also composed all the romantic numbers in "With Love". One of my favorites too. The ending was full of suspense and no to mention surprises! I spent almost 12 hours straight to find out who the real killer is. Takenouchi Yutaka and Matsushima Nanako looks great together but this is not just an eye-candy show. A very good thing with J-dorama is once again: the amazingly cool soundtrack. The ending was no surprise! Typical Kimura type character and Yamaguchi's character could drive people crazy!! Her character will stay with you for a while. The sound track is simply great and I have the 3 CDs version in my collection. A fun-to-watch drama with relaxing pace and romantic atmosphere. Although I feel it's sort of an extension from Long Vacation, because Miki's crazy character feels almost the same with Minami's (but she's definitely lacking Minami's originality). And the old girfriend theme annoys me a little bit. But the ending was quite alright. Altogether a nice drama and hey, it's Kimura Takuya... And his acting is always good. One of my all time favorites. Great chemistry between stars, this couple looks great together, and the ending make you feel happy! This is what Japanese drama is all about. Good story line but it was a little slow at the beginning.The ending is vague/not clear! I believe something is missing at the end of this dorama. I think the original book is a little bit different. The ending make you feel happy! I was actually surprised about how good this drama turned out to be! I'm just curious whether Matsu is really like this in person. This drama is written by Kitagawa Eriko (who wrote Long Vacation and later the huge-hit Beautiful Life). I specially like this drama because of Sorimachi's VERY good mature acting here and Esumi Makiko is as always very good too! In GTO or Beach Boys, Sorimachi always does his funny faces (I like that too, but believe me, he's a lot more mature/cooler here!) Many beautiful dialogs exchanged between Sorimachi and Esumi who hovers between friends and lovers. I don't wanna spoil the atmosphere but the ending is not what we would expect. But still VERY touching ending. The heart-breaking last scene really makes the whole drama worth watching. Not enough touching moments in between. Although this was written by the same writer created Long Vacation, its not at the same level. I'm a little disappointed with this drama when comparing it to Long Vacation. |

The first few episodes although laughable were quite dull, But the real gem here, is again the last episode. VERY satisfying end with HAPPY TEARS all over. Great performances by Takenouchi Yutaka as a perfect NERD ! He's so clueless sometimes and you can't help feeling sorry for him. Tokiwa is as good as usual. Brilliant performances come from the older generation, four elders who play both side's parents. Now, that's GREAT acting! Nogiwa Yoko is a very good actress who played Tsukikage Sensei in "Garasu No Kamen/ Glass Mask". Takenouchi Yutaka and Tokiwa Takako are quite good. Since the Sleeping Forest, the maturing writer's view of human emotion/nature gets a lot deeper now. All three main stars were great, especially Takuya and Fukatsu.
