Ace wo Nerae! [エースをねらえ!]
Just got. Will watch soon. | Ai Nante Irane Yo, Natsu [愛なんていらねえよ、夏] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) I liked this. Story of how a con artist who wanted to con a blind girl of her family fortune by posing as her brother but ended up falling in love with her instead... I thought Atsuro was great, as he portrayed the emotions of a softened criminal really well. Hirosue was.. well..Hirosue! haha.. This drama starts off rather slowly, but picks up good pace arouns the middle. Nice story theme centred upon survival and trust, and a good soundtrack to boot makes this an excellent watch. | Aikurushii [あいくるしい] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Not Bad!! The drama grows more on you the more you watch it, and from halfway through it becomes rather addictive actually. I really liked Gou's character, he's a true brother. And not to mention he gets all the screen time with the lovely Erika, in one of her debut dramas :P. A decent family drama. |
Akarui Hou e Akarui Hou e [明るいほうへ 明るいほうへ] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) | Ao no jidai [青の時代] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) I thought this was rather surprisingly good. Tsuyoshi played the role of a bad boy really really well, and the way he protected Akane almost till death was rather touching of a guy who found it hard to express love. Liked it. | Attention Please [アテンションン プリース] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) It's not as great as the top 50 would say it is. Just the over bubbly Aya at her best (or worse...) |
Beach boys [ビーチボーイズ] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) A fun, light-hearted and easy to absorb drama without a deep storyline. It's about 2 men who spent the summer at a beachhouse they encountered by accident. Each episode focuses on the personal issues of one of the characters in the beachhouse, and how they go about solving it. Takashi Sorimachi is great in this drama even though I don't rate him that much... he added lots of charisma and zest. Great scenery, great soundtrack. | Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) I hate sad endings. I actually teared up at the end for this one. That does not happen very often for me. Not even Summer Snow evoked the same reaction in me as Beautiful Life did.. it's brilliant. | Bijo ka Yajuu [美女か野獣] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Highly entertaining. Not much romantic development between the characters though... only in certains scenes do they show hints of still loving each other.. this is more like a love-hate thing.. |
Blackjack ni Yoroshiku [ブラックジャックによろしく]
Just bought. Will watch soon. | Boku dake no Madonna [僕だけのマドンナ] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Very very sweet drama!! ^_^ I enjoyed it very much. Light hearted, fun and doesn't take itself to seriously... Hasegawa Kyoko is very very beautiful in this show, and she did a good acting job as the eccentric, fun loving but emotionally confused Kataoka Surumi. Takky was great as wee as Kyo. The soundtrack of this drama is also very good indeed, from the theme song to several instrumental pieces used in the drama. Overall, Highly recommended!!!~~ | Boku ga boku de aru tame ni [僕が僕であるために] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Fairly ok short movie.... I watched it mainly because of the absolutely star studded cast haha... The drama was ok in it's own right, the story about a groupo of marathon runners was good but not engaging. I thought there were a bit too many side plots for a short movie.. |
Boku no Ikiru Michi [僕の生きる道] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Haha.. Quite an absorbing tale about a teacher Nakamura Hideo, who found out he was dying and proceeds to make the most of the remainder of his life. So determined he is that he does things that he wouldn't have normally done, and in the process influences and affects the lives of others. The lovely Akiko Yada was great in this one, although I didn't really like Tsuyoshi Kasanagi.. Thought he was a bit stiff.. maybe it's just really good acting I dunno? ha :P... Great theme song by SMAP "Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana" but I guess it isn't a platinum seller for nothing huh..
