14 sai no Haha [14歳の母] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) This drama gives a somewhat "realistic" portrayal of the circumstances. Although some parts are a bit too slowly paced and there are too many "hand on tummy" shots. Camera work and soundtrack were beautiful. | Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) One of the few dramas which I can say changed my life. | Bijo ka Yajuu [美女か野獣] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) As a Nanako fan, I really like her mature looks in this drama. Her acting is excellent as always, and the chemistry with the male lead is commendable. Average news show plot line. |
Brand [ブランド] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Mildly entertaining, not outstanding in anyway. I like the tea house angle. At least it's not silly. | Bus stop [バスストップ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Wow.. I wonder how many girls will fall for the line "I want to drive a bus for you forever". Held my attention till the end, however. Mr Children's theme song is excellent. | Dekichatta Kekkon [できちゃった結婚] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Funny! But how come Ryoko's tummy never gets big when she's pregnant? |
Densha Otoko [電車男] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) i liked the otaku and akihabara bit. funny but exaggerated at times; made me cringe. towards the end it was draggy. i hope the movie's better! | Engine [エンジン] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) a light drama that's easy to watch because it dosen't delve too deeply into its orphanage and racing angles; a pro and con. i don't really feel the chemistry between kimutaku and koyuki though. | Food fight [フードファイト] Rating: 4/10 (Watched) Unbearably boring because every episode is the same. |
Friends [フレンズ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Interesting angle, but average plot. I like the location changes of in the cities of Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong. | Golden Bowl [ゴールデンボウル] Rating: 4/10 (Watched) Golden Bowl = Food Fight? Sheesh! | Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) I was totally into the pilot angle, LOL. KimuTaku is almost faultless and Kou Shibasaki scores a breakthrough. The theme song makes me want to be a pilot. |
GTO [麻辣教師] Rating: 8/10 One of the few funny dramas that kept me laughing to the end. | Hero Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Mildly funny. Chemistry between KimuTaku and Matsu Takako is still unbeatable. | Home & Away [ホーム&アウェイ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Relatively funny drama. It was kind of like an all japan tour or some travel show! |
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) A sekachuu story; albeit well done too. Female lead was outstanding. | Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [神様、もう少しだけ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Some loopholes in the HIV angle, but mildly interesting. Theme song by LUNA SEA is awesome. | Karei naru Ichizoku [華麗なる一族] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) a refreshing and different drama from kimutaku, and great acting as usual. i felt the story to be intense, powerful and moving. |
Kekkon Dekinai Otoko [結婚できない男] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Great for leisure watching and mild chuckles. The casting of mature leads is refreshing, too. | Kimi wa Petto [きみはペット] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I really like Koyuki, she really is "all woman" in this show. In fact, she might be giving Matsushima Nanako a run for her money. Except for a really unlikeable character, and a few weak plot holes, this is good light hearted fun. | Koishite Shinitai [恋して死にたい] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) Only mildy entertaining. I like the Kinki Kids song though. |
Koori no sekai [冰の世界] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Totally AWESOME plotline that keeps you guessing right to the very end! Nanako's acting is flawless. | Long vacation [ロングバケーション] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Creates a memory that stays with you forever. Beautiful music. | Love generation [ラブジェネレーション] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Generic love story. Unforgettable OST. |
Love letter Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Stunning visuals and cinematography. The love story has an interesting angle to it as well. | Love Revolution [ラブレボリューション] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Really attractive people acting in it, but plot line was so insignificant I thought it was boring. | Majo no jouken [魔女の条件] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) So unbearably sad it gets really draggy. |
Messengers [メッセンジャー] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) "OK" entertainment. Introduced me to the concept of "bike messengers", LOL. | Mukodono! [ムコ殿/女婿大人] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) A really funny drama and all the acting is outstanding! Has a nice theme song that I really like but it might get a bit repetitive during the show. | Nemureru mori [眠れる森] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I watched Ice World before this, and i think it was better plot wise. I pretty much could see the ending coming. I like the theme song a lot. |
News no onna [ニュースの女] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Has a cool lead, but I felt there was really nothing outstanding about the plot, hence I have forgotten most of it. | Nisennen no koi [二千年の恋] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) So-so plot that rided on the Year 2000 novelty. Beautiful music by S.E.N.S. | Orange Days [オレンジデイズ] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Being a college student like the lead characters, this drama dealt on issues that I could totally identify with. Warm, pleasant, funny, sometimes sad, touching and a happy ending and a great theme song makes Orange Days a life changer for me. |
Over Time [オーバー・タイム] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) A trendy drama similar to Long Vacation. Singlehandedly made Tokyo Tower a tourist spot for the fans. | Pride [プライド] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Makes the word "MAYBE" sound so cool. So-so plot only, and I don't get the Ice Goddess angle. | Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu [世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) An excellent production, although a bit draggy at times. Casting was excellent. Would have rated higher if I didn't watch the movie first. |
Slow Dance [スローダンス] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) This drama belongs to the "it could happen to you" genre, where the charms lies in seemingly real characters doing everyday things; vs. the exaggerated and unrealistic plots of other dramas. Thus, while it might not be as touching and satisfying as other dramas, I enjoyed watched nevertheless. Great soundtrack. | Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi [空から降る一億の星] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Rather draggy, and not quite as good as Nemureru no Mori and Koori no Sekai in the same genre; even KimuTaku can't make this ok drama into an outstanding one. | Summer snow Rating: 7/10 (Watched) So-so plot. The guy didn't have to die; but I guess they needed something to give the end an impact. |
Taiyou no uta [タイヨのうた] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Despite the likable leads, I prefer the movie version. A simple storyline had to be modified and artificially extended to accommodate a drama. That said, although Erika's songs cannot be compared to YUI's, the soundtrack was above average. | Taiyou wa shizumanai Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Engaging plot with twists (and touching at the same time) that keeps you watching to the last episode. Leaves you very satisfied at the end because there are no loose ends. | Tatta Hitotsu no Koi [たったひとつの恋] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) An incredibly disappointing effort from Kitagawa Eriko - everything in this drama just screamed mediocre. I admit I just watched on because of Haruka Ayase... |
Virgin Road [バージンロード] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Touching plot. Namie Amuro's wedding song really sticks to your head. | Yamato Nadeshiko [やまとなでしこ【大和撫子】] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Nanako at her acting best. Incredibly beautiful in this drama. Theme song by MISIA is perfect. | Yan Papa [やんパパ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Average. Everybody knows what's going to happen in the end anyway... Weird use of anime mixed into the story too. |
