All I can say is ER24h3 is not just another doctor drama ~
There's never a doctor drama before that potray the miserable life in Tokyo after the heart of Japan is doomed by an earthquake of scale 7.
There's rarely a drama with a pack of briliant actors and actresses, each given a character that is unique and developed smoothly along the drama.
And like always, the theme song was fresh and uplifting.
The story is a continuation of ER24h1 *wink:that I havent watch* when Shindo Sensei returned to Japan after a year in Africa. He happened to meet Kaede Sensei, a few hours before the earthquake and promised to see her again at the hospital. The plan was ruined by the earthquake, and Shindo later meet Kaede not as a friend, but as a teammate, who struggles along Kaede and the medical staffs at the A&E, trying to provide the best for the patients while ignoring their own selves. The number of patients increases, but there were no water, no electricity, no food.. The first 48hrs was challenging; as the doctors not only deal with the injured patients, but as they realised that they are also victims.. | Reviewed by oshio_minahmi on 1 May 2005 | 2. | a must buy jdorama [Rating: 9/10] >the plot is good but they can make it better.I never watch the first nor the 2nd one,but i finished watching the 3rd one XD.
-im not a medic student*im still in highschool, geez*but doctors arent supposed to treat their relatives or the one who they love and as a MAHI*god knows what it stands for*Shindo-sensei should know it.
-I believed time is a main factor. If they can make the drama longer they can insert more detail instead of just touching the very surface of the characters. It will be nicer if they can tell more indept about other hospital stuffs.
-If only the script writer/dircter know alil bit of hospital stuff, they can make this dorama looks more rational
>The selection of the cast are good.Imo,the supporting cast are rather famous(at least i've seen them acting before) and they can act very well.Again,if only we can see them more^^'
>The ost is good and matches the situation.
>Overall, this series is a must buy for jdorama fans.Beside, this dorama is the best next to Gokusen 2.The main actor won the best actor in somewhat jap-dorama award. What are you waiting for?Watch it and feel it^^ | Reviewed by the_aki on 10 May 2005 | 3. | Can b good, can b bad drama! [Rating: 6/10] A lot of comments about this drama. This drama focus more on Nanako-san and she did quite well and pity her for losing her fiance in the drama:( At 1st, I wanna give 10 for this drama. However after repeating the drama twice, I changed my mind. Even though I don't know how the Japan's medical systems run, how come there were only ER doctors working in the hospital? Shouldn't that all the doctors from the other departments in the hospital help the ER centre when there was disaster like earthquake?? There was another unlogic scene in the last 2 episodes where they requested backups from outside due to food poisoning. What I 'm trying to say is if there is accident happen, shouldn't the hospital arrange staff or enough human resourse to support the ER????? Thru out the whole drama, the ER centre, in fact is the hostpital was operated by 4 experience ER doctors only. Sigh.... thought Nanako and Eguchi were good in the drama but the story doesn't make sense to me. So I gave a 6 for the hardworks and seriousness of the actors. | Reviewed by sayyes on 29 July 2005 | 4. | Another feel good drama [Rating: 7/10] As i watch these Japanese dramas, I can't help but notice a recurring theme: life is precious, life is good, don't give up on life.
Is there a suicide problem in Japan? I can trace this to just about every drama I've seen, however, nowhere is this more apparent than in this drama, and what better setting than a hospital with doctors whose very purpose is to save lives?
The drama starts with a bang with the whole "doomsday" earthquake scenario and catches your attention with all the suffering that needed to be attended to from the super "natural disaster". It kind of goes on auto pilot from there since there are so many people hurt, this drama could have gone on for far longer than the 10 or so episodes.
The drama is interesting and does not get all bland by going with a "save a patien" each episode formula, and instead focused more on the persona of each character, which is a plus. | Reviewed by Hiro Toyo on 6 March 2007 | 5. | Good Plot. Good Cast. What else more..? [Rating: 10/10] Couldnt bear to missed this Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji part 3 since I'm already hooked to both Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 3 part 1 and part 2. Glad to see Dr. Shindo and Dr. Kaede from the orginal cast from part 1 to be back. However, I missed q from part 2.Matsushima Nanako and Eguchi Yosuke has a high level of chemistry between them.
Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 1 was filmed in 1999, Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 2 was filmed in 2001 and Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 3 was filmed in 2004/2005. So when is Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 4 coming out?
