Being 6-3/6-4, Abe's quite the imposing figure.... Perfect for a Taiga.

It's starting on February 10th for us. I'm kind of looking forward to it; saw commercials and everything, but I think that Tsumabuki Satoshi looks really...smiley/goofy in this one and it bothers me. I guess I'll check it out anyway. _________________

Ack, I forgot about this...
No surprise about episode one getting split: they're typically longer than the other episodes... Except the last one... Which'll get split as well.

Luckyyy!
I hadn't realized that the Shirley Temple Taiga had finally ended. But I was watching a bit of the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade last night and on came a commercial for "Tenchijin".
I've really been looking forward to this.
There are no guarantees with Taigas. (see, Princess Lollipop, Shinsengumi, and Yoshitsune.) But there have been far more good ones than bad ones. And when they're good, they're a treat that lasts for a year. _________________ Manga is to Literature

I dunno, before the start of epi 1, they went to some museum and showed what I'm guessing was the real thing(or a reasonable facsimile thereof) and that's how it looked.

I've watched up to ep. 6. IMO Naoe Kanetsugu (in the drama) is one of the (if not THE) most annoying characters I've seen in Taigas. Based on the 1st 6 episodes, it's realy hard to imagine how he can be so admired by all the famous generals, since he cries incessantly (and I mean he cries like a baby), is immature (compare to others around the same age), and acts like a total loon in some circumstances. I understand each person is different, but if you compare the young Takeda Harunobu in Furin Kazan the difference is startling. I know each person has different personalities, but a great general usually exhibits some of his later traits and demeanor while he's young.
Satoshi Tsumabuki mugs and overacts up a storm (and who seems to be the only actor/actress doing that), the sets are really fake-looking (I know the budget is probably spent on all the A-list actors/actresses plus the current economic environment), the battle scenes (or lack thereof) are pathetic (compared to Furin Kazan) and the quiet scences are worse then those in Atsu Hime. So far, IMO it's only interesting to those who're star gazing. If it still doesn't improve by ep. 10 I'll drop it for sure.
May be someone can attest to the accuracy of the main character portrayed in the drama.