Recommended!!~ | Boku to Kanojo to Kanojo no Ikiru Michi [僕と彼女と彼女の生きる道] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Good drama focusing on the theme of divorce. Not much of an intriguing story, as it focuses pretty much on how a man changes his outlook on life because of his daughter. Nevertheless, it's worth a watch as it presents a refreshing change of theme from all the other dramas. The girl acting as Rin was really good in this, not to mention extremely cute as well lol... I could really relate to her feelings very well from personal experiences. However as before, I don't really fancy Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's plank-like acting, and this drama hasn't really done much to make me think otherwise. | Bus stop [バスストップ] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmmm... quite good but predictable romantic story. Well to do lady slowly but surely falls for a lowly bus driver who spares no effort and expense in wooing her. Good acting by the cast, but the story is a bit slow moving at times. Quite good overall. |
Byakuyakou [白夜行]
| Chuushingura 1/47 [忠臣蔵 1/47] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) A watchable drama with strong themes of honour, loyalty and friendship, life and death. I was a bit disappointed that Matsu Takako got only a few cameo appearances with Kimura, but everything was ok otherwise. | Dekichatta Kekkon [できちゃった結婚] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) The drama that got me started!! Very funny for the first few episodes, but gets serious afterwards. I loved Ryunosuke's reaction when he found out Chiyo was pregnant! That gun scene was just hilarious! |
Densha Otoko [電車男] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Incredibly funny drama. Started off well and carried on at a good pace. Pretty nice soundtrack too. However, my only gripe was that the ending was a little disappointing. Didn't quite keep up to the standards of the rest of the show. It's highly recommended for its unique type of love story. | Double score [ダブル スコア] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Hmm.. interesting to see Takashi Sorimachi as a police detective..otherwise not my cup of tea.. | Dr. Koto Shinryojo [Dr.コトー診療所] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) I thought this was an excellent drama indeed. This drama tells the tale of Dr Koto coming to an island to work only to find that the entire community doesn't trust him. He slowly but surely wins them over through his dedication and sincerity. The theme song for this drama is also excellent. It really got me hooked onto it... Highly recommended!~~ |
Dragon Zakura [ドラゴン桜] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) hmmm... very interesting HIroshi Abe character here. He's a very results orientated teacher who has unorthodox but effective methods to get even the worst students into Todai, Japan's Top University. This is reasonably different enough from GTO for those who like variety in their teacher dramas. | Egao no Hosoku [笑顔の法則] Rating: 5/10 (Bought & Watched) Oh...so....very..slow...drama... I feel that this is quite dull actually... Currently on the 3rd disc and struggling, even though Takeuchi Yuko is starring... Will give this a break for a moment and I will write some proper comments once I finish this... | Engine [エンジン] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmmm a good drama, but not my fave Kimura one though. As a Formula 1 fan, I was hoping to see him involved in a bit more races, but alas.. Anyhow, Kimura acts as the impetuous and almost completely oblivious Jiro this time round. At first he cares only about what affects him directly, but soon after living some time at the child's home, he learns to care about others too. I thought the entire supporting child cast was great. Some scenes were quite touching. A good drama, but I felt it didn't bring out the best of Kimura. |
Fire Boys [ファイアーボーイズ 〜め組の大吾〜] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) This is an excellent drama!!! I enjoyed it all the way through as the storylines were varied and good. It shows all the trials and tribulations of being a firefighter.. from pranks calls, arsonists to even the death of a member of the team... Daigo's selfless spirit really inspired me.. and I really had this immense respect for his character all the way through.. Also, Uchiyama Rina is getting cuter and cuter with each passing drama :P On the down side, the theme music is one of the worst I've heard for a drama though.. really didn't like it at all... Otherwise, this is a really enjoyable drama for those in need of inspiration haha.. Highly Recommended!~ | Friends [フレンズ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Very very touching story about the love between a Japanese girl and Korean guy. They faced a lot of difficulties because of the different culture and language problems but strived to keep their relationship going. I liked Fukakyon in this show, she did a great job IMO. Also, watching the "making of", you could see she is really a hard worker. Won Bin, good acting, looks like Kimura Takuya A LOT. Overall, highly enjoyable drama!!~~ | Fukigen na Jiin [不機嫌なジーン] (Bought) |
