1. | Comments by Swedish_Japan_Lover [Rating: 8/10] The first 4 episodes of this was just booooooooring. It was like they tried so hard to get a a cool athmosphere in it, everything was sooo mysterious and soooo breathtakin, well they failed. It was just emotionless but with too much dramatic tense. When the fifth episode came out it took a complete different direction. They placed more feeling into it and it was like everyone's acting improved just like that! Takki's character began to show more feelings than just being cold like stone before (I wonder how much headache Takki had when tensing his eyebrows all the time!!). You began to doubt Ryo's character to be that lamely overrated good person. Mizukawa's character was instead of being that "cool sexy cop"-character which I got the chills from in the previous episodes she actually started to show some skills and got more emotional and real in her acting. And just like that with that sudden change everything got more interesting, the story started to develop more and same goes for the characters which nailed you to keep watching. I actually began to feel for the characters, especially Ryuzaki which in most dramas that have almost the same plot fails to create. It was fun to see Yaotome in a drama too, although he has a looot to learn from his sempais. In the end it was a very catching and thrilling drama despite the first four episodes. The ending was a bit too much maybe and the few minutes left after the peripeteia could have been skipped. Its a typichal ending where what you dont wantto happen happens and when you finally starting to accepting it it suddenly turns out to end diffrently, but really, you'll survive! |
2. | Comments by Sorata [Rating: 9/10] Despite all the bad reviews this had i was absolutly overwhelmed by this dorama, maybe because iLm a huge anime/manga fan, and this story is much more anime like than dorama like.
Ryuzaki Shinji(Takizawa Hideaki) is now my favorite dorama character, it used to be the King Takashi from IWGP, i loved everything about him the manerisms, the way of talk, of walking, everything, i think Taki stinks as an overall actor but he pulled this character really well.
Nishikado Ryo on the other hand once again ruined a perfect good character(coufh*Last Friends*coufh), the guy seems to have only one facial expression, his performance was really bad but didnLt ruin the dorama for me.
This dorama has so many memorable momments: the trade that Ryuzaki made with Aoi, that Aoi would kill the drunk guy and Ryuzaki would heal the kid who was about to die; the scene at the hospital when Ryuzaki forced the patients to choose the order they wanted to be healed and of course my favorite one when Ryuzaki was in the hospital and all the kids refused to be healed by him just so he could heal the teacher and then he went and healed all of them, pretty awesome.
The only thing this lacked was more on the romance situation between Ryuzaki and Nagisa(Mizukawa Asami); anyway this is a pretty good dorama i recomend it. |
3. | Comments by SayaOtonashi [Rating: 5/10] Although the idea was quite good, the dorama was poor. There were too many times when everything felt so unrealistic. *** SPOILERS ahead *** For example, Sawamura has just been stabbed and everyone who was present in the hall just started taking in circles as if nothing had happened? Obviously, a conversation between Sawamura and Ryuzaki was needed at that moment, but seriously... There's also another thing Japanese producers are not good at: portraying country-wide menaces and crisis. You just have a whole hospital shut down but you will only see less than twenty patients in there... Oh, and the prison where Ryuzaki was in... It reminded me so much to The Silence of the Lambs! Acting was also really forced, with these ridiculous gazes and surprised/afraid faces. Anyway, the main plot, the legend of the town and all about God's and Devil's hands, was nice. And even though I felt this dorama was mediocre overall, I really loved how it ended. So I would recomend this one if you are a Takizawa Hideaki and/or Nishikido Ryo fan and if you have nothing else to watch. This dorama may also be good to watch between deep, dark, heavy doramas. |
4. | Comments by dreamer10231 [Rating: 9/10] i really anticipated it. the subs are out as soon as three days; however once i have it. i can't seem to watch it. i guess it's too heavy at the moment. the plot is interesting. then there's ryo and tackey. powerhouse. but then maybe i got a too high resolution of the episode. lol...definitely, i'll be watching this real soon
i've seen it...there are some flaws with the drama...but i love it even the animation effect, which i hated at first...it did not disappoint me with the story, which got me interested with this drama...i really like how the story evolved and revolved...i'm not really sure whom hasabe likes, is it ryosuke or shinji...i expected a different ending (last minute) given the story...too bad it's only 9 episodes...because ryo got sick lol but really i believe the story will be able to give more if it was extended... |
5. | Comments by d0npian0 [Rating: 8/10] Very interesting idea. l loved how they tried to show the different reactions people have when they're confronted with power. Also, I love the idea that it's God's Hand who turns people insane, not the Devil's. For this alone I'd give 10/10.
Now, the reason why I gave 8/10 points instead.
This type of drama (like Maou, Majo Saiban, Bloody Monday) has a tendency to be exaggerated. At first I'm always excited just to be annoyed in the end.
