Almost all the characters were interesting and memorable in some ways, and the excellent acting from almost everyone really elevated this drama to another level. I felt at times there was a sense of freedom with the acting rarely seen in other dramas. I especially enjoyed the interactions and friendship between Kaede and her actress friend, and the wise and optimistic outlook on life from Chappy and his ex-wife. Sakai Masaaki's confession in episode 7 was one of the best, I thought. It does have a slow start but definitely recommended. Very uplifting last episode. |
2. | Comments by sucigam [Rating: 7/10] This was a pretty predictable drama made watchable by Natsukawa Yui, who with this drama and Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, has convinced me that she is the best 30-something actress working in jdramas right now as she has shown the ability to make two very different characters(from a very sarcastic doctor to an overly optimisic actress) completely believable. It's hard to recommend as there are pacing issues and the writing/direction isnt as polished as KDO, but if you are a fan of Natsukawa's then it's worth checking out. |
3. | Comments by Cerebus [Rating: 9/10] Fantastic comedy drama about love between generations. Natsukawa Yui is even better than she was in KDO. Tokui Yoshimi is also excellent as her dead-beat boyfriend. This show is really about not regretting the past, but rather thinking about the future. The plot offers nothing original, but it is excellently written. It is completely free of cynicism, and the characters are the sort of people you would actually want to spend some time with in real life. |
4. | Comments by sadacori [Rating: 8/10] Boy meets girl and falls in love. Problem is: the age gap is about 25 years and it's awkward to observe...at first. After a while, I found myself rooting for Chappy (the 60-year old man) and Kaede (the 35-year old woman) to get together.
The highlights for me were the songs in this drama. "Wasuremono" was a great theme song and "Psyche na Heart" was a catchy tune heard throughout this excellent series. |
5. | Comments by marspeach [Rating: 9/10] Didn't expect much after the first ep but it turned out to be really entertaining. Natsukawa Yui was incredible. Very different from her Kekkon Dekinai Otoko character but the show did have some similarities. Very character driven. Not perfect, but one of my favorite shows. |
6. | Comments by Anime Dad [Rating: 9/10] Another stellar performance from Natsukawa Yui and an entertaining storyline, with a great supporting cast. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something that doesn't focus on the looks of the latest Johnny's alumni. |
7. | Comments by gaijinmark [Rating: 8/10] A nice, sweet little drama. Sakai was great and Yui gave her usual solid performance, but my favorite scenes were the ones between Yui and Sawa Suzuki as two actresses for whom "Been there, done that" really applies. |
8. | Comments by chibichan [Rating: 7/10] this dorama is about Chappy - singer in 60's era- who try to find a love, He fall in love with the girl whom he met by coincidence, Kaede. but Kaede already have a boyfriend.
The story is very interesting. |
9. | Comments by Smiley_18 [Rating: 8/10] To my surprise, it turned out to be a better drama than I had thought. The main actor is not that good looking you know....which I think makes the drama funny and sad at the same time. |
10. | Comments by EstherM [Rating: 6/10] ItLs actually better than a 6 - it deserves a 7 or 8. In this case itLs me, not the drama (and certainly not the acting). ItLs just simply not my kind of drama. |
11. | Comments by bmwracer [Rating: 9/10] Thoroughly enjoyable drama and two wonderful performances from the lead characters, particularly the endearing Natsukawa Yui. |
12. | Comments by Wynter [Rating: 8/10] A really sweet drama with great performances by both Sakai Masaaki and Natsukawa Yui. |
13. | Comments by romi510 [Rating: 6/10] Current season, started watching 2 episodes, and it is getting pretty boring... |
