Attention Please [アテンションン プリース] Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched) Youko's personality is great fun and it certainly makes everything more interesting and the actress who plays her fits so well! It's also a plus that Nishikido Ryo's in it. ^_^ It's a generally good drama, but if you're looking for a whole lot of romance, you'll be disappointed for there's only a HINT of it and it appears at the end. Even so, I thought it was nice and worth giving a go. | Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) I liked it enough though some parts were somewhat too slow-moving for my tastes. It was rather touching at some points and light-hearted at others. Slightly mushy at one points, with the mandatory obstacles a couple encounters in typical dramas. All in all, I mostly watched this because of the good reviews I kept on reading and the plot appealed to me. Honestly, try it out and watch it! After all, I may be one of the atypical ones and you might just love it! All in all, it has a good plot and was pretty entertaining and it kept me hooked till the end. It's worth a try and is pretty good. My only complaint are the dialogue-only scenes. I'm not the most emotionally adept person out there. | First Kiss [ファースト・キス] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I must admit that Inoue's character was incredibly annoying and infuriating to me in the beginning, but the more I watched, the more I understood why that was. It had a slow build up so the romance in it was believable, and it was sweet. The ending left you hanging in a sense, but it was good. :) I myself am not a sucker for romance dramas, but this one was pretty good and I recommend it! |
Gokusen [ごくせん] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) This reminded me of GTO and there were many similarities - though they were done differently. Even so, it was pretty good and it had me waiting impatiently for school to be over with until I could get back and watch some more. :) Yamaguchi sensei was pretty dorky at some times and totally cool at others. It was an odd mix, being so dorky when coming from a yakuza family, but I suppose. Along with the cast (all of whom were great), it was colorful! I liked Oguri Shun's character, and I was a bit disappointed that though Matsuyama Kenichi had a part, it was REALLY small. Matsumoto Jun's character wasn't bad at all, either. :) All in all, it was good entertainment and pretty touching. I find that I wish I would have watched it when I graduated from high school. ^_^ | Gokusen Season 2 [ごくせん2] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) This was basically another sequel with an idol-studded cast. :) There were things that followed from the prequel such as the pattern that seems to take place in every episode. The parts where Yankumi's old student came in were nice and I particularly liked the ending. It was original in its own way, though, and I still found myself captivated by it and rushing home from school just to continue watching it. :) Not to mention the fact that Kamenashi and Akanishi are both in it. | Gokusen Season 3 [ごくせん 3] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Yes, I actually watched the first two and I decided to continue it. :) It's basically a repeat of the previous "seasons" but with a different cast. It actually made me feel old to look up the new "students" and realise that I was older than some of them. Anyway, the same morals are being impounded and the teacher always comes to the rescue - even though it's basically a repeat, I still kept with it. It wasn't bad, just a bit old. If I hadn't watched the other two and this was my first foray into 'Gokusen,' then the rating would be higher. :) |
GTO [麻辣教師] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) This was a pretty inspirational drama about a teacher teaching with incredibly unconventional methods - though they do get the job done. It's very good and well worth the watch! Even so, the beginning (for me, anyway) sort of dragged a bit and a couple of characters annoyed me, I loved the ending! | Hana Yori Dango [花より男子] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) The cast is great and there was a whole lot of cute guys in there. :) The lead up to the actual romance scene was fairly believable but, of course, with every drama, there are those moments that just makes the goal harder to get to. And, like every time before that, I get really frustrated. Either way, it was very cute and rather humorous. :) | Hana Yori Dango Season 2 [花より男子] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) I found myself rushing to continue the Hana Yori Dango series and I was nicely surprised. :) The cast was even better with nice guest appearances and I'm happy to say that **MINI-SPOILER** all their hard work paid off. The interactions between the characters were very nice and the acting was good as well - though some things just made me wince. Then again, it's who the roles were, so who am I to complain? It's a really sweet romance and I can't wait for the movie to come out later this month! I HAVE TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. |
