The Beauty of "Beautiful Life" [Rating: 9/10]
This is the kind of show where you want to re-watch it over and over again ! I'm sure many people feel the same way as me :), I know of people who have watched it 3 times..and still counting.
I believe it is due to the very romantic storyline and also the convincing and heartfelt portrayal of the characters ( Kudos to kimutaku and takako tokiwa !) There are so many moments in this drama that are so incredibly touching !
Be forewarned...for the last episode,prepare a large box of tissues if you're the kind who cries easily...;)

Funny and touching at the same time [Rating: 9/10]
This drama is mainly a comedy but there are some very touching parts as well. Sorimachi is superb as the unconventional teacher with his own style of solving problems. The way he gradually gains the trust of the students is comical..yet touching as well. I believe after watching this show, all of us would wish we had/once had a teacher like GTO ! : )

All-round entertainment ! [Rating: 8/10]
This drama has all the elements of comedy, romance, suspense..etc in the right combination, proving to be a highly-entertaining and enjoyable watch ! Die-hard Kimutaku/Matsu Takako fans may wish the ending were more romantic but I believe the producers wanted to leave it to the viewers' imagination. ;) I highly recommend this drama !! | Itazura na Kiss [イタズラなKiss]
A riot ! [Rating: 7/10]
This drama is an all-out comedy !It provides loads of riotous fun and even more laughter. Kotoko is truly hilarious as the lovesick schoolgirl whereas Naoki is oh-so-cool as the smart but icy top student.
It's great for the laughs but story development is rather poor as one just cannot see how Naoki can finally fall for Kotoko in the end coz there's not a single shred of emotion shown.
Barring that, this show is still great coz it'll definitely lift your spirits ! |

The storyline is good and the actors all put in very convincing performances but what really stands out about this show is the music. The significance of each scene was portrayed very clearly through the music that was used. Pretty good [Rating: 7/10]
After watching Esumi Makiko in 'OverTime', i was hooked...i think she's just so beautiful and can be both serious and funny too. This dorama is quite a good one though i thought the ending was a little too good to be true. It's got loads of eye candy..just check out Makiko and her good friend...their hair, their clothes..whoa !
I love the theme song by Ken Hirai..and i also like the black and white shots of them in formal clothes sitting on the chairs--very classy looking. |
Nemureru mori [眠れる森]
Full of suspense [Rating: 8/10]
I really liked this show for the excellent storyline as well as the way the story slowly unfolds to reveal who the murderer really is. As usual, it's always a shocker when you find out who the killer is but the suspense leading up to the climax is simply thrilling! All the little pieces come together like a jigsaw puzzle and along the way, the viewers will make their own deductions as well.
The romance bits are quite limited and is largely unfulfilled toward the end,but this show is a great drama for the gripping plot and the characters as well.
Music is okay but quite limited as only 2 songs are played throughout the entire show. | Over Time [オーバー・タイム]
A very realistic show [Rating: 7/10]
This was one of the first jap dramas that I watched and I actually watched this before "Long Vacation" Although many people feel that "Overtime" is ,in some ways, a rip-off of "Long Vacation", personally, I feel that Overtime has its own strong points. The storyline flows smoothly and the feelings of Natsuki and Soichiro are both portrayed very well too. The lifestyles of the young pple in the show are also portrayed quite well. Though some may not like the ending, i feel that it's a great ending because it's the most realistic one, and not like a fairy-tale.

Risou no kekkon [理想の結婚]
Insightful drama [Rating: 8/10]
This romantic comedy raises some realistic and practical issues which couples encounter when they are planning for a wedding. The beginning of the story is really ludicrous because Mari and Otaki fall in love at first sight and almost immediately decide to get married. However, if you can look beyond the unconvincing beginning, the rest of this drama is actually pretty enjoyable and insightful as well. Yutaka shows great comic skill and looks really different from his usual 'cool guy' roles.Takako,on the other hand, is as adorable as ever.
Music is not that memorable but overall, this drama deservesa thumbs-up ! | |
