Boku to Kanojo to Kanojo no Ikiru Michi [僕と彼女と彼女の生きる道] Absolutely recommendable for those who want to watch a serious drama about family life, choices between work and family. It is amazing how you can watch a TV drama without understanding 90% of the dialogue and still cry because it relates to everyday life. I'm on episode 6, and I'm hoping for a big-time love explosion between Tetsuro (Tsuyoshi) and Yura (Koyuki). I'm just so in love with Koyuki's character.
Ushinawareta Yakusoku [失われた約束] Excellent one-episode emotional drama, well-written, well-directed and well-acted. Hitomi is a good dramatic actress and Etsuhsi was really a convincingly confused person with good judgement. Ryoko was her usual self as a rising starlet. I am really impressed with Japanese TV drama production.
Yoomigaeri [黄泉がえり] Obviously recommended for Tsuyoshi and Yuko fans, but more impotantly, for science fiction lovers! My first J-dorama science ficition movie, and it worked. Good direction and filming.

Fukatsu Eri [深津絵里] I'm surprised why there are not that many votes for Eri. I'm currently watching her in Suekko Chounan, which I recommend by the way, and boy, what an energetic actress. She may not be as cute as Fukada Kyoko and Hasegawa Kyoko, but she is so entertaining and I enjoy her character in Suekko Chounan. Thank you for speaking up Orenji-san.
Hasegawa Kyoko [長谷川京子] She has that beautiful face that you can easily fall in love with, and she can be convincingly real on the screen unlike the other popular "just cute" Japanese actresses. However, I still have to see her versatility in some other challenging roles. If she continues to develop acting-wise, she will become a movie star, and then, good-bye, Japanese drama!

