A café in Tokyo. Two females confront café manager, Takashimizu Takashi, and demand that he choose between the two of them. He remains unperturbed as the ladies make a fuss right before his eyes but when they press him to make a choice, he nonchalantly flees the café.
At the same moment, Kanto Agriculture University third-year student Mano Tohei holds a name list in one hand as he waits for people at Narita airport. Therefs Fujii Ayaka who is sad that she has to separated from her boyfriend; Suenaga Mihoko whose mother is sending her to the airport in a luxury car driven by a chauffer; Chiba Kazumi who is apologising as she retrieves items that have fallen out of her luggage; and Wakamatsu Ryuta who has been sitting near Tohei and glancing at him. These people are setting off for a three month practical farm training as part of their university course. Tohei, the leader of the group, explains the aim of the training to his members, and they set off together for Hokkaido, their practical training destination. On the other hand, Takashi, who hasnft gone to the university for a long time, is unaware of the training until he pays a sudden visit the campus. His professor informs that he will fail if he doesnft go for it.
Arriving in Hokkaido, the five of them ride in a bus to the town of Kitamibetsu, where they are welcomed by a young man, Ashizaki Katsuya. They immediately proceed to their accommodation at the research centre of their field supervisor, Professor Teranishi Yutaro, but are taken aback by the rather run down building. Takashimizu Yuri comes hurrying over. She learns that Takashi, who grew up in Kitamibetsu and is from the same university cohort, isnft with them.
The next morning, Takashi, who reached the research centre late in the night, and the other members, who have woken up at 4am, are assigned to Takashimizu farm, Ashizaki farm and Yoshida sheep farm for their practical training. Takashi, Tohei and Ayaka are put in charge of Takashimizu farm. However, Takashi disappears right in front of the farmfs entrance. Ayaka and Tohei only realise his absence when the farm owner, Takashifs father Takashimizu Hiroshi, asks them for his whereabouts. When Mano contacts Takashi on his mobile phone, Takashi, whofs talking to veterinarian Kato Akira, just tells him hefs quitting school and hangs up. Meanwhile, Takashifs mother shows Ayaka how to check for signs of udder inflammation in a cow. The remaining five are taught as they help with farm work at the different farms but they contribute little because they can't settle in. Cow milking starts at Takashimizu farm. Ayaka, who hurt her leg, is unwilling to go so an eager Kazumi goes in her place but commits a serious mistake.
At the restaurant, the townfs people complain about way the students work. When calls emerge for a review of the training system, female lawmaker Miyamoto Natsumi tells them that she would like them to consider the townfs difficult financial situation.
That night, the townfs people hold a welcome party in honour of the students. Everyone is concerned about Takashi, the heir to Takashimizu farm, but he stuns everyone when he says he wonft be coming back to this town again because there isnft any future. After voicing his thoughts, he takes his leave. Hiroshi watches the entire proceeding in silence.
The next morning, a high-spirited Kazumi finds a cow in labour in the cattle shed. However, Tohei and the rest who rush over to Takashimizu farm donft know what to do. At that moment, Takashi comes to the farm. He tries to remain unconcerned but when he hears the sound of a cow wheezing in pain, he rushes to the cattle shed, gives Tohei and the rest precise instructions and successfully delivers the calf. Right after that, Takashi is told by his father to get out, and he leaves the farm.

Episode 2 Synopsis
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
Itfs the fourth day of practical farm training for the students attending Kanto Agriculture University. Ayaka and Ryuta are somewhat motivated in their training after experiencing the calffs birth. On the other hand, Mihokofs indifference and Takashifs attitude remain unchanged. Takashi had declared at the welcome party that he will quit university and wonft come back to the town.
