How are the disabled and deformed treated in Japan? Are students with physical, but not mental, difficulties mainstreamed in the education system? Does Japanese society tend to exclude those with missing limbs?

I don't know about the school system or if dramas are accurate, but it seems tough compared to what we have here. Like in Beautiful life, they have access problems for wheelchairs and stuff like that.

I know they are actively working on robots and other apparels to help the disabled and elderly, but as to their integration into society, I have no idea.

I find this subject very interesting. I use a wheelchair, and I really wonder if by some miracle I ever get to visit Japan, how I would find access.

It's not too bad where I live in England, but there's still places I can't go because of steps and no ramp, etc.

Slightly off the subject - are there many other disabled people on Jdorama.com?

What disability does the main character have in Beautiful Life? I've not been able to find out exactly what it is.

Something like that. I didn't even remember Kimutaku was in it. It was good. Check out the ratings: Ep 11: 41.3%. Shocked

i think that's the single highest rated ep from a popular dorama, not including taigas of course.
