Just something I was curious about, do they rerun shows like this on TV over there? Seems this and too many other good shows go so long between posts, just wondered if that's because they don't air them after it finishes it's original run, just wondering.

Thanks, grew up on reruns, cable TV was not as big 20 years ago as it is today. Figure they also do it for movies, this was a promo for a Kaji fiim marathon.

Was thinking about watching this again, for at least the 5th time, after we were talking about Kyoko the other day, got to thinking what to watch that she's in, not her biggest role but the show is just great, have only seen about 70, but this would easily go in my top 10...Masami has been quiet lately(?), just have not heard her name as of late. _________________

Yeah, Masami. Know that Yui has kept busy, Masami seemed like she was going to be a superstar, then I heard that the Sailor Suit show was a total flop, don't know whether that hurt her career.
The movie she was in is good, Touch. _________________

Gonna need to check if there is a thread for this show.
The thing is, she was a superstar already....especially back when sawajiri erika was around..in JAPAN there were rumours of a sawajiri group and masami group....
BUT no offense but masami has never really been amazing with her acting and this started to be recognized in JAPAN alot more...Thus she hasnt been iin much lately...
Especailly with actresses, u get a phase in their career where they are really popular mostly due to their looks and once that phase is over, they need to be able to mature into a more acting orientated popularity as well as being pretty but i dont think masami has done.
I dunno this is my opinion and some of my frends over here in JAPAN>? _________________

Your opinion seems very logical to me. I understand, once you get past 20 you need more than looks, maybe that's why I don't see certain people around once they older. Except for Erika, Yui and Juri, older ones, but not old, I tend to like better, perhaps like you said about the acting, none of this probably makes sense, getting late here, need to get off soon.... No real reason for this, just figure she doesn't get mentioned enough anymore and this is the DZ thread. _________________

I think the reason Dragon Zakura isn't as popular as other doramas is because it lacks the comedy that are familiar with jdoramas. But I think the series is really good. Maybe not as funny as other dramas but it is inspirational. The creators did well to give the viewers study techniques throughout the series. And with a cast of Abe, Yamapi, Teppei, Saeko, Masami and Yui, eye candy for both guys and girls!!
With regard to the eye candy comment, what about Kyoko Hasegawa? She looks incredibly good in all her school teacher outfits (ralph lauren, etc). I saw on the Gacky forum that some were comparing Masami, Saeko and her in DZ. I would have to say that Yui is the prettiest and Saeko is the cutiest. However, Masami may be the most attractive (not necessarily in DZ...just overall). But, I bet if any of us say Kyoko in person, we would think that's she's stunningly beautiful.

I agree with you 100%, though Kyoko looked more glamourous in other roles, bet we all wished we had nerdy teachers like her. _________________

I didn't the original was that good. But since it's been 15 years, maybe they think everyone will have forgotten.

The drama airs this Summer on TBS.
Or not. It got postponed because of Covid-19. I forgot to post that.
But it will be aired this Spring instead.
Dragon Zakura 2 to air this April
'Dragon Zakura' will air on TBS' Nichiyou Gekijou time slot beginning in April.
The sequel is based on Mita Norifusa's manga 'Dragon Zakura 2' that's currently being serialized in 'Morning'. It was originally scheduled to broadcast last summer, but had been postponed.

Masami Nagasawa cast in Dragon Zakura 2
Masami Nagasawa has been cast in the upcoming TBS drama 'Dragon Zakura 2.'
Nagasawa will play Naomi Mizuno, one of Sakuragi's former students.
In the 2005 drama, Mizuno had to give up on taking the entrance exam for the University of Tokyo due to her mother's illness, but passed when she took it a year later. Since then, she has become a lawyer, and is admitted into the law office run by Sakuragi. Together, they take on a new generation of high school students.
