AWESOME!
Harry Potter is out today... but I prolly won't get to see it until the weekend, and that's only if my plans are cancelled. _________________

I have no interest in the HP movies either, but I love the books.
On topic: I saw the movie Up the other week. I enjoyed it a lot, but I thought it was a little overrated. I'd still watch it again when it comes on DVD though. _________________

It's truer than you think.
That's why I read comic books more than novels/stories/etc.

So you're located-impaired as far as comics are concerned, ne?
Speaking of that, I just bought Essential Iron Man, Volume 3 on eBay.

Location-impaired? Yeah, always a problem in Australia, especially if you don't live in a capital city.

Maybe not.

Overrated? It took them one full week to create 4 seconds of film. That's seven days for four seconds. Amazing.
I love reading comics AND books. I wonder where I find the time! My sister isn't off until the weekend, so I'll have to watch it then (Sunday, prolly). _________________

Wow, that's impressive! And I didn't mean anything bad by my comment. It's just that a lot of people recommended this drama and I guess maybe I anticipated too much. I really enjoyed it and gave it a B+.

That's not that amazing... Isn't that typical for SFX scenes?

I wouldn't say it's typical. It does usually take a while to produce high animated films. But a week for 4 seconds is insane. I believe it was the balloons.
I haven't seen the movie myself, but it's on the list. _________________

Yeah, but I still think it's not outrageous when it comes to SFX: a lot of planning has to go into the shot, as well as post processing....
If you've ever seen the behind-the-scenes stuff for ILM, you'd see how many man-hours it takes to do the stuff they do...

At the risk of going in circles, I AGREE with you, that a lot of animations take loads of time. I do simple claymations with my students and it takes three weeks to pull of 30 seconds. But that's going from scratch to a finished product.
I think with UP, it was just the production stage that took a week, not the whole pre- and post-production. There was an article about it in the paper.
I didn't claim it was "outrageous", but I don't think it's average. _________________