Looking forward to Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji part 4 realli soon! | Reviewed by Jewel on 24 May 2005 | 6. | Not bad at all! [Rating: 8/10] This ER-style jdrama was pretty well done and I must admit I was hooked even though I don't usually like ER dramas much. Eguchi Yosuke and Matsushima Nanako were excellent leads and I was pleasantly surprised by the improvement in acting Kawaoka Daijiro made since Beach Boys. The plotline of the story was good (and it definitely helped to start the jdorama off with an earthquake - brilliant idea) but felt more directionless towards the end. All in all, a pretty enjoyable jdorama to watch! | Reviewed by Shindou on 16 December 2005 | 7. | Earthquake [Rating: 9/10] Kyumei Byoto Drama-series are all very fast-paced, quite unusual for Japanese Drama. | 1. | Comments by apple_grenade [Rating: 6/10] Eh... I wanted SO VERY BADLY to like this one. I like the drama, generally. But all the corns and candies overwhelmed - nay, stampeded and wrestled me to the ground in forced submission. Seriously. I have never thought I'd sacrifice anything in order to punch in Eguchi's and Matsushima's respective faces. There's a first time for everything, I suppose.
Look, it is a good medical drama. The earthquake setting is both interesting, eye-opening, and educational. But the script could use someone who hadn't been surviving on cotton candy for the last 30 years. You may think that that is my only complaint: the script. But it renders the whole thing so unwatchably boring, that I simply cannot help but highlight it as many times as possible. THE SCRIPT WAS INFINITELY TERRIBLE! And some of the storylines could do well with 120% revamping too.
On a positive note, I love the entire cast. Eguchi and Matsushima and Kyono and all delivered a good and heartwarming performance. Oguri Shun is so cute! I can't say that enough. I liked how he transitioned from a loafer wagamama pooh into a responsible far-seeing kid, even managing to rise above obstacles when his older brother broke down. The theme song is awesome. Great directions, too. One of the most surprising things, for me, was me falling head over heels for Koichi Mantaro as Dr. Hibiya. He is such a freaking badass; a complete opposite of Eguchi's Shindo (and a welcome opposite, too, if I may add). So, all in all, it's all good. Not great, just good. | 2. | Comments by Jeanxi [Rating: 7/10] Went off to a great start, but overall a bit anticlimatic due to the amazing start. The initial episodes after the earthquake were true tearjerkers, but after a while, it just wasn't touching anymore and became quite boring. However, they did really well in staying with the overall theme of coping with a major disaster, and I guess it couldn't be helped that it was anticlimatic if the story was meant to show people's strength in overcoming the problems in the aftermath of the disaster. It is also worth mentioning that this series is not as cheesy as Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 2 were in some episodes. Nonetheless, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of a great ending. Also, I'm a bit fan of Matsushima Nanako and has admired Eguchi Yosuke's previous works, but they didn't really shine in this drama. If anyone, it's the young ones that acted well and really showed a depth of character. I think it is mostly the script writer's problem tho. He/she should've further developed the character of Kojima and Shindo rather than just having them be the "cool" doctors that always knew what to do and was calm and collected. So, all in all, a pretty good drama, but I had higher expectations. I wouldn't be surprised if most j-drama lover's find this to be boring after the first two episodes. | 3. | Comments by Akiiness [Rating: 8/10] I was really surprised to see that they've chosen a more solid focus on this part of the trilogy. Again, they spare no one but Kojima (Matsushima Nanako) from the last 2 dramas, but as a veteran from the 1st of the trilogy, I was really looking forward to see Kojima and Shindo team up again. What I really like about this trilogy is that you don't necessarily need to watch the previous parts to understand what's going on in the drama. And I also really liked how they decided to make a segment/side story for Kojima and her romantic side (like Shindo's side story in the 1st drama). I didn't expect that. ;D But! The one thing that bugged me about this drama was the lack of focus on this group of doctors & nurses. I think the producers were trying to drift away from their original format, and simply focused too much time on the earthquake. Nonetheless, still very touching and dramatic in its own way (even if it's different from its counterparts). :D And lastly, I really think they could of done more with the ending... though not complaining now since there's a 4th season added!! | 4. | Comments by Jewel [Rating: 10/10] Couldnt bear to missed this Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji part 3 since I'm already hooked to both Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 3 part 1 and part 2. finished watching it 2 days ! great plot and it really made all the scenes looked so real ! i was touched by every single episode ~ i'll still get so tensed up even when i'm watching the 2nd time ! Eguchi Yosuke performed so well as usual ~ and with Matsushima Nanako in it added colors to the drama ! this drama really tells us how scary could earth quake be .. a really worth-watching drama !! | 7. | Comments by Shindou [Rating: 8/10] While the drama starts off with a bang with nothing less than an earthquake to set the tone, the rest of the jdorama, particularly towards the end, gets fairly routine as a medical jdorama. A bit unrealistic since the ER felt as