Aji ichimonme 1 [味いちもんめ 1] enjoyable... [Rating: 8/10] an old drama, but nonetheless enjoyable. nakai plays omawayashi Ihashi Satoru in this comedy. if he really did cut his own daikon ... i'm very impressed. that's all i got to say about this drama. i also enjoyed the theme song .. La La La by Ohguro Maki. | Koi ga shitai Koi ga shitai Koi ga shitai [恋がしたい恋がしたい] outstanding... [Rating: 10/10] i felt that this has been one of the better dramas for this millenium. not too many dramas have been able to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and that's what this drama did for me. it was exciting to watch each cast member find their direction in life every week.
i also like how the script-writers were able to tie in the theme song to the show with having each cast members show name a color ... AOshima Wataru (blue), AKAI Ryosuke (red), Hada AI (blue), Nagashima MIKAN (orange), and MIDORIkawa Bunpei (green). even though the names match the theme song, i still really liked the theme song.
what i really enjoyed about this drama is the "insightful" quotes that they would say at the beginning and end of the show. some of them were really deep and can be applied to real life. that's what i really enjoyed about this show. |
Koishite Shinitai [恋して死にたい] AI WA PAWAA DAYO~! [Rating: 10/10] before i start my review, i'd just like to say, this drama deserves 20 stars. hahahahaha. c'mon, with one of the most memorable lines in history of j-dramas (imho) ... AI WA PAWAA DAYO~! indeed, love is power. how can you refute that when it's coming from Fukada Kyoko? you can't.
i thoroughly enjoyed this drama although i knew they'd end up together watching the previews before the series even aired. the one thing that pained me was watching Fukada heart-broken for 10 episodes. i couldn't handle that, but it shows ... in the end (in the television world at least), unrequited love never loses. we all hope in real life things would work out like it did in the show, but we know it doesn't ... that's what makes this drama so great ... we can watch it on tv.
another great drama theme. every time i hear Life now ... i picture Toko riding her bike saying "ne ne ne" hahahahaha. i love this drama. | Kyousoukyoku [協奏曲] fantastic... [Rating: 10/10] Ebisawa Kosuke, rather, Tamura Masakazu ... he's classic. this was the one show that will always remind me of the Masakazu stutter. that's a classic stutter that only he can do. Masakazu suits every role he plays in and this show is no exception. |
Oyaji~ [オヤジぃ] subarashii... [Rating: 10/10] Tamura Masakazu playing a role that only he can play ... actually, i could see Takeda Tetsuya playing this role too, but Tamura was classic in this one. as said in earlier reviews, it's a real family involving real-life situations. thoroughly enjoyable.
another great drama with an appropriate theme song. as you watch this series, you see each child try to move on his/her own way by moving out of the house ... ergo, sayonara, daisuki na hito (talking about the father).
i could watch this one over and over again. it's that good people. | Utsukushii hito [美しい人] sore ga ... utsukushii [Rating: 7/10] another drama with a memorable line ... in the final episode when Tamura say ... "sore ga ... utsukushii" deep ... that's deep.
uchiyama rina also stars ... that's always a winner. this wasn't one of tokiwa's better roles though.
osawa takao ... doesn't fly as a villian. not after seeing him play shuichi in the hoshi no kinka saga. just doesn't seem right.
amazingly, i didn't like this theme song. that's probably what made my rating drop so much ... tokiwa and osawa takao's bad acting and the not so great drama theme. masakazu and uchiyama held this rating up greatly ... added in with that memorable quote. |
Yamato Nadeshiko [やまとなでしこ【大和撫子】] beautiful... [Rating: 10/10] i simply loved this drama. this will be my attempt to explain why Ousuke went what he went through for Sakurako ...
as told earlier in the series, Sakurako looks exactly like the girl that Ousuke was dating back at MIT. she left him because he focused on his studies too much. left in despair and with his father's passing, he returns to japan to run his father's fish shop.
one night at a gokon with his friends, on his way out, he spots Sakurako who he thought was the girl that dumped him back in Boston. that was enough for him to stay. the fact he had the horse racing owner's pin was purely coincidental (i admit a little too good to be true, but still ...). although she's totally out for his money ... he believes that the heart is the most important thing when looking for another 'soulmate.' eventually, his mild-manner, innocent, and sometimes naive self somehow rubs off on Sakurako who realizes that there are other things more important than money when it comes to looking for love. it's during that process that everyone falls in love with this drama.
matsushima plays that spoiled girl role excellentlly. just as tsusumu plays his naive role wonderfully. tied in with the great theme song ... Everything by Misia ... it became a fan-favorite by many viewers.
i love that song Everything. great song for a great drama. | | |