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [花ざかりの君たちへ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) It was hilarious and I watched it at least two times so far. :) There were some parts where things just seemed over exaggerated or ridiculously obvious - but that's what you get for watching a comedy! Overall, though, it's a great look at Hana Kimi (I have watched the Taiwanese version multiple times as well) and a fresh twist. Right after I finished the series, I watched it again. :) I highly recommend it! | Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) I'm not an emotional person but this drama definitely squeezed a good amount of tears from me. Erika Sawajiri played her character to a tee and if I didn't know better, she could have been diagnosed with it herself. Nishikido Ryo's character was absolutely perfect as it was a gradual development and was believable. Though the ending was very sad, you could also say it was a happy one and I commend it and recommend it, along with a box of tissue on the side. Ichi Ritoru no Namida is an incredibly touching drama that captures everything that came with the plot realistically and I'm glad. This is got to be one of my most memorable dramas to date. | Koizora [恋空] Rating: 8/10 (Bought) This is one of those heart-rending tales on one's first love. It's rather on par with 1 Litre of Tears, but the roles are switched. It's sad and the characters are pretty well-done. All in all, it was enjoyable and I constantly felt the need to finish it, even though I knew what was going to happen. There's also a movie version, but I haven't seen it quite yet - but then again, the drama goes slower so you get more involved with the plot than just an hour and a half movie. It is rather cute though so if you're in the mood for a tale of romance and heartache, this is for you! The kicker is that it's based on a true story! |
Kurosagi [クロサギ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) I loved this drama! It had a great plot and was pretty realistic - not to mention it included Yamapi and Maki Horikita in the cast. The actors did the roles justice and Yamapi as a swindler showed his own skills at acting. :) | My Boss, My Hero [マイボスマイヒロ] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) I just finished watching this two days ago and it was great! The leading character played by Nagase Tomoya was great (though slightly unrealistic) and he had the most hilarious facial expressions throughout the series. The supporting male character played by Tegoshi Yuya was absolutely adorable. The slight romantic aspect of the drama didn't make me feel nauseous so I applaud that and I admit a big bonus was how it involved a fictional crime organisation - and I know how much I love those. It's pretty action packed and with lots of humor so it's rather well-balanced. I love the series and though I watched it from a boxed set that my sister's friend let us borrow, I wish I could have my own so I could watch it at will. :) | Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) This was a very different look at Maki Horikita (I honestly didn't know she played the character until I looked it up) and her acting at the character was pretty good! Of course, she is one of my favorite Japanese actresses. Yamapi's character was also very adorable and so was Kamenashi's portrayal of his role as one of the popular students at school. It had a good plot, but honestly, it didn't keep my attention as much as some of the other dramas I've watched. I still recommend it as I know many people were much more hooked on it than I - so just give it a shot! It also has an original ending, and that has got to count for something. :) |
Ryusei no Kizuna [流星の絆] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Even with the slightly dark background of the three siblings, Ryusei no Kizuna is successful at mixing in some pretty humorous scenes. I liked it a lot and the acting was pretty good. It was cute and when it needed to be, serious. | Taiyou no uta [タイヨのうた] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I enjoyed it and Erika Sawajiri seems to have found a niche in her choice of characters. She played a very believable character and the plot wasn't that over done as well. As soon as I finished one episode, I quickly flipped to the next one and the next one. Though I found the ending to be slightly disappointing, I find myself going back and re-watching the drama again just for kicks. | Yasha [夜叉] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) I absolutely loved this drama! Ito Hideaki's acting contrasted the two roles magnificently. The plot was fresh - at least from most other dramas - and it's a fresh breath of fresh air from the romance dramas I've been watching. As for the ending, it gained a perfect sense of closure. ^^ All in all, I'd recommend this to everyone! |
Yuuki [ユウキ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Cast was great, the movie heartfelt. I loved it though it may seem splotchy - or something was missing - but I suppose that's what you get in an hour and forty-six minutes. The end was especially quick, but it was still pretty good. Either way, just try it out, whether or not you're a Kamenashi Kazuya or Oguri Shun fan (or both!). It's worth it! The only reason why I didn't give it a 10 was because of how quick it was to end. :) | | |
