14 sai no Haha [14歳の母] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) The biggest problem is that there are too many peoples that are supportive. The drama doesn't push the main character's ordeal far enough. | Atashinchi no Danshi [アタシんちの男子] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) | Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) When it comes to romance drama, I have to have happy ending. Still interesting enough to warrant an above average rating. |
Bloody Monday [ブラッディ・マンデイ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Boku dake no Madonna [僕だけのマドンナ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | CHANGE Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) I think this drama needed more. I can't quite say. It got Eri and Takuya AND Abe Hiroshi. But the drama itself has a few flaws that even those actors and actress can't remedy. |
Change! [チェンジ!] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) | Engine [エンジン] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) I like children ^_^ | Galileo [ガリレオ] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Gokusen [ごくせん] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Above average. Funny. But too many boys. Why can't the class is mixed as in Seito Shokun? I watched LIFE and I think there are problematic girls too that can make the drama more interesting than this male-idol-fest. And seriously, if there's a worst costume award, Yankumi's will win it. No contest. | Golden Bowl [ゴールデンボウル] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Gonzo - Densetsu no Keiji [ゴンゾウ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) |
Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) | GTO [麻辣教師] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Hachimitsu to Kuroba [ハチミツとクローバー] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) I have to say, this is much better than the draggy long-winded over-extended Taiwanese version. The female lead is not annoying as in the Taiwanese version. | Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [花ざかりの君たちへ] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) This is a silly drama. In a good way. Surprisingly, I don't care much about Oguri, whether Ashiya succeed in making him jump again or not. What interests me is the boarding school life (had spent 9 years in hostels myself, it brought back good memories). Ah... those were the days... | Hero Rating: 5/10 (Watched) Average. Not very fond of episodic type drama. I watched it since it was aired in my country. |
Hitotsu yane no shita 1 [ひとつ屋根の下 1] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Ironic. Time and again, it's the Elder Brother who have the potential to tear the family apart. His communication skill is horrible. To keep it short, Engine fared better. | Hotaru no Hikari [ホタルノヒカリ] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Pretty good. Though once in a while Ayase Haruka just couldn't perfect it (the times when I felt Nodame would play the character better), overall, I think Ayase Haruka fits the character better than Ueno Juri. | Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Ikebukuro West Gate Park [池袋ウエストゲートパーク] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) I was expecting something like Young And Dangerous. Silly me. But it turned out to be different. It has mature content (not much) and yet, it's a light drama.
For 3/4 of the drama, I did not see any particular direction with it. But near the end it starts to be a bit interesting. Some early parts can be shortened or omitted to make space for something more meaningful. Overall, a decent drama. I'm bias towards it because I like wierd girl (in IWGP, it's Hikari).
Mostly disappointed that Hikari's 2nd personality is only shown near the end of the drama. I guess they did that to keep the mystery going though I think that the drama still fail to deliver the mystery feel by doing that. | Jotei [女帝] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Far less captivating and intense than Stranger in the Mirror (Sidney Sheldon). I guess my expectation was too high. | Karei naru Ichizoku [華麗なる一族] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Karei naru Spy [華麗なるスパイ] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) | Kurosagi [クロサギ] Rating: 5/10 (Bought & Watched) Disappointing. I have little grasp on business and economy. That's probably why I couldn't appreciate the cheating and all? The cheats and counter-cheats are not as interesting as Liar Game. It couldn't lure me into guessing (Liar Game are all about logic and it was fun guessing what move peoples are going to make). Not very good at creating tension, suspense and twist as Liar Game. The explanation on how the cheating works is very poor too.
