According to the Wiki bio, she's African-American and Korean, but born in Japan.... Not Japanese at all, though fluent in the language as well as English....

Pokemon Theme Song, omoshiroi~~
from Tokyograph:

Crystal Kay sings Pokemon theme

The next in line of the "Pokemon" movies will have its theme song provided by R&B arist Crystal Kay. Titled "ONE," it will be her first tune for an anime film.

Producers have apparently been considering the singer since 2001, when she sang "LOST CHILD" for the "Satorare" movie. They finally decided to use her music for the upcoming 11th film, "Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi," which opens on July 19.

Crystal Kay commented that she has been a fan of the Pokemon franchise since she was a child.

The release date of "ONE" has not been announced, but it will begin chaku-uta distribution on March 8, the same day that the movie's trailer enters theaters.

Crystal Kay to make drama debut

Singer Crystal Kay (23) has been given her first regular role in a television drama series. She will appear in NTV's "Hidarime Tantei EYE," which is scheduled to premiere on January 23.

"Hidarime Tantei EYE" started out as a one-episode special in October, but the network decided to develop it into a complete series for this winter. The show stars 16-year-old Hey! Say! JUMP member Ryosuke Yamada as a junior high student who begins seeing visions after a corneal transplant, leading him to fight against a criminal organization.

Crystal Kay will play the part of Akira Kokusho, a genius hacker living in confinement. She already made her acting debut in Naoto Takenaka's movie "Yamagata Scream" earlier this year, but this will be her first time acting on the small screen.

Crystal Kay to collaborate with Namie Amuro on new single

Crystal Kay will release her new single "REVOLUTION" on September 16 and Amuro Namie has participated in the single as the guest vocalist.

Crystal has always been a big fan of Amuro, often singing her songs during her lives and at karaoke. Amuro willingly agreed to collaborate with Crystal upon receiving the offer.

Regarding the collaboration, Crystal commented, "I had hoped that we would collaborate one day, so I made this inquiry when the year began. I am very happy that she has agreed to do this. My dream has come true."
