The highest rated Japanese series on TV was Oshin, a daytime (I'm pretty sure) drama of some 300 15-minute episodes from 1983-84. Its peak rating was 62.9%. Several of the earlier Taiga dramas had ratings close to 50%. I don't think any dorama series in the last 15 years reached a 40% rating.

btw, if it isnt much to ask, i'm an avid of Takuya Kimura, i'm also wondering if anyone know what particular episode hit the highest on each Takuya's drama, an episode no. will do.

Too many Kimutaku dorama, any particular one? Some of the older ones are no longer in the respective database.

Cos highest rating for Gokusen1 only 23.5% for the final episode. Bear in mind the ratings are just an indicator of what is popular to the Japanese audience during the screening period, and what appeals to them might not be as enticing for us. E.g. H2 is one of the best dorama this year, but it faired badly at the ratings. Furthermore Gokusen1 is a sleeper hit then. By the time Gokusen2 is screened, it has accumulated quite a following, hence the higher rating as compare with Gokusen1.

but i cant find it in the Jdorama database
as well as Jukunen Rikon
can any1 provide the synopsis? im curios about those two dramas

 littlemissfab, I am a huge fan of Mitsuru Adachi Manga.. hence H2 is a God send.. =) Great theme song, charming cast, I can just go on and on LoL..

Actually, Hana Yori Dango is right up there with Dangerous Beauty. Dangerous Beauty is in the Jdorama database, here..
A brief synopsis for Jukunen Rikon:-
Tetsuya Watari, a salaryman who is on the verge of retirement. Nostalgia and a sense of relief came over him on that last train ride home from his office. After years of slogging, it is finally over. But unknown to him, what awaits him at home that evening is not supper but divorce papers. Apparently, his wife has plans to retire too.