Gakkou no sensei [ガッコの先生] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Although similar to GTO in style, the fact that this was based in an elementary school makes the whole drama heartwarming in character. There was not a lot of romantic development between Sentaro and Motoko, but you know there's definitely a love-hate realationship here... Like 'Hero" and 'Good Luck", Gakkou no Sensei focuses more on the occupation than the romance. Highly enjoyable. | Gokusen [ごくせん] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Tries hard to be GTO. Even though I keep telling myself to give this another chance, I can't help but compare and this just isn't as good or funny. Don't get me wrong, it is still an enjoyable drama but it may be diificult to keep yourself glued to this one after GTO. | Golden Bowl [ゴールデンボウル] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Highly enjoyable drama. Love the ending cause it made you think about how the impossible can be possible if you believe hard enough. |
Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Good drama. Lots of insight provided on the things that happen inside the cockpit of the plane during a flight. I was really moved by the fact that Shinkai was always looking to help his passengers however he can, even though he was not supposed to. I also felt inspired by Shinkai's determination to be a pilot at the end! | GTO [麻辣教師] Rating: 10/10 I bought this because it was no. 1 on the list, and my god it doesn't disappoint. A truly funny and inspiring drama, showing that YOU can make a difference in other's lives. | H2~Kimi to itahibi [2〜君といた日々] (Bought) |
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Absolutely funny drama. You really have to agree with all the hype on this drama. There are some parts which is simply comedy gold. That said, Inoue Mao puts on a rather good performance I might add, and the appearance of a certain Matsushima Nanako as Doumyouji's sister is a big plus too! | Hana Yori Dango Season 2 [花より男子] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmmm, a little slow to start with the Shigeru saga but picked up slightly towards the finale. Despite all the fighting and rejection between Tsukushi and Doumyouji, it really is a sweet sweet love story between them. The insert song, Hikki's Flavor of Life, is a must-hear song. :) | Hatachi no Koibito [ハタチの恋人]
|
Hero Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Quite entertaining because of the great acting by Matsu and Takuya. They always seem to have that kind of spark togther. I didn't understand Hero deeply because the Chinese subs in this one was too complicated, but I got the gist of the stories here and there. I loved Kouhei's quirky TV shopping addiction, whenever he was using his exercise machines it was hilarious!! | Hiroshima Showa 20 nen 8 Gatsu Muika [広島・昭和20年8月6日] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Hitotsu yane no shita 1 [ひとつ屋根の下 1] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Now I see why this is acclaimed to be the granddaddy of all family dramas. A highly enjoyable show with many good storylines. Eguchi Yosuke plays the highly emotional big brother well, one moment he's laughing hysterically and the next he's crying his eyes out.. I loved the scene where he strangles the lady thinking that she kidnapped his younger brother...hilarity. This show has provided the inspiration for newer ones such as Hotman. Great acting by the cast, intriguing storyline. Highly recommended!!~ |
Hitotsu yane no shita Season 2 [ひとつ屋根の下 2] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) My god!!! This is even better than the first instalment!!! One of the reasons is the addition of Matsu Takako to the series, as it made it more appealing to me. The Kashiwagi family returns this time with all new intriguing storylines and troubles, and also see a couple of additions to the family home. We some some family members trying to come to terms with events that happened in the first instalment, as well as others looking to seek a new life elsewhere. The last storyline in the show is GUARANTEED to keep you glued to the screen till the very end as well as play every emotion ever known to you in your heart. No joke. This is the best family drama ever IMO. | Home Drama [ホームドラマ] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmmm.. Family drama with a difference. Very interesting to see how 8 strangers learns to live together beacuse of a common tragedy. A ver easy to watch drama, and as a result I think none of the drama's characters really taxed the stars acting skills in any way. At some points Tsuyoshi really does look like a girl with his haircut though lol.. Overall an enjoyable drama!~ | Hotman [ホットマン] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Great, great family drama. Every episode was enjoyable... and it's filled with numerous moments of pleasure and sadness.. I was so touched when Enzo drove his family out because he didn't want them to suffer anymore, then started to rebuild the house on his own...Akiko Yada is also super cute in this show..really love her here!~ |