thought it was an independent hospital but the cast carried this through. Great soundtrack and great footage of the earthquake!! | 8. | Comments by AngelXing [Rating: 9/10] Matsushima nanako did a really fantastic job in this drama (but then agian...doesn't she always). It makes you realize how critical can things get when your country goes into some natural tragedy. Love how it not only protrayed about what goes on in the ER but also politcally and also about how each individuals had to overcome it together. | 9. | Comments by yijing [Rating: 7/10] i think the whole show is rather impactful & really brings you to certain issues that you'll never think about. the entire series is focused upon the aftereffects of the earthquake. i think it brings justice to the different unsung heros during the disastor. i especially liked the part when they touch on the feelings of the firemen. | 10. | Comments by atheon [Rating: 9/10] April 2005: This time, from a trainee Nanako has become a experienced ER doctor, and the story focus the theme: earthquake. How the doctors, politician, nurses, patients, manage to overcome the disaster. Better than the first episode with more realistic approach, and is good to see Nanako back again, she will always be our drama queen~ | 11. | Comments by jo [Rating: 3/10] Why don't I like this show? First of all, too much emphasis on the world of doctors and surgeons again. Eguche Yusuke seems to be falling in love with the stereotypical characters, the last couple dramas he accepted, he played as a doctor. Somehow this kind of soured me so bad, even though Matsushima was on this drama. D+ | 12. | Comments by aiscess [Rating: 8/10] A really well made series..it's as if Tokyo has been really hit by a big earthquake..it also shows how people pick uo themselves after a fall..a very inspiring series indeed..plus it can also be a reference..if something..I hope not..occurs like that in our life. | 13. | Comments by chinz [Rating: 10/10] story is touching as with previous seasons, a lot of heart put in to make this season to create the earthquake scenario... nanako is so attractive, now as a 3rd in command in the kyukyu centre leading a trainee. an obvious character maturity... love it! | 14. | Comments by nienna [Rating: 10/10] Every single episode was inspiring!!! I loved every second of the responsibilties carried out by every personnel in order to save lives. It's a sad but interesting story. Each episode carries a new meaning of friendship, relationship and humankind. | 15. | Comments by StregaLynn [Rating: 9/10] The scale of this 3 version is the biggest one of Kyumei Byoto 24 series. While Eguchi and Matsushima both have performed a great job on the drama, the supporting casts are also contributed very well. A great drmas to make sure not to miss! | 16. | Comments by kaonashi [Rating: 8/10] This time the emergency team's trying to save lives after a massive earthquake. A scenario that is more than realistic for Japan residents. The second series was slightly better, but this one's really good too & I recommend it. 8+ | 17. | Comments by IniQx [Rating: 10/10] a very realistic drama with very strong human element. so touching that cried after watching every episode. the earthquake setting were very well-made & realistic. i'm looking forward to more Kyumei Byoto series! | 18. | Comments by aoi_dolphine [Rating: 9/10] This is the 3rd season of this drama and it's more focus on the earthquake which happened last year. This is a change to the ER situation that's happening on a day to day basics from the 2 previous seasons. | 19. | Comments by tinychiz [Rating: 10/10] One of the best dramas I have seen this year. Each episode kept me wanting to watch the next episode. All the major actors portrayed their roles beautifully. I would not miss this drama. 10/10 | 20. | Comments by cirrus [Rating: 7/10] it's always a joy watching nanako act. the stories can be a little too tragic tho. i actually prefer the previous installment with yasuko matsuyuki. stilll, overall, i enjoyed this drama. | 21. | Comments by Aunty Coco [Rating: 9/10] Initially it was intensed and addictive... But towards the end it was a bit draggy... Thankfully Eguchi Yosuke & Matsushima Nanako managed to lift up the show... | 22. | Comments by orange1806 [Rating: 8/10] heartwarming no doubt, but no new breakthrough from the previous 2 seasons. still waiting to see a little element of romance in the show. :) | 23. | Comments by merumerumee [Rating: 10/10] this drama retains its excellent quality, even though i prefer season 2. yosuke eguchi is cool as usual, playing his character flawlessly. | 24. | Comments by shikka [Rating: 9/10] haven't watch 1 n 2 yet....but this drama has more than what i expected from a ER series.....
yosuke n nanako.... | 25. | Comments by Tad [Rating: 8/10] Shindou Sensei finds himself in another dramatic situation! Not as good as Kyuumei 2, but still a good drama. | 26. | Comments by paul_muaddib [Rating: 6/10] Good storyline, but the 2nd one in the series beats this hands down. 1. | seles I had become a Nanako's fan because of this drama. Nana looks so cool and professional, her role is perfec tin part 3. I like this one more than part I cos Nana is more mature and gets more coverage here. It is truly an underated drama with many touching scenes and great acting of the lead. Go watch this and you will understand why Nana pick this as her come back drama. I agreed that the script is a bit off in later episodes but still it is a great drama to watch. | 2. | enen_shun i get so tensed up just by watching this drama .. great plot and exciting story .. great casts in it !!! it juz touched me so much ~ my Shun looked so kakkoii in it .. hahaz | 3. | MA103 I love Eguchi acting so cool in Kyumei Byoto 2.
