I find him too bland and not very convincing when potraying his feelings during the crucial moments. Karen Miyama as Rin was wonderful. But most of all, I was impressed with Koyuki's effort. She brought an element of grace & style and was beautiful throughout. Her delicate acting was understated especially during moments when we know that she was falling for Koyanagi & it was so subtly shown that we feel an immediate connection & empathy for her feelings at those moments. Although I've given a 10 (perfect score) I did wish for a more finite ending where Koyanagi (Tsuyoshi) & Kitajima (Koyuki) really got together as a couple. Kudos to Koyuki & cast for a beautiful story well acted. |
2. | Comments by Nekobus [Rating: 8/10] Not as good as Boku no Ikiru Michi, but a worthy successor. It's not especially that realistic, either, and it lacks the direct emotional impact of Boku no Ikiru Michi. A lot of the themes are fairly heavy-handed and obvious, and the writers were pretty shameless in exploiting Rin-chan's character to evoke emotional responses out of the viewer. However, don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it. There were lots of nice moments, especially between Tsuyoshi and Rin-chan.
It drags a bit in the middle, but (SPOILER!) after the return of Kanako and in the last couple of episodes especially it really picks back up. |
3. | Comments by DragonSpirit164 [Rating: 9/10] Good drama focusing on the theme of divorce. Not much of an intriguing story, as it focuses pretty much on how a man changes his outlook on life because of his daughter. Nevertheless, it's worth a watch as it presents a refreshing change of theme from all the other dramas. The girl acting as Rin was really good in this, not to mention extremely cute as well lol... I could really relate to her feelings very well from personal experiences. However as before, I don't really fancy Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's plank-like acting, and this drama hasn't really done much to make me think otherwise. |
4. | Comments by carie_akanishi [Rating: 8/10] Actually I was contemplating whether to rate this dorama lower cos sometimes it gets quite slow like boku no ikiru michi..but wanna say I like it more than boku no ikiru michi cos stories abt parents-children never fail to touch me n it was definitely more entertaining n very nicely presented, making it such a cosy show to watch. I actually cried while watching the first episode. Rin chan is adorable n Tsuyoshi's acting is good |
6. | Comments by yume [Rating: 10/10] This has got to be the BEST drama Kusanagi Tsuyoshi has ever starred in, without a doubt! His character opens up a scary place in all of us--a place where one cannot love, moreover doesn't know how to or WANT to, their own child. It's not your typical frilly, happy, comedic drama about romance and some silly personal battle. This is about love and being human. Koyuki also shines. Must-See. Seriously. |
7. | Comments by emiko [Rating: 10/10] I love it! The best family-oriented drama I have seen in this past few years.. I cried when watching some scenes involving Kusanagi n the lil girl, Karen-chan... Although the opening n ending sequences(n the story itself) looks simple, but it made a big impact once u start watching it. This piece has some kind of magnet to keep u seating on your couch, n keeping u from forwarding any scenes.... |
8. | Comments by TsuyoshiK [Rating: 10/10] Very touching drama. The best after his last drama Boku no ikiru michi. Tsuyoshi is growing stronger in his acting. Here we see how a father can transform his life from a cold dad to a warm n loving one. Sacrificing along the way all for the sake of the daughter. The ending was a bit sad but on the brighter side of things, the love between father and daughter will last forever. |
9. | Comments by orenji [Rating: 9/10] A very touching dorama. A father who slowly changed to someone who no longer takes his job as first priority but takes his daughter Rin as his number 1 priority above anything else. Another worthy dorama of Tsuyopon to mention about after "Boku no Ikiru Michi". Saikou! ^_^V |
10. | Comments by arglborps [Rating: 10/10] Well I just became a father myself a year ago, so this story was that more touching to me, I guess.
Once again Kusanagi Tsuyoshi proves that he's so much more than just a member of SMAPxSMAP, his acting is convincing, very touching and brilliant. |
11. | Comments by DJ [Rating: 10/10] I've seen over 50 Japanese dramas and this is one of the best I've seen. A very touching story about a negligent father who ultimately discovered the most important purpose of life -to have relationship and to be able to serve and help others |
12. | Comments by compaqmac321 [Rating: 10/10] its just a great show, not much else to say. i dont think ive seen a show that talks about the things that they talked about in this, if there was a single parent it had always been a deceased parent involved never divorced, great show. |
13. | Comments by atheon [Rating: 9/10] Dec 2004: A very detailed drama about story after divorce., how a man can change completely and willing to do anything for her daugther. I really liked koyuki's role in this drama ^^)v I think this is one of the best drama in year 2004~ |
14. | Comments by jdfan [Rating: 9/10] A good drama with convincing performances from Kusanagi Tsuyoshi and Koyuki. I think this is Kusanagi best so far. The rating is extremely high for a family type drama. Very good show! |
15. | Comments by ongrina82 [Rating: 10/10] What can I say? Tsuyoshi's acting is really damn good!! Karen too, even she is still so small. What a touching drama. I'm sure to be buying more of Tsuyoshi's drama. |
16. | Comments by IniQx [Rating: 9/10] a simple yet heart-warming drama that depicts a change in a father after a divorce & he in turn improved his relationship with his father. |

22. | Comments by sw33t_laydee [Rating: 8/10] I thought this drama was really good. It was interesting to watch the family dynamics play out as it progressed. |
23. | Comments by raku [Rating: 10/10] Tear-jerker extrodinare; I loved it anyway! Kusanagi was brilliant, and Rin-chan IS the Cutest thing on earth |
24. | Comments by williu [Rating: 9/10] A very well done drama, although the acting from the male lead is EXTREMELY stiff and bad at times. |
25. | Comments by nagaioyasumi [Rating: 7/10] Nice family drama, but it wasn't particularly emotionally involving. Still, a heartfelt watch. |
26. | Comments by doink-chan [Rating: 8/10] A good series. I haven't watched Boku no Ikiru Michi yet, but doinkies hopes to soon. ^^ |
