I don't think this can be called a masterpiece but I was pleasantly surprised. There is some real hokiness going on here, particularly whenever an animal is sick and they use really bad looking stuffed animals; there was also a CG bird in one episode that was really stupid. But otherwise, I was sincerely impressed with the moral questions and teaching moments presented here, one could tell that there was some real animal lovers writing for this series, and I would like to see many people watching this and thinking more about how we treat animals. Each episode was largely stand-alone, without too much connection, the larger plot was mostly pointless for it, but I feel it allowed each episode to be stronger. |
2. | Comments by Susan [Rating: 9/10] After drab, predictable performances as the eternal teenager, Oguri Shun stepped out of his usual shoes and into that of Tottori, veterinarian extraordinaire. Though the character was meant to seem cold-hearted and cruel, Oguri played the subtleties of the character well, making this his most watchable drama to date and definitely a must-watch. Inoue Mao was delightful as always, though nothing to particularly watch out for. I also found myself coming up short for feelings about Narimiya Hiroki, whose aloof and awkward style left me wanting more. Warning, you will cry during this show. One of the genius points is how the animals are elevated to actual characters, just as important and vital as any of the humans on the show. Though no actual animals were harmed, I still felt each loss. And cheered each victory! Not a perfect series, but still really fun to watch. |
3. | Comments by Patazilla [Rating: 8/10] I didn't have many expectations despite the great cast (all the three main roles being played by favourite actors of mine), but it turned out rather interesting and captivating (after I got used to seeing Narimiya in a lab coat and even worse on television as HANABISHI-sensei... really, WTF@ this name! xD) I think the pet-theme is quite new and I like how they depicted veterinarians' problems in todays society. Even though it was quite idealised in respect to Dolittle's abilities to save the animals, but that's fine with me. It's a dorama after all and I want my share of optimism/happiness. :P |
4. | Comments by SamuelC96 [Rating: 7/10] Juui Dolittle was fun to watch, sometimes the storyline dragged a bit but I really enjoyed it! :) For those who arn't really into shows about animals or vets, that won't matter this show is still really enjoyable and theres a lot more too it, than just saving animals. I recommend watching it. |
5. | Comments by Jhvx [Rating: 9/10] Good dorama, made me cry a bit, very good dorama of Oguri Shun, got used to Oguri having nice characters roles and in this one he has a mean character role and foul mouthed, very good acting, one of the best doramas of Oguri Shun |
6. | Comments by oonqy [Rating: 9/10] 1st - good cast. esp if u like gokusen 1 and HYD. 2nd - cute animals. 3rd - touching stories. i almost cried at every episodes. the last episode is so sad at one pt. is a must watch drama especially if you like animals. |
7. | Comments by xploring [Rating: 8/10] I enjoyed it. It is probably quite standard and cliche at times, but most of the human stories were engaging. Inoue Mao was really good in this even though her character didn't have much story. |
8. | Comments by gaston [Rating: 8/10] The best vet/pet dorama I've watched, if that says much, LOL. Honestly speaking though, it was definitely worth the watch, and the human side of things made it that much more enjoyable. |