Hotman Season 2 [ホットマン2] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Hmm.. not as good as the first. But watchable none the less. Although i do prefer Misaki Ito over Konishi Manami, I never got used to the change. | Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) Fantastic stuff. I thought this was just as good as Sekachu, if not better. The soundtrack is definitely better than Sekachu's, with Remioromen's 3 Gatsu 9 Ka high on my playlist at the mo. Sawajiri Erika is infinitely cute and did really really well. Love it. | Itazura na Kiss [イタズラなKiss] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmm a very slow burner for me... The story is somewhat enjoyable but Sato Aiko is just too eccentric for me in this drama.. Can't take her screeching.. Finished it at last.. but still not that impressed... |
Itoshi Kimie [愛し君へ] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) It was a good drama, but I found it to be a little too stretched out and thus a bit draggy. Very touching plot though, and the ending was top class tear jerker. This drama has an amazing soundtrack which will definitely tug at your emotions together with the storyline. | Itsumo futari de [いつもふたりで] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) I like this very much. Matsu Takako is very cute in short hair. But then she's cute whatever it is :) This is a light hearted, easy to understand drama, with more than its fair share of touching moments. I was especially touched when Mizuko said she'll stay by Hachi's side forever, but he pushed her away instead!! I felt so much for her when she broke down afterwards... | Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [神様、もう少しだけ] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmmm. relatively slow moving drama.. Good chemistry between Kaneshiro and Fukada... I can't believe the luck of Kaneshiro though... it seemed a bit far fetched... Didn't really fancy the whole AIDS storyline in the first place.. kinda depressing.. |
Kao [顔]
| Karei naru Ichizoku [華麗なる一族] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) This is fantastic. I didn't think I'd like it at first, but the storyline was so engaging I couldn't help but keep watching to see if Teppei got one over his dad in the end. Takuya was really nicely casted as Teppei, and his performance was top class I feel. Recommended!~ | Kekkon Dekinai Otoko [結婚できない男] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Brilliant! Hiroshi Abe does great in drama as an introverted perfection with OCD. The drama is light hearted, doesn't take itself too seriously, and the character development of Kuwano-san and all the people around him is paced really well. If you believe in love-hate relationships, you will enjoy this. |
Kiken na Aneki [危険なアネキ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Hmm... what can I say. I like Misaki Ito. A very different character portrayed to the one from her Densha Otoko days. In fact almost total opposites. A good drama if you want to see Misaki Ito's acting range. About the storyline, it was nothing too special but that's not to say it was dull either. I enjoyed it throughout. Shaku Yumiko is another big reason to see this drama. Very very attractive performance. | Kimi wa Petto [きみはペット] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) Ok drama... Very funny in places but then the whole "pet relationship" thing didn't work out for me.. I just felt wierd throughout watching this whole drama. MatsuJun as Momo was very hyperactive but I s'pose he had to bring out his "pet" character everytime he's with Sumire, but he's then he acts normal when not with Sumire. Eh??? This kind of left me feeling confused... | Koishite Shinitai [恋して死にたい] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) My very first ever Jdrama watched with my cousin. I wasn't much into Jdrama then but I enjoyed the cuteness of Fukada Kyoko!! |
Konna koi no hanashi [こんな恋のはなし]
Just bought. Will watch soon. | Konya wa eigyouchu [今夜は営業中] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Hilarious short drama about a director, Muraki (Kimura Takuya) trying to get someone famous on his show, and ends up trying to get ahem... Kimura Takuya of SMAP. Love the part where Kimura plays a bank robber with his fake shotgun and all..hilarity!! I'm also quite surprised that Takuya can sing so good in English!!! Good show for Kimura Takuya fans... | Koori no sekai [冰の世界] (Bought & Watched) The chinese subtitles is too complicated for me. haha.. Couldn't understand the show at all... It seems nice though. |
Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 [高校教師 2003] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmm fairly enjoyable drama. The characters get a bit wierd towards to the end though... seems like everybody has a psychological problem, and it made me feel a bit awkward. Ueto Aya is really cute in this... | Kurosagi [クロサギ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) This is great! I thought both Yamapi and Horikita Maki, both of whom I didn't really rate previously, did alright in this drama. Keeps you on the edge every episode until the last 2 episodes which in my opinion, was a big letdown. I was unexplicably drawn to Daite Senorita as well.. great song. | Last Christmas [ラストクリスマス] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) A very nice story with a high feel good factor. Ex hardass biker girl Aoi Yuri moves in next to Haruki Kenji's apartment, causing him a lot of grief thorugh the the joint door that both apartments share. Yuri has a soft side her however, and Kenji falls in love with her gradually. This drama is kept moving at a fast pace, which is great but sometimes too fast for it's own good as the ending felt a bit rushed. Props to Akiko Yada for looking absolutely smashing in this drama. The soundtrack was quite good in my opinion, although the retro WHAM songs may not suit everyone's taste. Overall, great drama. |
Long vacation [ロングバケーション] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Highly enjoyable drama. My first Kimura Takuya drama. Must say he was pretty good in this one, and so was Yamaguchi Tomoko. Great chemistry between them. | Love generation [ラブジェネレーション] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Kimura Takuya and Matsu Takako. What a lovely pairing. If only Kimura was married to her in real life. Ha oh well. Anyway this is a highly enjoyable drama, but there were a bit too many misunderstandings between characters. Most memorable part for me was the magic show Riko performed for Teppei on his birthday. She was soo cute in that scene!! :) I also enjoy love-hate relationships which is probably why I loved this so much. | Love letter Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) I really didn't understand this movie at all. Really confusing becasue it doesn't really develop the characters well enough to form a bond with them... |
Love Revolution [ラブレボリューション] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmmm.. Good drama about a middle aged single doctor strggling to come to terms of love. Sometimes I feel that she was trying to hard. If I were Kyoko, I probably wouldn't ever forgive Suga-san for what he did to her.. But that's just me haha.. | Lunch no Joou [ランチの女王] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmmm.. another light hearted drama with no real storyline but lots of yummy food!!!! This show really makes me wanna eat omelette rice with demiglace sauce lol.... A show about how the simplest things such as good food can bring the happiest joys on earth to people ^_^ | Majo no jouken [魔女の条件] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) Best drama I've watched, surpassing even GTO. I have never felt so attached to the main characters of the drama like this before... I loved every single minute of it. It really makes you think about how society shapes your life, and that the choices we make may not necessary be the ones we really want to.. |
Messengers [メッセンジャー] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Very funny and highly enjoyable movie... I chanced upon this on TV one night and it kept me entertain throughout... Love the part where they were chased by the bikers from the other company... | Minamikun no koibito [南くんの恋人] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmmm..love story with a twist. Fukada Kyoko was alright, but again her 'chou kawaiiiii' acting is a bit overboard at times. Ninomiya was ok as well. A watchable drama but nothing too special. Then ending was not that good thought IMO...it wasn't too my taste. In the end I felt the two main characters kinda "lost out" there... | Moto Kare [元カレ] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Great Show. Tsuyoshi and Hirosue really complimented each other very well. I love Uchiyama Rina in this show as well, honto kawaii!! The ending was a bit unrealistic though, but I was happy with it! |
Mukodono 2003 [ムコ殿2003] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) This is almost as good as the first Mukodono!~ !!! The beginning was a bit slow to get going but after Episode 3 it starts to become a great drama!!! Storyline wise, it's more or less the same as Mukodono!~ with Pop star Sakuraba Yuichiro helping out his new family in many ways. The part where he played for the dying child in the hospital in the middle of the night seriously touched me. Lastly, the actress who played Hikari (the star who fell in love with Sakuraba) is sooo cute!!!~ Love her to bits!!! Highly Recommended!!! | Mukodono! [ムコ殿/女婿大人] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Another highly enjoyable drama. Filled with very touching scenes and also very funny in places. I love it when he acts all cool YOSH!!~ and then when Sakura calls, claps boths his hands on his geeky face and yells out SAKURA!!~ | My Boss, My Hero [マイボスマイヒロ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Really funny drama at the beginning, but starts to drag on a little towards the end with too many cliches. Nice performance by Nagase Tomoya though, utilising his 'rubber face' to the maximum. |
