some friend of mine told me that most of the beautiful women in Japan in general (ordinary people) are Okinawans.
they would be correct. in mainland JPN, the okinawans are looked upon as very exotic because of their totaly different look to regular JPNese. The have darker skin tone, rounder eyes, (compared to yamato-jin's paler skin tone and almond-shaped eyes) but still speak JPNese whereas they are not 'too' foreign from the JPN population. _________________

How come? It's good..... (IMO)
Except for the English lyrics which hardly makes any sense....
thats the part i'm talking about. and besides she's a better dancer than singer. besides I still like her older stuff (chase the chance, body feels exit, neverend, etc.) much better. _________________

I like her old music and her new music too, but I like more of her new songs. I think she can sing in "Wishing On The Same Star" but on some of her older songs her voice wasn't as good. Her english lyrics don't make sense but they're funny. I laugh when she says bootylicious in Uh Uh and "me so horney" in So Crazy.

amuro namie has a concert going on in japan. I REALLY want to go..
im thinking of asking my Okinawan friend to come with me.. its ending in april or may. im gonna try to schedule it during spring break..
i've always been a big fan of hers since i visited okinawa in 96, she was a real big star by then (her releases were sweet 19 blues, chase the chance, body feels exit at the time).
also the myth about okinawans being hairy, dark, round eyes, is only about half true. okinawans for a long time were not considered japanese, and the history of okinawa is very different from mainland japan (they even had their own language, which sounds totally different than japanese). they were treated as outsiders (or as another race). my friend is half okinawan and half mainland japanese, there was soo much prejudice against this kind of coupling that her father's parents who are mainland japanese came to okinawa to stop the wedding. _________________

Yes, Okinawa was it's own kingdom before.

I think it's getting better now compared to before. But yeah, it's still there. I've experienced it too from some mainland Japanese F tourist who I got into an argument with at one time.

I've loved Namie for a long time. She and Max were my first JPOP artists that I heard. I still remember them as Super Monkeys, LOL. I must say Namie's voice has improved over time. I used to say "Her songs are good but she can't sing too good ", but I think she's improved a LOT. Plus she's got a quarter Sicilian in her, so I gotta have her back because I have Sicilian in me too, LOL
About the Okinawan prejudice thing....yeah, it has gotten much better, I believe. I still know Japanese who have prejudices against Ainu but not Okinawans. One of my Japanese friends said "Okinawans smell different", hehehehe. I have heard that said before. I don't think it's meaning they stink, but just have a different, uh, aroma? Maybe implying they are a different "breed", lol.