While Erika is perfect as Nao (honest to a fault and easily symphatized with), Yamashita somewhat failed as a swindler. Matsuda Shota looks good as a swindler but Homaki's character is nothing special compared to the ones in NwP, HanaKimi and Seito Shokun. The ending is kinda eh. Probably they want to set a sequel up? Then again, Kurosagi could still defeat Mikimoto for a more satisfying closure and keep Katsuragi active for a sequel set-up. | Last Christmas [ラストクリスマス] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Liar Game [ライアーゲーム] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) The character Nao really influenced me. I rooted for her, got mad at her, sympathized with her, worried about her... The male lead is far better than Yamashita at being a swindler. And the games are all very interesting. The cinematography, the mood, the music are all great. I just wish that there are more adept swindler in the game. | LIAR GAME Season 2 [ライアーゲーム 2] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) | LIFE [ライフ] Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched) I like screwed characters. And the actresses and actor are pretty good at playing "screwed character". Fukuda Saki, Hosoda Yoshihiko and Suenaga Haruka is great playing their characters. Hoshii Nanase is even better because she succeeded in playing different.. "moods". Kitano Kii is good. Some of the supporting actors/actresses are not bad either.
I'm tired of teacher-always-win theme. LIFE gives a refreshing experience. Finally, the students fight their own battle, the homeroom teacher is uncaring and the one who cares, is powerless to help. And not to forget, it's not a male teen-idol fest.
Of all the dorama that I watched so far, this is the only one that I wished for a sequel. It brought back memories of the 9 years I spent in Hostels. |
Long vacation [ロングバケーション] Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched) This is my fav romance drama. If you have a romance drama to recommend, compare it to this for a better guess at my taste. | Love generation [ラブジェネレーション] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Above average. Nice chemistry and conflict. | Mop Girl [モップガール] Rating: 8/10 |
Mukodono! [ムコ殿/女婿大人] Rating: 5/10 (Bought & Watched) I just hate pathetic male lead. And no, don't ever recommend Densha Otoko to me. The comedy is the saving grace but not enough to make me rate it past "above average". | My Boss, My Hero [マイボスマイヒロ] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) | Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) What can I say. I like wierd girls. The main problem is the ending. Maybe the creator is thinking of making another "wo produce" in the new school but I prefer it to end at the second last episode. |
Nodame Cantabile [のだめ カンタビ−レ] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Hilarious. This is the jdorama that made me laugh the most. And did I mentioned I like wierd female character? | Odoru Daisousasen [踊る大捜査線] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) | Oh! My Girl!! [オー!マイ・ガール!!] Rating: 7/10 |
Okusama wa Majo [奥さまは魔女] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) A fun light-hearted drama to watch | Orange Days [オレンジデイズ] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) | Papa to Musume no Nanokakan [パパとムスメの7日間] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Pride [プライド] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Feels like watching a mutilated version of Mighty Ducks haha. Still, an above average drama due to the execution plus good male and female leads. | ROOKIES [ルーキーズ] Rating: 5/10 I hate the teacher. | Ryusei no Kizuna [流星の絆] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) If I am to compare this to Kurosagi, Ryusei no Kizuna... 'has heart'. Funny moments, touching moments, closure, actors/actress, everything; is much better. Love the insert song too. |
Sapuri [サプリ] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) | Seigi no Mikata [正義の味方] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Seito Shokun! [生徒諸君!] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Surprisingly, I like this one more than Gokusen. Weak teacher and yet she's still determined. She failed to work things out and she still not giving up. Though there are a couple things that I dislike. First is when seeing the class unity falls apart. I really don't like a teacher winning that way. Secondly, Uchiyama herself. Her dress is much much better than Yankumi. I give her that. But where Yankumi looks natural, she exaggerates. Throughout the drama, I had thought that it might be better if Koyuki is the main character. (Judging from her role in Engine) I'd have sympathized with the teacher more. |
Smile [スマイル] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) | Taiyou no uta [タイヨのうた] Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched) Sawajiri's singing is horrible! Gimme YUI!! The movie version is absolutely better. | Tatta Hitotsu no Koi [たったひとつの恋] Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched) |
Unfair [アンフェア] (Bought) | | |
