Not at all. What makes Facebook dangerous for me is that OTHER people can post whatever on my wall. So even though I'm not doing anything, others can on my space. That's what made me deactivate it. The privacy thing is good to an extent, but why take the risk. |
well, you can erase what others have posted to your wall. my friend did that when someone posted something she didn't want others to see. however, the damage is already done if you don't check facebook often enough.

Yea, and the audience I'm worried about are students, who practically live on FB. _________________

Yet this forum has the same dangers as FB. The whole world can read these messages and they don't even have to register or be your friend. Ne?

You can also remove tags of pics yourself and can disable the wallposts so no one can write on your wall.. |
I guess it's how secure is the info.... Yeah, you can disable stuff, but the fact that it's there and possibly can be breached/accessed is the concern...

No there's a difference. Well, at least for ME there is. When I joined FB, it's core purpose was to FIND friends you've lost in touch with. That was its base purpose. So of course I would use my actual name, otherwise none of my ol' highschool friends could find me.
Here, I choose to reveal my name or not, and whether I do or not doesn't matter. It's also limited to a particular audience. Mostly JDorama fans come here. The chances of my students coming here is minimal.
And you have to remember, I'm talking about my job, so it does work for others where it IS NOT a risk. For me it definitely is. _________________

and then you have to worry about their parents finding out what their kids are snickering about.
teachers these days are not supposed to have lives outside of their jobs -- i think they're supposed to be asexual too...

It's even worse for male teachers. At least I can pat a student on the back when she breaks down crying (although even that is a risk). _________________

Speaking of teachers, did you ever watch the drama Monster Parent?

Eek, I must've missed it.
EDIT: Found it... You only posted the review in your profile, not in any thread.

Yup.
This was probably discussed as well, but why the switch?

My sister was into Korean dramas long before, and she was telling me about one that sounded fun, so I watched it with her. I've also preferred Korean movies to Japanese movies for years, so the switch seemed natural for me.
Now I'm bouncing back and forth. A good balance. _________________

I dunno. Judging by your previous posts, I'm not sure if you will take to the change. I hope you do, though. _________________

I think if I had someone to watch 'em with, it'd be more of an incentive... *nudge nudge*

Well, if you really get into them, then next time I'll send you a new one I haven't seen yet. Then we can watch it at the same time. _________________