Takashi comes to the delivery shed where Tohei and Ayaka are trying to decide on a name for the calf. Takashi says, gThat calf isnft a pet. Itfs an economic animal so it doesnft have a name but is called by the number on its ear tag 023.h He pronounces their plan to look after the calf impossible and walks off. These words harden Toheifs resolve and he goes to ask Takashifs father, Hiroshi, to let the students look after the calf. On the other hand, Takashi, who has returned to his home, broaches the subject of his scholarship to his mother, Sachi, and sister, Yuri. He has to repay the scholarship if he stops attending university so he asks his mother if the family can help to repay a portion of it. When Takashi heads for the cow shed after his mother tells him to discuss his plans for the future with his father, he sees Tohei and Ayaka in the delivery shed working to separate the calf and its mother under Hiroshifs instructions. Tohei endures the anguish and pulls the resisting calf away from its mother. The scene reminds him of how he had felt the harsh reality of livestock farming when he was a high school student and decided that he wasnft cut out to be a farmer, Takashi tells Akira. Kazumi overhears his words and looks at the cow figurine on her mobile phone strap.
The next day, Takashi and Mihoko go to the convenience store together. On the way back, Takashi mentions that he had once seen Mihoko crying at the café he worked at, and she abruptly kisses him in order to cover her bewilderment. Ayaka witnesses the scene from afar and is perturbed. Takashi, Tohei, Ayaka and Mihoko are gathered at Yoshidafs restaurant Yorkshire for lunch. Natsumi, the townfs lawmaker, arrives. After exchanging a few greetings, Natsumi gets Takashi out of the restaurant to speak to him about his intention to drop out of university.
On the other hand, Ryuta and Kazumi are at Takashimizu farm caring for the calf. When it is about time to go for their meal, Kazumi senses from the calffs listlessness that its condition is abnormal. She frantically calls Hiroshi but he tells her that they are in charge so they should decide what to do. Kazumi immediately calls Tohei. Tohei rushes over to see the calffs condition and diagnoses it as suffering from indigestion. However, Kazumi doesnft believe him, and calls Takashi, who is in the middle of a conversation with Natsumi. Natsumi is telling Takashi that the town will be in trouble if the practical training fails to yield results. When Takashi finally arrives at the farm and says that it is indigestion, everyone present is relieved. But Tohei, whose identical diagnosis was disregarded and distrusted, is irritated with Takashifs manner when he walks away after the rest ask him to pick a name for the calf.
The next morning, without saying a word to his group members, Takashi leaves a memo telling Professor Teranishi that he has gone back to Tokyo and goes away. Kazumi is found to be missing. The four remaining students and Takashi, whom Professor Teranishi notified, rush to the calffs small stall, and find Kazumi asleep beside it. She spent the entire night there because she was worried about it. When Takashi asks her why shefs putting in so much effort to look after the calf, Kazumi tells him that her family broke up after her parents divorced when she was in high school. It became her dream to create a farm where families can live together. That is why she wants to do her best during the training, she says as she cries. Seeing her like this, Takashi decides to spend the three month practical training together with everyone else.

Takashi decides to participate in the practical training. However, Katsuya tells Ryuta that a dropout from the training will soon emerge – someone sick of human relations and communal living. At that moment, an ominous mood fills the female dorm as a lackadaisical Mihokofs haughty attitude angers Ayaka. At Takashimizu farm, Tohei is enraged when he hears Takashi call the group members gyoung masters and missesh as he discusses his plans for the summer with his sister, Yuri.
The next day, Kazumi comes down with a cold. While Ayaka takes over the role of caring for Green, Mihoko takes the opportunity to skip training under the pretext of nursing Kazumi. On the other hand, Akira asks Tohei to get along well with Takashi.
Takashi comes to Takashimizu farm as Ayaka milks the cows. Ayaka behaves coolly to conceal her nervousness in his presence.
Later in the day, the students, Kyoko, Taro, Katsuya, Fukiko, Yoshida and Sumiyo gather at the research centrefs living room as Fukiko demonstrates how cheese is made. As the demonstration takes place, it soon becomes clear that Takashi has been conscious of Mihoko ever since she kissed him. Ayaka is miffed by Takashifs demeanour, and Tohei experiences a sense of irritation when he sees Ayakafs reaction. Taro perceives the tangle of intentions. Furthermore, Tohei gazes in annoyance at the townfs people gathered around Takashi. Professor Teranishi says family management is the basis of the farming family here so the eldest son shoulders the hopes of the family and the town. As he listens, Toheifs expression darkens as he thinks of his own family and all the hopes that have been placed on his elite older brother.