My Little Chef Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) This is a nice drama with lots of Yummy food!!~ The story is in the same mould as Lunch no Joou, but it goes one step further. Not only does it show that good food can bring one unrivalled happiness, but that it also can change the course of life itself. Akiko Yada is supremely beautiful in this one...wow. Also the theme song "Voyage" by Ayumi Hamasaki is brilliant!!!! I have never really liked on of Ayumi's songs until I watched this drama haha... Recommended!~ | Nemureru mori [眠れる森] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Another gem from Kimura Takuya. A brilliant dark drama with many twists and turns along the way. The soundtrack used for this drama is EXCELLENT... more often than not the music sent chills down my spine as it accompanies the scene almost perfectly.. Kudos to the sound director of this movie. This is my first Nakayama Miho drama and I must say I like her quite a lot!! Great acting from her and Kimura to bring out the general dark mood of the show. Yusuke was great in this one as well. This one kept me hooked from start to end. This deserves a 10 for the uniqueness of the ending. Highly Recommended!!~ | News no onna [ニュースの女] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Interesting drama about a iron willed newscaster and her stepson whom shes forced to take in after her husband passes away. Although she never admits it, deep sown she cares for him deeply despite his usual high school teen attitude. Suzuki Honami and Takky did a great job here to bring out such an unusual realtionship. She was very elegant in the show, and radiates a certain charm about her. I din like the theme song though.. it was a bit meh...This drama kept my interest thorughout. Recommended!~ |
Ningen no Shoumei [人間の証明]
| Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) It's alright.... I didn't think it was particularly THAT absorbing, but the drama was definitely easy to watch becuase of the aloofness of the characters. Seishun Amigo is a fantastic song too. | Okusama wa Majo [奥さまは魔女] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) Brilliant!~ Absolutely hilarious drama that is cute, romantic, heart wrenching all in one... Yonekura Ryoko really shines as Arisa, the witch who finds a special place in her heart for humans and wants to live with them. Naturally, she falls in love and marries one, Joji and the drama focuses very much on their family lives from dealing with the mother-in-law from hell to preventing Arisa's true identity from being revealed. Especially loved the character of the neighbourhood wife who screamed "Annnata!!! Taiii hen da youuuu!!!" whenever she saw something wierd in Arisa's house. Cracked me up everytime!! This drama has a very nice theme song to boot!!!~ |
Omiai kekkon [お見合い結婚] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Good drama. Matsu Takako was very kirei in this.. Not much fire going on here between Santamaria and Takako, but I believe it was because their characters were not meant to be comfortable with each other in the first place... I wish Kotaru would be more decisive though... Sakura no ame, Itsuka is one of the BEST theme songs ever.. | Oni no sumika [鬼の棲家] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Hmmm ok drama... don't really like Kyoko Fukada so I kinda dragged myself though this... | Orange Days [オレンジデイズ] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) Absolutely brilliant. Finished this in 2 days, and I haven't been so addicted to a drama in a long time. I'm usually not a great Shibasaki Kou fan, but she was really good in the film as the extremely talented but unfortunately deaf Sae.
Highly Recommended!~~ |
Otousan [おとうさん] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Hmmm, enjoyable drama even though it is a little too slow moving for my liking. Storyline is similar to that of Oyaji, about a father taking care of his family, but this time without a wife. Naturally, the family gets into as many mishaps as possible along the way haha.. Shoulda got a 7 from me, but the star studded cast of Iijima Naoko, Nakatani Miki, Hirosue Ryoko and Kyoko Fukada was a joy to watch. Not as good as Oyaji IMO, but nice to watch nevertheless.. | Over Time [オーバー・タイム] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Hmmm.. Very slow start to the drama but it picks up pace storyline wise halfway through. Amazing, amazing soundtrack!! This drama probably has so many good songs I may actually consider buying its soundtrack lol... I felt that the ending was quite nice, and it fit the general theme of the drama quite well.