Also, I couldn't help but wonder how much better it could've been with a different cast. Let's face it: Takizawa Hideaki and Nishikido Ryo weren't chosen because of their acting talent but because of their agency. It's about ratings, not talent. I mean, it's always like that and in most cases I can live with it but here I just hated what they made of a great idea. |
6. | Comments by eyasblue [Rating: 8/10] A suspense drama with Taki as the bad guy and Nishikido as the good guy. Can it get any better? Mizukawa's acting sucked big time. She's got potential, but needs to develop it before getting on the same stage as the big guys. Her part wasn't planned in well in terms of her relationship with the two lead males. Her character is flat. The whole time she refuses to use the power of death, until her boss, the one whom she doesn't seem to care about, dies. She just seems to be following the script on cue., so her acting isn't natural. Plotline is interesting, but a little more complexity could have been added to Taki's character, and I definitely wanted to see more going on between the brothers at the end. |
7. | Comments by Susan [Rating: 9/10] This was a fantastic dramatic series with a great supernatural twist, though it suffered from quite a few random and underdeveloped side characters who detracted from the stars and the main plot, rather than furthered the story. Takizawa Hideaki is the one to watch in this series. He goes from delightfully evil, to quite and contemplative, to wounded angel by the end of the series. He gave a truly stand out performance that far surpassed anyone else on screen! this drama has it's flaws, but it kept me on the edge of my seat and was great! |
8. | Comments by nishishi [Rating: 9/10] Nice dorama! altough not that original... The creators of Orthros no Inu started from a cliche (opposing powers stuff) and from that they did a pretty good job on the plot. Good twists... a good ending (imo).. very enjoyable character develpment. The casting is ok... its nothing memorable but its not bad as well... There r some scenes that makes no sense at all... like one guy goin' to a ER room.. touchs the patient and no one sees that... That could be better made... but in the end Orthros no Inu is a quite nice dorama.... |
9. | Comments by Nermal [Rating: 7/10] A frat boy like Ryo playing a good guy?! hahaha I had to see this! Seriously after one episode it looks like it might be quite interesting.. it's a matter of how the cast will be able to deliver it..
[after watching] It was decent. Nothing that kept me on the edge each week yet it still had me watch it anyway.
A lot of the situations will make you think about human nature too.. which I thought was an interesting perspective on the matter. |
10. | Comments by donna8157 [Rating: 6/10] I'm not sure what I was expecting out of this series. I mainly watched it because of Takizawa Hideaki - it had been awhile since he had been in a drama series. Unfortunately, it was really disappointing. The characters didn't have enough depth and the story was too contrived and predictable. What were they thinking? I think they must have taken some of the ideas from the movie "Unbreakable" directed by M. Night Shymalan. |
11. | Comments by daniela [Rating: 9/10] great topic!!..something I've been looking for..kami no te and akuma no te, both have to co-oexist and co-operate to maintain the stability of the world..this jdrama shows us how kami no te brings world into chaos..and it also shows us that if there were akuma no te, it would be used as ultimate weapon..because we humans are just selfish and greedy beings seeking for power.. |
12. | Comments by Jhvx [Rating: 9/10] It's a SF dorama, plots unrealistic and kakkoii actors, Nishikido Ryo and Hideaki Takizawa. Not boring though but don't expect this as the best dorama of 2009, but worth try it because the plot is somehow different and not repetitive as many doramas |
13. | Comments by nickylynn [Rating: 9/10] Takizawa Hideaki is awesome in this!! Interesting to watch as the story unfolds. Wish they would have chose a different female lead. One that would have had more chemistry with Hideaki. But overall, exciting to watch with a good ending. |
14. | Comments by YankeeChan [Rating: 5/10] Very poor execution. They honestly tried too hard to induce a cool/intellectual atmosphere but everyone with half a brain can see how irrealistic most scenes were. Though, again good idea behind the series just very very poor execution. |
15. | Comments by bobspelledbqwrds [Rating: 8/10] A little too corny. Tone the corn down and it would be a good drama. I wish there was an explanation for the end. And what was up with the random love scenes? I was waiting for it to progress, but nothing happened... |
16. | Comments by oonqy [Rating: 9/10] really great casting~
Takki n Ryo's acting are good! e ending is great~ though it seems to wrap up in a hurry ~
the last 2 episodes had built the climax well.
otokomae + gd storyplot = best! |
17. | Comments by ryouji [Rating: 9/10] i love how the mystery runs in the story... from the first episode until the last it's so unique! the story is easy to predict what will happen.. haha it's nice that hideaki didn't die! |
18. | Comments by Chimar [Rating: 9/10] I dont like Nishikido as an actor, but I loved the plot of this drama (so you know I didn't judge it by the cast =P). It was nice to see Taki playing a "bad guy" role |
19. | Comments by katsup [Rating: 7/10] interesting concept, but pretty meh overall. I ended up watching it really fast cause it kept me interested but it was kinda forgettable in the end. |
20. | Comments by maguro666 [Rating: 7/10] The beginning was a bit odd but the story line was getting a lot more interesting towards the end. Worth sticking with it and keep watching |
21. | Comments by xxxYxxx [Rating: 10/10] Really really good dorama!Every episode show a surprisingly plot especially the end and the connection between 'God Hand' and 'Evil Hand'. |
22. | Comments by loveaomori [Rating: 9/10] very nice drama, but as good as maou but with a lot of suspense. Takki's acting is still much better than nishikido's one. |
23. | Comments by Mabelka [Rating: 8/10] Very original idea and interesting plot. Despite supernatural powers it's still very easy to believe, very refreshing. |
24. | Comments by Megumi_Nagase [Rating: 4/10] I just ranked it 4 because i kinda like Ryo's acting. This drama is booooring! Watched until chapter 4 and dropped it. |
25. | Comments by compaqmac321 [Rating: 8/10] it was pretty good. the female character ruined the show...she was useless to me, other than that it was pretty good |
26. | Comments by EstherM [Rating: 3/10] Oh dear! The idea behind the drama is sort of interesting but the script and acting are just cheesy and terrible ... |
27. | Comments by tachan [Rating: 8/10] There's a lot of plot holes and I wish there was more romance, but overall I liked it and couldn't stop watching. |
28. | Comments by chibichan [Rating: 7/10] its confusing, how they potrayed the good and the evil, at the end i didn't really finish watching this series |
29. | Comments by Oba-chan [Rating: 8/10] This is not a mystery drama, so it's okay to be happy ending..
OST: Hikari Hitotsu [Takizawa Hideaki]: 4 |
30. | Comments by simpletoad [Rating: 9/10] this is a damn bloody good drama plot but the ending totally sucked balls ROAR! could have been a 10/10. |