That night, Ryuta, who has woken up to use the bathroom, discovers a pulse of light flashing in the distance and goes in pursuit of its source but c c
At Takashimizu farm the next day, Takashi suggests that his father use electric fences to effectively manage the cows. Hiroshi says he didnft ask for his sonfs opinion; Tohei agrees with Hiroshi. But Takashi rejects Toheifs view as the idealism of a novice. Because of that, Takashi challenges Tohei to get all the cows that are out grazing in the pasture to move back to the shed, and Tohei brashly agrees. A resolute Tohei, heads towards the pasture. At the same moment, Mihoko is on the phone telling Ayaka that her tolerance for the training is wearing thin and she might just give it up soon. A shocked Ayaka sees Tohei driving the cows back to the cow shed. Tohei is triumphant after he returns all the cows to the cow shed. Takashi is astonished too but his father has a stern expression on his face. One cow, Greenfs mother, is missing. Takashi, Tohei and Ayaka search desperately for the cow but when they finally find it, they discover that it canft move because of its injuries. Profoundly shocked when he hears that the cow may be culled if its injuries donft heal and it canft produce milk, Tohei huddles in the dorm alone and cries.
The next morning, Kazumifs mobile phone rings. The call is from Tohei, who has returned to Tokyo. He tells her that he is quitting the practical training and hangs up c c

Episode 4 Synopsis
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
Tohei, who feels responsible for the cowfs injury due to his rivalry with Takashi, has returned to Tokyo. In his apology letters to the people in Kitamibetsu, Tohei wrote that he had returned to the university but, in truth, he doesnft go home and instead wastes time away at a manga café. Kazumi seeks Takashifs father, Hiroshi, out at Takashimizu farm and asks if he will give Tohei a chance since he forgiven her mistake. Kazumi claims Tohei will feel frustrated but Hiroshi dismissively points out that it was the cow, and not Tohei, that was injured. gWhat can he do for the injured cow?h Encouraged by her encounter with Hiroshi, Kazumi cheerfully confides her intention to call Tohei to come back but is opposed by Takashi and the rest. Professor Teranishi asks Takashi to take over Toheifs role as the groupfs leader because hefs the most suitable person. But in addition to the difficulty Takashi faces on deciding the studentsf rotation, hefs also saddled with menial chores.
In the midst of all that, Kazumi secretly asks Katsuya to go to Tokyo to look Tohei up but just as she passes the air ticket to Katsuya, Takashi appears and takes the ticket from her. Kazumi explains that she canft help worrying about Tohei. A disappointed Takashi looks at her with a trace of contempt. At Kyokofs invitation, everyone has fun playing with fireworks in the garden that night. They get into a conversation on love and Mihoko casually informs them that she has a fiancé. She then continues to say that shefs still waiting for someone to snatch her away. Her glance then meets with Takashifs. Ayaka is annoyed by the exchange of looks between the two of them.
At the same time, Tohei decides to return home. When asked for the reason for his return, Tohei blurts that the training was a waste of time and that he wants to study abroad as he forces a smile. His father, Tatsuhiko, then proudly takes out the latest book Toheifs illustrious older brother has published. He tells Tohei to use his talent and circumstance to make his mark. That night, Fukiko collapses again.
The next day, Katsuyafs planned journey to Tokyo is disrupted when his mother is hospitalised. Ayaka and Mihoko are going about their tasks at Takashimizu farm but Ayaka isnft doing well, despite her enthusiasm motivated by her sense of rivalry with Mihoko. Furthermore, Ayakafs distraction following her friendfs revelation that her boyfriend has been cheating on her, angers Hiroshi. When she returns to the research centre, she throws down her mobile phone in self-loathing and irritation. Seeing, this, Takashi borrows Kyokofs car and invites Ayaka out for a drive.
At the same moment, Kazumi calls Toheifs home from the research centre. When Tohei returns, and hears from his mother that all his group members are worried and waiting for him to return, he stiffens. On the other hand, Taro, who for some reason has accompanied Takashi and Ayaka on the drive, Takashi and Ayaka reach the seaside. Ayaka is delighted by the splendour of the scenery, and Takashi explains that he has brought her here to encourage her, because that is what Tohei would have done for any of them to cheer them up. Ayaka is disappointed to hear that. Just then, Takashi receives a call from Tohei telling him that he wonft come back because hefs going to study abroad. Kazumi and Fukiko are disappointed to hear this.
