^ Boy, that's sad. I know "Ryomaden" ended with an average of 18.7, not sure about "Gou", it was probably close to the same, maybe a little lower. This one never even cracked 18 once!!
And unfortunately, the ratings are a true indicator of how awful this thing really was.
Doctor-X ended with a very impressive final episode ratings of 24.4.
Can PRICELESS catch up with its last 2 episodes?
Going My Home continues its free fall, losing almost 2/3 of its audience.

I wonder if Tomoko Yamaguchi is saying to herself, "What the hell was I thinking?!!"
Re: "Doctor X". From what I've seen a lot of those ratings are coming from the same people that would have tuned into the "Dukes of Hazzard" back in the '70s just to get a look at Catherine Bach in hot pants. Good ratings do not necessarily mean a good drama. But with those ratings I've no doubt there's a "Doctor X Special" or "Doctor X - 2" on the horizon.
Yonekura Ryokofs drama achieves the highest audience rating among commercial broadcasting dramas in this year
On December 14, it was revealed that TV Asahifs final episode serial drama gDoctor X ~Gekai Daimon Michiko~h (aired December 13, 9PM), which stars actress Yonekura Ryoko (37), garnered this yearfs highest audience rating at an average of 24.4%.
The drama, which stars Yonekura in the role of a freelance female surgeon, has averaged 19.1% audience rating across all 8 episodes, which makes it the top prime time drama of the year. The final episode of the drama momentarily peaked at 29.9% at 10:01 PM.
Yonekura was grateful as she stated, gI am truly happy that many people – more than I could have ever imagined – tuned in to the drama,h and also commented that, gI hope that the viewers and Daimon Michiko will be able to meet again.h (Ratings are based off Video Researchfs data for the Kanto region.)
The script for the drama was written by Nakazono Miho (53), who also wrote TV Asahi drama gNasake no Onna ~Kokuzeikyoku Sasatsukan~h (2010) that also starred Yonekura.
At a pre-broadcast press conference, Yonekura spoke about the difficulties in using medical jargon with, gUntil now, I have been using my physical body, but this time, I had to use my brain. I could not stop the slight yawnh, however, when it seems like the high ratings made her in high spirits due to the high ratings. She appeared fulfilled as she talked about wrapping up filming with, gIt was too short, and flew so fast. Everyday, I was able to learn something.h
Then there is the matter of the exciting catchphrase. Just as Matsushima Nanako had popularized the phrase gShochi shimashitah (gI admit it.h) in gKaseifu no Mita,h Yonekura has popularized the catchprase gWatshi, shippai shinai no deh (gBecause I do not fail.h)
Like her characterfs catchphrase, Yonekura has not failed in TV Asahifs dramas in which she starred – gKurokawa no Techoh (2004) garnered 17.6% in ratings, gKemonomichih (2006) garnered 16.4% in ratings, gKoshoninh (2008) garnered 16.7% in views, and gNasake no Onnah garnered 17.6% in ratings.
It seems that Yonekurafs appearance in the confirmed sequel will also gnot failh audiences.
This concludes the 2012 Winter Season, and the year!

A decent start for the new Taiga casting Haruka Ayase... a great start compared with last year.
Confirms what I thought. "Taira" started out at 17.3, there just isn't enough interest in the Heian era so they started out in a hole they were never able to dig themselves out of. The script and casting didn't help much either.
I think the last taiga set in the Heian era was "Yoshitsune" my previous choice for worst taiga ever. While casting Takky in the lead was a huge mistake at least it kept the fangirls interested enough that they didn't get killed in the ratings.
