As much as I may have liked Hotaru No Hikari there was absolutely no reason for a sequel. I definitely wouldn't go so far as too say this sucks, but it's entirely unnecessary and unwanted.
Much of the cast is entirely new, not a bad idea, but they all are inferior to the older cast, and the returning members have all been dumbed down. In the first series I actually complained that the supporting cast didn't receive enough attention, but now I wish that they would be ignored. Worse yet the relationship between the stars has turned into something unbelievable and uninteresting. It was fun rooting for their undeveloped relationship previously, now I find myself with little interest in the little details of their marriage plans. The two sides of Hotaru's personality are now to stark to be believable, and it feels like two distinct characters, except that this show seems to have a hard time keeping them apart and randomly mixes them for whatever convenience they find needed. The humor is often times great, but it's much more spread out and then overdone when it's there, rather than the constant lighthearted silliness of the original. And in the earlier episodes they literally just recycle gags and lines from the original.
Again I didn't hate this in and of itself, but the inferior quality of this doesn't live up to the first series, and even worse damages my memory of a series that I once really liked. |

just finished watching last episode. I watched it in japanese, though. So, I'm not sure if I got it all well but I'm quite disappointed. I thought that Hotaru would go to Taiwan with buchou but she decided to wait at home. Ahoka? Shinjinarenai! She seemed to did her best every time but according to me, she did her best only at work (only when she wasn't thinking about personal stuff).
She never did anything for buchou. I don't understand such relationships.
Second series was much worse than the first one. Hotaru didn't change at all. "Himono-onna" was funny at first but it gradually became very annoying.
I liked Seno, though. He was really honest and fair. It's a pity he never kissed her^_^ |

Better from the first season. Maybe i should give his drama 9.5 point. Why i can't give this drama perfect point. This because Amemiya Hotaru change drastically after went back from Hong kong. She's becomes more stupid and retarded maybe..hahahaha, trust me, just see the first series, On that series Hotaru maybe a himono-onna, but not like this. On that series she tell us "It such a long time i didn't falling in love like this", but on this series, you could say she never fall in love until now. Oh god, that's just exaggerate. At least i laughed a lot when i saw Bucho and Ahotaru. They are very good at this kind of thing.

While I was a hug fan of the first series, something about the sequel left a bad taste in my mouth. Was it the repetitiveness? I don't fault the screenwriters for finding a formula that works and sticking to it, but at times the episodes felt forced. Hotaru's development, or lack thereof, was at times unreasonable. Did season 1 even happen? Though I liked the characters of the love rivals, they're presence was negligible. There was never any doubt in my mind that Hotaru and Buchou would end up together, and any romantic tension outside of that was obviously going to peter out by the end. this series was good, but not great, and not the masterpiece that was the original! |

The second series is all about marriage. I found it rather a stretch on the first one and not really necessary; however, it's mainly cute fun and introduces lots of new characters. The plot didn't really interest me a lot and while the first few episodes were way too episodic for my taste, the latter ones were pretty pointless and repetitive. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the chemistry between Amemiya and Buchou, especially in the adorably atmospheric veranda scenes. |

Mukai is so hot! Dokyun-ko, dokyun-ko, yan-yan!
It was still a great series for it being the second one. I couldn't think of another way to make a sequal without ruining the first one. Ayase does wonderful as always and has great chemistry with Fujiki. Though I am a Mukai fan, I still think his character was a great fit to this series. Of course, the story is not perfect with someone random moments, but it is still series I would watch over and over again. |

The series was cute, but I don't think it was as great as the first season - few dramas ever are. Despite that, it was still fun to see the old cast and I liked the introduction of the new guy. It was a fun, but predictable complication to the main romance. If you liked the first series, then you'll still enjoy the second one. Ayase Haruka and Fujiki Naohito give great performances. |

I loved the first episode so much...but nothing after that. Bucho became just as annoying as Makoto from the first season. Even Mukai Osamu's interesting character, Osamu couldn't save this. So disappointed. |