The next day, Katsuya goes to the Agriculture Studies department at Toheifs university to find him. He has come to Tokyo to bring Tohei back. When Tohei says that there is no reason to return, Katsuya tells him that his ill-stricken mother wants to spend this summer with everyone. Even Takashi had said it will be great to pass this summer enjoyably with Tohei, Katsuya says as he desperately asks Tohei to go back together. Tohei shrugs him off. Later, as he is being introduced to his fatherfs subordinate at a restaurant, Tohei suddenly tells his father he is returning to Hokkaido and leaves the table. Of those at the research centre welcoming Toheifs return to Hokkaido, only Mihoko wears a lonesome expression on her face c c

Episode 5 Synopsis
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
Kitamibetsufs annual sheep festival is scrapped due to the townfs fiscal woes. The townfs people, who had been anticipating this event, decide to hold their own festival. Natsumi asks the students to put on an item, and, with the exception of Mihoko, they sportingly present various solo performances judged by Taro and Kyoko, in order to determine their programme. At Professor Teranishifs suggestion, they eventually decide to perform a music piece with cow bells. Practice immediately begins but Mihoko is absent.
Takashi comes to the fields to find Mihoko sitting there instead of participating in the practice. As Mihoko looks at her engagement ring, she tells Takashi about her fiancé in Tokyo. She doesnft have any feelings for her fiancé and she doesnft want to return to Tokyo because she knows that once she does so, everything in her life will be planned out for her. If thatfs the case, she should continue with the training here, Takashi persuades. Then the two of them return to the research centre. Begruding their late appearance, Ayaka rejects Mihokofs participation in the practice and Mihoko leaves hall.
On that day, Ayaka returns to the dorm to find Mihokofs engagement ring sitting in a box on her table. She secretly puts it on and discovers to her horror that it canft come off. She uses soap to remove the ring from her finger but unwittingly causes the ring to fall down the sinkfs outlet. Filled with guilt, Ayaka apologises to Mihoko later that night, anticipating anger. Mihoko readily tells her that itfs ok.
With the festival just one day away, the students make use of their break time to practice with the cow bells. Ayaka invites Mihoko to join them when she walks by the hall of the research centre. At that moment, Mihokofs mother, Miyoko, appears. An expression of distaste crosses her face as she looks around the centre, and she declares that she will bring Mihoko back to Tokyo with her tomorrow. That night, Ayaka passes a handwritten music score to Mihoko, and once again invites her to join them in the performance tomorrow.
The day of the festival arrives. The venue, which includes stalls and an area to experience sheep shearing, bustles with people. The studentsf turn to perform soon comes but Mihoko declines to join them on the stage. When Mihoko continues to behave haughtily despite Professor Teranishifs exhortations, Fukiko unintentionally lifts a hand against Mihoko. Miyoko is furiously angry when she witnesses the scene. She criticises Fukiko and the town, and then forcibly drags her daughter away. They return to the research centre where Miyoko informs Professor Teranishi that she is bringing her daughter home. As Mihoko prepares get into the taxi and depart for Tokyo, she suddenly changes her mind and starts running towards Ashizaki farm.
At Ashizaki farm, Fukiko apologises to Mihoko for slapping her and shows her the gloves that she has knitted for her. Mihoko has become just like a daughter to her after she knit the gloves. She is worried for Mihoko and sees through her behaviour. Fukiko gently tells Mihoko that she doesnft have to pretend to be bad, that she should have more confidence. Mihoko breaks down and cries as she apologises to Fukiko. When Mihoko returns to the research centre where her mother is waiting, she tells her that she wishes to stay for the practical training. The other five welcome Mihoko with smiles but just at that moment, Professor Teranishi rushes out of the centre to tell Tohei that the cowfs condition has taken a sudden turn for the worst c c

Episode 6 Synopsis
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
Takashi and the rest rush to Takashimizu farm when they receive notice of the deterioration of the cowfs condition. As Akira calls out instructions, they quickly assist but Ayaka falls asleep in the shed amid the fluster. When she awakens, the cowfs condition has stabilised and everyone is at the Takashimizu home having breakfast.
