I have been watching Regatta.
It is very boring.
I think I will stop watching Regatta.
On a happier note... I popped Hyakki Yakosho into the portable DVD player this morning. (Stuck watiing for a delivery guy.)
http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Hyakki_Yakosho
And I've been zooming through these episodes like they were M&Ms.
It's a tame little series of Ghost stories. Each episode is only 20 to 25 minutes long. And the Ghosts, demons, monsters are... well, for the most part they're kind of cute and harmless. (Mostly they are fairly inexpensive looking CGIs and a few old fashonied camera tricks.)
The guy who seems to be having a ball doing this show is Watanabe Ikkei. He plays a demon inhabiting the dead body of the young hero's father. Only our hero knows that Dad isn't really Dad anymore.
I buzzed through 4 of the 9 episodes today. A wonderful way to pass the time. _________________ Manga is to Literature

Some issues there.
I really enjoyed that drama.
Ive seen Ruri No Shima twice and not because of Yutaka ultimately. The young lead actress is very good as is the rest of the cast. _________________

I've started "The Last Lawyer".
http://www.jdorama.com/drama.713.htm
So far, I love it. It's a wonderful Hiroshi Abe vehicle about a Lawyer with no clients and no prospects. In order to make the rent he's forced to take a series of loser cases from the Public Defender's Office.
He's brilliant, of course. He tends to win. So you know the reason he's living hand to mouth is going to be a major plot point later on in the series.
The cases are pretty well thought out mysteries. The supporting cast is just terrific. And Abe is having a great time inventing another memorable character.
My only real problem with watching the show is that my copy is one of the Chinese Retail sets. And as Eng Rish subs go... these are some of the worst I've seen.
Abe's character talks fast in this one, and the cases are fairly complex. And the subbers clearly weren't up to the task.
I knew I was in for it when I watched the opening scene.
A little girl is watching an American Courtroom Drama on TV. The show is in English and she's reading Japanese subs.
The Chinese subbing group created English subs for what the actors were saying in English. And never was their incompetence more clearly demonstrated.
My point? Three Cheers for the Fan Subbers!!! _________________ Manga is to Literature

Seems like it will be interesting but it's hard to tell with just the one episode.
Today's dramas:
Joshi Deka ep 10 (final). It was decent. Nothing memorable. I think Nakama Yukie's best work is Trick.
Binbo Danshi ep 3- An okay show. Not horrible. Funny at times. Shun is mostly cute to watch but it's really annoying to see him be so selfless and keep sinking into debt.
Smiling Pasta- ep 7-9- Taiwanese drama but I think the lead actor looks like Sakurai Sho for some reason (the haircut?) so it should count!
