Isn't this all just speculation? I remember about 5 or 6 months ago, the same rumors came about and nothing has happened. Although I'd love to see a Japanese version of Hana Yori Dango, I don't think it's going to happen for awhile because I heard that the producer of Meteor Garden has the rights to the show until 2005. Besides....is it me or is anyone else worried that it would be hard to pull off? HYD is my favorite story and was disappointed w/ some aspects of Meteor Garden. Besides, a dorama usually lasts from 10-12 episodes, right? Well the anime was made in 1996 and it took 51 episodes and they still had to cut some parts from the anime. Meteor Garden took 20 seventy minute episodes and it only reached Volume 28 (and it looks like HYD will end with 35 or 36 volumes) and, again, they had to cut some things out. I'm worried that they can pull it off with such a limited amount of time.

I'm sorry to all her fans, but I really can't stand Kyoko Fukada--I just hate her! She can't act, and she always plays such whiny, stubborn, unbearable characters which make an otherwise good drama horrible. For instance, I was pretty curious about Strawberry On The Shortcake because it starred one of my favourite actor/singers, Takizawa Hideaki. But I'm disappointed because now that I know she's in it, I don't want to watch it anymore. Anyway, I also really like the idea of Yuko Takeuchi playing the lead role. She's a cute and versatile actress who matches perfectly with Oshio Manabu. I can't wait to watch it!

I agree with every single word you have said! I couldn't agree more, it's like you pulled it right from my brain before it could hit my mouth, LOL.

LOL, I remember that movie. I thought it sucked though. Doumiyouji's actor....no, just...NO. I thought the movie generally was too "goofy".
My thoughts exactly. I remember laughing hysterically when I saw the kick where Makino strikes Doumyouji and declares war on him. I thought it was...cheesy.

so is this true?? the new version to this drama?? personally i also think oshio manabu fits the role...i liked him in Love Revolution..
No, this drama is currently not under production and I don't think it will be for a long time or even ever. I think it was just rumors that started circulating about a year ago.

Wondering who is left to play the female lead if there really will be a show.
Ryoko is pregnant, utada is planing on entering the US market, most of the previous other contenders for the role no longer fit the bill as they get older and are not able to pull of the part of a young teenage girl.
not kyoko.. i really dont agree.. yuko is a good actress but she hasnt got the look.. i think mai kuraki would be the best.. she has the looks for the next san chai.. dont know bout her acting though.. hehe
(ps hope its ok to make this thread i looked and there wasnt one, just people discussing it in upcoming dramas, arashi and oguri shun threads... all over the place lol)

haha, it will be pretty difficult to get ppl to post here I think, since ppl on the arashi+shun oguri -threads post like crazy! Unfortunately I can't add info, but I contibute this link: http://www.jdorama.com/drama.956.htm
I just found it. I'm definitely going to read the manga just to get to know the storyline.
Since the main actress doesn't have special looks (no offend ^^), I still hope that she has great personality, how else would she be able to win Jun's heart *g*
I don't know anything about abe.. but I saw Shota in Yankee Bokou ni Kaeru special and I like dhim.. Also as a side note he is the younger brother of Matsuda Ryuhei ( which means the second son of Matsuda Yusaku and Miyuki Matsuda/Miyuki Kumagai)

I'm really excited about this drama~! hopefully it'll turn out really good.. I dont know about the other casts....havent watch their actings before.. But Shun & Jun! Yaaaaa~!!! TWO GREAT ACTORS...
My older sister influenced me to read this thing, and i thought "this is cool, huh". I really liked the original work. I think that this dorama will be a change in popularity from the Taiwanese version. In this production my staff and costars will make Hana Yori Dango different. This will mean we're together as a group for a long time. Right now doing the scenes isn't easy. This is going to be a new school drama for me I think.