Feeling down due to her wretched state, Ayaka asks Professor Teranishi to give her supplementary lessons. Tohei and Kazumi join in the lesson but Ayaka starts dozing off midway through Professor Teranishifs lecture. In the midst of all this, Hiroshi decides to cull the cow, and the students are dealt a rude shock. Takashi tells Professor Teranishi that he believes a farmer should not give up or get rid of an animal just because it is useless. In turn, Professor Teranishi asks if Takashi believes that the lives of the animals should come before profits and whether itfs the reason hefs reluctant to take over Takashimizu farm. Hearing about the gRent-a-Cowh system, in which cows are loaned to clear grass, from Yoshida, Takashi passes the pamphlet to his father and asks him to consider this option.
On the other hand, things do not go well for Ayaka who is taking care of the horses at Ashizaki farm. Katsuya angrily questions her sudden enthusiasm for the practical training and berates her for pushing people around. Completely dejected, Ayaka goes to Takashimizu farm. Takashi cheers her up. But when he leaves the shed and sees his father talking to one of the agents, he confronts him. They get into an argument over the fate of the cow. Hiroshi says his son is not qualified to be a dairy farmer and orders him to go back to Tokyo if he is unhappy with the way the farm is run. Ayaka interrupts and reproaches Hiroshi with uncharacteristic fervour, dismissing his remarks about the cowfs uselessness.
That night, Professor Teranishi tells the students that he was the one who had asked Hiroshi to handle the cow as he normally would because he wants them to accept the reality that diary farmers face.
The next day, Ayaka, who simply cannot come to terms with the cowfs culling, pays Hiroshi a visit. She wants Hiroshi to reconsider his decision and when he continues to go about his work without uttering a word, she says she will move all the straw to the storage house in exchange for that. Hiroshi tells Ayaka itfs impossible but she announces that she will do it, and starts working on it alone. Before long, the other students realise what she is doing and come to give her help. Even Takashifs mother, Sachi, tries to persuade her husband to reconsider his decision for the sake of the students. But after the six of them finish moving all the straw, they learn from Yoshida that none of the places running the gRent-a-Cowh system can take the cow in because they are full. In the end, it is decided that the cow will be culled.
The next day, a truck comes to Takashimizu farm to pick up the cow. The students cry as they send it off in the truck. That evening, they are served beef for dinner. Ayaka and Mihoko excuse themselves from the table, saying they donft have any appetite but Takashi stops them from leaving. Hearing the significance of the words gitadakimasuh and ggochisousamah from Kazumi and Tohei, the two of them return to their seats and all six of them somberly chew thoroughly on their food.

Just wanted to mention a funny happening between the casts of this drama, in Nakai Masahiro's Bowling SP. Its between Toda Erika and a member of the Manzai duet, Oriental Radio, Nakata, but they all call him Acchan.
When it was Toda Erika's turn, Nakai kept teasing her, that she couldn't stop laughing and even tears came out a bit. Suddenly she goes and hold Acchan's arm, in a cute voice, saying, "Acchan, tasukete(help)!".
Nakai, the audience and Acchan himself were like, "oooooo??!". And acting big, Acchan move forward a bit and posing kakkoi, pointing at Toda Erika and signing that Toda Erika is his girlfriend xD Nakai was like, "Yeah, she asked your help, like she's yours, huh?". Acchan said to the audience, "Sumimasen, my girlfriend will throw the ball now,". xD
Then, later during Acchan's turn, his summer wish is "I wish to meet and get marry with an actress, after filming this drama!". Nakai asked, "Hee?? Who do you want to marry with??". He replied, "Well, first I thought, any one is okay... but just now, it was really a good chance... so I decided, I WANT TO MARRY TODA ERIKA!" xD
I thought Toda Erika will reject him, but she said, "Acchan kakkoii!!". Areee~~??? xD Masaka, masaka?? haha...
But later, that guy went gutter. And Nakai said to him, "With this, you won't even get her phone number!". Toda Erika puff her cheeks and made a disappointed face, "Acchan, saiaku (you're the worst),"... ^^
