Heh. I forgot you're in Riverside, potato-guy. I was thinkin' "How in the hell does he know about Todai??" Yeah, I've been to a number of them and they're pretty good, though the sushi is only average...

You've gotta swing over to the South Bay: with such a large contingent of Japanese living here (Gardena and Torrance), there's lotsa good Japanese eats to be found... Big Grin

Ramen is essential to all fanboys. Specially during anime conventions or having drama/anime marathons. Big Grin

I've been there before the sushi's are TERRIBLE. The sashimi's are too dry and most of the foods are way too westernized. Rolling eyes Never going back there again.

on a side note.. i've never had miso soup...but it sounds really good!
what's that thing that they make in 'otousan' "life with dad"? .. the long stringy thing... soba? Crazy

It is very delicious..miso shiro is a mild one and very low in salt..basically is made out of a fish stock called "dashi". Now, I'm hungry and it made me want to go to the nearest supermarket and cook at home Bleah [/i]

I traveled all the way down to San Diego to eat at Todai. I dont think there is one in Riverside. Not too many asians in Riverside compaired to other cities now that I think about it.

It wasn't that bad. I mean obviously if you want authentic Japanese food the only place to go is Japan. I think Todai has the next best thing closest to home. It wasn't just the food either. The Todai I went to knew how to pick their waitreses Lovey Eyes huba huba hehe

btw isn't Todai a prestigious University in Japan? If so why would you name a resturant after that.

I am... slightly disturbed at the thought if instant food, no matter where it comes from. Blame it on my genetical heritage which had a lot of good cooks, but well... I prefer it fresh and self-made... *goes to cook*

Since nobody mentioned it, I like to put a raw egg in my ramen right after cooking it. That's good stuff!!! Smile

Anyone ever get the chance to come down to Hawaii, I can recommend a GREAT ramen establishment. "Gomaichi" is the name of the restaraunt and it's about a block away from Ala Moana shopping center on Keeaumoku St. Their tan-tan men is great. But I prefer the cold chicken noodle. `ŁI!! (killers!)
