Didn't know that Girl Talk made number 1 on Oricon. I guess she could have turned it down, since she's kind of low key. But then again, there are so many Korean performers this year. It's that Korean Boom that's going on in Japan. Rolling eyes
And yeah, she's Okinawan! ....Even better! Bonk hehe

Hm, I don't know if I should watch Kouhaku this year. Last year was boring except for the fact that Yuuka made a quick appearance and Zone's great performance. Other than that, I wanted to go to sleep inbetween the enka songs and horrible games.

Enka makes Kouhaku!

Looking back at the previous 54 years of the event, Kouhaku has always showcased the latest enka stars. I've heard many of the younger fans through the years complain that there are too many enka acts. However, everyone must realize that enka is a major part of the show's heritage. Year by year, Japanese POP music has slowly taken over the event, but never has it totally dominated the line-up. That's why, no matter how much people complain, enka will continue to occupy at least 20-percent of the overall program.

Also take note that NHK is similar to PBS in the United States. NHK's primary focus has always been the older generation. When the older generation slowly die off, then maybe NHK will modernize. But until then....

I like Enka. I like the guy who dresses up in that outrageous lady costume. The guy who competes with that other lady every year. They compete with costume, song and props. What was his name now....? Crazy
And of course Kitajima Saburo. Hope he gets his usual position again. I was suprised last year when SMAP sung last.

Matsudaira Ken is that guy who dress himself as a Jidaigeki character, with a shiny Kimono, right ???? He'll play Benkei in the next NHK Taiga Drama (that one will have Takizawa Hideaki as the lead actor).
Samba ????? Oh-oh ... bleh hehe hehe hehe

I agree, I like Enka too, specially Nagayama Yoko, Tendo Yoshimi, Hikawa Kiyoshi. I think the Enka seccion of the last Kohaku was better than the J-Pop seccion (the male pop acts were fine, but the most of J-Pop acts of female team bugged the hell out of me bleh).

You can if you want, but I wouldn't bother. It's going to air on HDTV in Japan. Several people there will be capturing it in that format, and then post on womby's.

I have the last 3 shows on tape. I only watch the performances that I like. I don't know if I have the patience to watch an entire show again. It's long and I have other things to do.