Algernon ni Hanataba o [アルジャーノンに花束を] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Enjoyed this drama! Santamaria is a good dramatic actor. This plot is the same as "Charley" starring Cliff Robertson in the 70s. What happened to Tomoko's acting career? She was a good child actress in Kita no Kuni!
Bijo ka Yajuu [美女か野獣] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Very convincing roles for Nanako and Masaharu. Would like to see them in different characters and find out their versatility. Appreciated insight into TV news production drama.
Boku dake no Madonna [僕だけのマドンナ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Kyoko should be one of the rising stars with her beauty and good acting. Plot is a little bit unusual, but then, Japanese soaps are different.
Dr. Koto Shinryojo [Dr.コトー診療所] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I love watching foreign films especially when the story line is in the rural areas. I thought Hidetaka is too young to be a doctor, and I did not know he was a child actor (Kita no Kuni). And why does Kou like roles like this, grumpy and strange? How about a comedy for her?
Egao no Hosoku [笑顔の法則] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) I'm a Yuko fan since Lunch Queen. It's always a curiousity when you don't dwell love stories all the time. I kept on waiting though if a spark will occur between Yuko and her boss Hiroshi. Maybe the writers were too worried that he is too old for her.
First Love Rating: 5/10 (Watched) My first Japanese soap. Enjoyed a different culture obviously, and Kyoko cute! But I heard a lot of negative comments about her acting from Japanese fans. The suicide attempts were sort of bothersome,
Good Luck !! [グッドラック！！] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) Just curious how good is Takuya. Ended up being more curious on Kou and later on Rina. Plot is a little bit unusual.
Home & Away [ホーム＆アウェイ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Excellent short stories! Very unlikely, but well acted of course. I would love to watch Miho again!
Itsumo futari de [いつもふたりで] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) First time to see Kenji and Takako. Good actors. Glad to discover Kyoko, and watched her in Madonna. Nice to see co-ed living in Tokyo. Takako as a writer was not well-established.
Kougen e Irasshai [高原へいらっしゃい！] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) It is nice to discover new good actors like Koichi. I sure would like to see him again. Normally I watch Japanese soaps because of Yuko Takeuchi and Kyoko Hasegawa. Japanese writers don't seem to run out of stories.
Lunch no Joou [ランチの女王] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Enjoyed the plot and characters very much! Fell in love with Yuko, and wanted Yosuke to be my older brother! Liked the behind the scenes shots!
Moto Kare [元カレ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Is Tsuyoshi really a stud for 2 nice girls to fall for? He is a serious actor, but I'm not sure the casting is correct. However, I always welcome new plots and scenarious such as the department store.
My Little Chef Rating: 4/10 (Watched) A little bit boring, and are there really restaurants like that in Japan? First time to see a tall Japanese actor!
Okaasan to isshou [お義母さんといっしょ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) This is another insight into the lives of ordinary people in Tokyo, and it is always entertaining to watch and learn even though none of the actors are superstars.
Otousan [おとうさん] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I love watching soaps on Japanese living. This is one of them. I'm impressed with how patient the directors are when they shoot different facial reactions.
Remote [リモート] Rating: 4/10 (Watched) I guess the good ratings are all Kyoko's fans. I like her too, but isn't this a silly soap? I'm beginning to believe the non-fans that she can only act one way.
Renai Hensachi [恋愛偏差値] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Enjoyed the short stories, a good idea that you don't see with American soaps. Miki is a good actress!
Satorare [サトラレ] Rating: 4/10 (Watched) Can't believe the ratings! I thought the plot was silly, but the thing is, I'm forcing myself to watch because I want to learn how to speak Japanese.
Tokyo Love Cinema [東京ラブ・シネマ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) I like to watch Yusuke since I saw him in Lunch Queen. Story is good and I'm beginning to see more and more of the same actors and actresses.
Ushinawareta Yakusoku [失われた約束] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) This is a one-episode emotional drama that you would like if you don't have the patience to watch drama series. Well-written and well-directed and well-acted by Kuroki Hitomi (wife/doctor), a good dramatic actress, Toyokawa Etsushi (husband who had amnesia from the Kobe earthquake) and Hirosue Ryoko (Etsushi's young wife after the quake), one of the rising young starlets.
Yoisho no Otoko [ヨイショの男] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Liked the office scenery. Goro was very funny. Informative to watch Japanese customs. Still new on Japanese dramas.
Yoomigaeri [黄泉がえり] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Without Yuko in it, I probably would not have watched it, but then, after I watched it, you feel lucky you did because of the excellent direction and story. This is not only good for Tsuyoshi and Yuko fans, but also for science fiction buffs. Highly recommended.

Ushinawareta Yakusoku [失われた約束] Excellent One-Episode Drama [Rating: 7/10] If you don't have the time to follow those 10+ episode TV series, this is one emotional one-episode TV movie that you will enjoy. It is well-directed and well-acted, plus this is one story where you can relate to dilemnas in life when you have to sacrifice your love to achieve fairness, and hopefully happiness.
Hitomi is the wife (doctor) who thought she lost her husband in the famous Kobe earthquake. I have seen her in Good Luck!, but I did not realize she can be one terrific dramatic actress. Etsushi, the husband (businessman), portrayed convincingly a man who suffered from amnesia, but decided what is fair at the end. I never saw him before, but is he popular? Ryoko, who saved Etsushi from the quake and married him after, is her usual self, cute and squeaky. I have seen her in Otoosan and Moto Kare.
Lastly, I am really impressed with Japanese TV movie production and direction, the way they spend money just to shoot different angles of the performer's expressions or to emphasize the scene's message.
Yoomigaeri [黄泉がえり] Strange Feeling From Yoomigaeri [Rating: 7/10] Yoomigaeri is a unique science fiction that gives you a strange feeling of loneliness and emptiness about death. It is about a town where certain people who died recently came back to life due to some extra-terrestial accident that hit the area. This single episode movie succeeded because of the direction of the tempo, the music and the filming of it. Acting was not demandingly important, although I watched it because of Yuko Takeuchi.
