Pride [プライド] funny, romantic, sad, and just has a lot of heart i think
Proposal Daisakusen [プロポーズ大作戦] i watched it in one sitting so it got a bit repetitive ('hallelujah chance' and then he messes it up). but i think that the stories were sweet and made me nostalgic about high school : )
tklover's artiste votes (7)
Fukatsu Eri [深津絵里] she's pretty but not overly so and she's cute without being annoying (the way i feel fukada kyoko sometimes is). suki suki!
Ichihara Hayato [市原隼人] so kawaii~ have only watched his older stuff where he's still very young, i think he'll become less kawaii and more kakkoi in the near future :)
Kimura Takuya [木村拓哉] not overly good looking but there's just something about him. kawaii without being feminine, kakkoii without being arrogant, and romantic without being overly sappy. good actor as well, love almost all of his dramas and would rewatch them : )
Attention Please [アテンションン プリース] hard to be objective [Rating: 4/10] Like someone mentioned before me, this is definitely no Good Luck. Aya Ueto is pretty but this show shows that looking good isn't all it takes. Her attempts at being a 'rebel' comes off as bratty and overacted. Her attempts at being funny and genki is just annoying and also overdone.
This show is suitable for tween girls (you know, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen straight-to-video type of lameness). I realize that many dramas aren't meant to be taken that seriously, but the 'manga'-comicness of this drama is just distracting and makes it even less funny. Aya Ueto doesn't pull off slapstick comedy well at all.
Although, I thought that the training classes were quite interesting and seemed pretty realistic. It was fun to see the different things they had to train for and it did make me rethink exactly what it takes to be a flight attendant. Must be hard work to always be smiling and pleasant to customers for such long periods of time. Also, on a superficial note, Aya Ueto is really pretty and Nishikido Ryo is handsome in a brooding way.
The only reason I tried to finish this drama was because I'd spent money buying it on eBay. Save yourself time and money and brain-cells by watching Good Luck (with Takuya Kimura) instead, funnier (in a subtler and smarter way) and has MUCH more heart.
Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [神様、もう少しだけ] masaki killed the show [Rating: 6/10] masaki (played by fukuda) is incredibly annoying. cries every 10 minutes and is impossibly selfish, clingy, whiny, and inconsiderate of others. yes she's sick and all, but there's only so much sympathy and understanding you can juice out of it. (I do applaude her for her bravery in making that speech, though.) but i'm sure she cries in EVERY episode (and she does this heavy breathing thing when she does that is SO annoying).
plot also doesn't make sense but most drama series don't really anyway so that's tolerable. the only reason i'm able to stand the over the top plot and fukuda's character is because takeshi is in the drama.
the mom is kind of annoying at times (i'm not a very positive person so super cheerful people get on my nerves), but i'm sure a lot of people would be thankful to have a mother as understanding as her.
about the way everyone reacts to someone with aids is pretty sad too. i'd like to think that the japanese have more knowledge and understanding about the disease..
Pride [プライド] totemo suki desu [Rating: 10/10] there are some problems, such as the often times passive (borderline weak) character of aki etc. but overall i think this drama is one to watch. made me laugh, cry, and root for the characters.
i love kimura takuya in this drama. i think he's at his most charming (strong and passionate but also flawed and sensitive with a touch of melancholy). also, the rest of the cast is amazing. they create a drama with good flow (doesn't drag on) and lots of heart. both the romantic relationships and the bonds of friendship are touching. the show did a good job of alternating between the two themes to create balance so that it's not overly lovey dovey. highly recommended, kono dorama o mite kudasai!