Very nice chemistry between Soichiro and Natsuki, which was the very big plus point to an otherwise slightly dull storyline. | Oyaji~ [オヤジぃ] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Good family drama.. Tamura Makazaru was great as the very stubborn dad who never admits when he's made a mistake... But deep inside, he really cares about his kids and would go to great lengths to protect them... Can't believe how many times the kids tried to leave home when they have an argument with their father... but always end up coming back..haha.. |
Pride [プライド] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Overall, a highly enjoyable love stroyline IMO. Kimura plays Satonaka Halu, an ice hockey captain who puts on a brave icy cold front in the face of any adversity. However all this changes when he gets to know office girl Aki (Takeuchi Yuko). She is waiting for her boyfriend to return and is lonely, and they make a pact to keep their relationship as a game. However Aki starts to break through the icy exterior of Halu and they both fall in love with each other. The side stories are also great, particularly with the love situation of Sakaguchi Kenji's character. Great acting, Great soundtrack from Queen (especially the theme song). Highly Recommended!!~~ | Proposal Daisakusen [プロポーズ大作戦] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) A romance drama with a twist. The story is briefly about a guy being given a second chance to change events in the past with regards to the girl he loves (who is about to marry somebody else). It's your usual romance drama, but the novel way of presenting an old genre makes it drama worth watching :D | Reisei to Jounetsu no Aida [冷静と情熱のあいだ] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) Nice and sweet love story about a painting restorer and his long lost girlfriend. I love the AMAZING Italian scenery and backdrops used in these movie, and the Enya-like music throughout the show makes it a good watch. |
Rikon Bengoshi [離婚弁護士]
| Rookie! Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Hmmm. Good drama about a rookie cop trying to prove himself worthy of being one. I wish Aida had a bit more confidence in himself though, causeit seemed as though everyone belived in him except himself. Uchiyama Rina had her Best Hairstyle Ever(TM) and was seriously cute in this drama!!! Highly Enjoyable!!!! | Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu [世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) The most touching and heart wrenching drama I have watched. Absolutely gripping storyline. A beautiful style of directing was used in the drama. Great casting as well as a top class OST rounds off what is definitely in my top 5 romance dramas of all time. Highly reccommended~ |
Shigatsu no monogatari [四月の物語] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) This is kind of like a monologue of a university student who moved from Hokkaido to Tokyo. No real storyline here....this is mainly for Matsu Takako fans, others would be hard pressed to like this... The piano theme song is brilliant though!!~ | Shiroi Kyoto [白い巨塔] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) This is a brilliant drama. Start off slow for the first two episodes but then the story really picked up for the third episode onwards all the way to the end. Kept me glued to my TV indeed. The drama really shows you the "other side" of the medical profession.. the backstabbing, the bribes, everything. | Slow Dance [スローダンス] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Hmmm. Ryoko's comeback drama ^_^. OK to be honest, if not for Ryoko I prolly wouldn't have bothered with this one. It starts of alright, but then I find that the pace of the drama gets too slow. After a while, I lost interest in the main love story. I felt it was a bit too generic. |
Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi [空から降る一億の星] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Wow this is brilliant!!! Great acting from Kimura, Sanma and Fukatsu.... The story is generally deep and depressing, but it's brilliant. The first few episodes are a drag I must say..but afterwards the plot just gets wonderfully superb. Good to see Kimura Takuya playing a jerk. Highly recommended!!! | Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni... [それは、突然、嵐のように…] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) Hmmm.. quite a slow drama but touching in places. Kozue's uncertainty about herself and her relationship with Takuma is portrayed really nicely. The theme song was quite soothing, anothing one of those easy listening type pieces which I like. Overall, an average drama. | Stand UP!! Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Haha... interesting teen drama with a bit of an adult theme. Funny in parts but drags on in others. The starting was a bit slow, but it picked up in the second half of the drama... especially with Chie and Shouhei trying to find out their true feelings for each other. Ninomiya and Suzuki Anne did good jobs with both characters.
A good watch. |
Strawberry on the shortcake [ストロベリー・オンザ・ショートケーキ] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) I never thought I'd like this a lot, but it's actually very very good. The story was excellent in my opinion, stretching the boundaries of stepbrother/sister relationships. Things start to get complicated when he falls in love her. I didn't really fancy Kyoko Fukada before, but I thought she put in a stellar performance i SOS. She was just so cute and alluring in this, maybe her character befits her face haha... The drama does get a bit draggy at the 8th and 9th episode, but the last episode featured more twists than a maze. The ABBA songs are a delight and made a wonderful soundtrack for the drama. I'm in love with the song Chiquitita all over again. Overall, great stuff!!~~ | Suekko chounan ane san nin [末っ子長男姉三人] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) Quite a funny drama in places. Especially with the big sister around with her half psycho character. Unfortunately none of the actreeses are really that appealing to the younger audience so it's a bit hard to watch seeing as the drama can be generally quite slow at times.. I like that folk song which the mother constantly plays on repeat...it kinda rubbed off on me as well haha.. | Summer snow Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Hirosue Ryoko honto kawaii. One of the most touching stories I've seen... The ending ruined my day though :( |
Suna No Utsuwa [砂の器]
| Sweet season [スゥイート・シーズン]
| Taiyou no uta [タイヨのうた] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Get to watch the lovely Sawajiri Erika in goddess-like hot mode :P. The storyline is nothing new though, we've all seen it before in Ichi Litorru no Namida, Itoshi Kimi e and others. Masterful soundtrack, based on the superb Taiyou no Uta sung by Erika herself. |
Tatta Hitotsu no Koi [たったひとつの恋] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) The first episode was so cheesy I'd thought it might actually ruin the whole drama for me, but from the 2nd episode onwards it actually becomes quite watchable. I quite like the Kamenashi and Ayase pairing, they make a very very adorable couple ^^. Almost all of the young romance cliches are in this drama, but I quite like the different direction the last 2 episodes took (or didn't take, for that matter..), despite the predictable ending. | Tokyo Love Story [東京ラブストーリー] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) This is THE classic romance drama, and also the source of inspiration for more modern romances such as Love Generation. This really plays through the spectrum of human emotions throughout the whole drama. Suzuki Honami is EXCELLENT in this drama, always keeping a high spirit. This drama made me a new fan of hers. But, It seems she can never be angry with Kanchi for more than a night..even though he's a total jerk to her at times.. | Toubousha [逃亡者]

Trick Season 3 [トリック3] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Very much slapstick comedy. If you don't really like that kind of comedy, it is quite hard to find it funny. However, the cases and tricks are really intriguing though. Nakama Yukie gives a great performance. | Ushinawareta Yakusoku [失われた約束] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) Hirosue Ryoko's latest drama. It's okay I suppose. I like the sensible ending, a bit of difference from Moto Kare. | Water Boys [ウォーターボーイズ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Haha.. funny show about boys doing synchronised swimming.. Not too bad story but I didn't really fancy any of the female leads so it was hard to keep interested..:P |
Water Boys Season 2 [ウォーターボーイズ2]
| Wedding Planner [ウエディングプランナー] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) One of the sweetest dramas I've watched so far. It was really enjoyable as it tugs at your heartstrings in a nice kind of way!! Haha.. The romance between the leads was nicely developed, and the side story romances were also very nicely done. Kimura Yoshino and Ijima Naoko were stunning in this :P Overall,a very very sweet natured drama, and I like it! | Whiteout Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Interesting action movie about terrorists taking over an important dam in Japan. This takes a little bit of style off James Bond films...with Oda Yuji being Bond himself lol... Matsushima Nanako was really beautiful with her short hair too... |
With love
Just got. Will watch soon. | Wonderful Life [ワンダフルライフ] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) Very very enjoyable drama!~ Sorimachi excels again as the unorthodox but kind at heart type of guy. He portrayed Kirishima's proud but insecure character really well. Hasegawa Kyoko was convincing as well, as the aspiring lawyer who hates guys like Kirishima, but begins to see kinder side and eventually falls for him. Recommended!~ | Yakusha Damashii [役者魂] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) A light hearted, easy to watch drama with a strong family theme, even though the characters aren't actually a real family. Matsu Takako acted great as usual, and her song Minna Hitori which is the theme song for this drama is great. |
Yamato Nadeshiko [やまとなでしこ【大和撫子】] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) I enjoyed this drama so much I nearly finished it in one night. If it wasn't for the fact that it was already 3.30am when I got to episode 10 and I had to wake up at 6am for work the next morning I would have finished this in one shot!! | | |
