The Cast
Characters played By:
Kanzo Dojima - Sanma Akashiya
Ryo Katase - Takuya Kimura
Yuko Dojima - Eri Fukatsu
The Story (From Offical Fuji web site)
Kanzo Dojima (Sanma Akashiya) is a shabby-looking cop. He's thinking of retiring and maybe starting a noodle shop. Ryo Katase (Takuya Kimura) is a mysterious man. Nobody understands what's going through his mind.
One day, these two men bump into each other. Focusing on a murder case, the story unfolds in an unexpected way. Maybe it was a mistake that the two men met... And there's Kanzo's sister, Yuko (Eri Fukatsu). She seems to have some connection with Ryo...
Heh my topic of a year ago is still alive!
Anyway, I've somewhat changed my opinion. Yutaka Takenouchi, Takashi Kawashibara and Fujiki Naohito all have the better looks IMO, but Kimura Takuya has something that they lack... I can't tell what it is, but he definitely has something... And that something makes him more popular than anyone and more handsome in some ppl's eyes (although I still think Yutaka Takenouchi in his younger years is about the most handsome asian you'll ever see("with love" anyone?). But takenouchi looks weird nowadays, a bit worn out... older, much older.
Oh almost forgot: Takuya definitely has the best hair of the lot... not only talking about the model of the hair, but also the state of the hair itself.
His hairstyle in Love Generation is the best. It's not short, it's semi long, and was wavey and old school looking. Very nice.

I think, for myself at least, that the appeal of Takuya really lies in the flexiblity of his looks. Sounds weird?
His face can turn boyishly good-looking, then the next moment immensely masculine; almost harshly, but heart-wrenchingly attractive. It's the perfection in the frame of his face- it's angular and his jawline cuts the precise angle that highlights his neck. Not to mention his eyes. You can catch everything in there, vulnerability yet self-assuredness, youth yet growing maturity...
And there's this strange bisexuality abt Kimura. i mean, no doubt pple like Yutaka and say, Sorimachi are darn handsome but how many actors can claim to be beautiful at the same time? It's warped, but eeriely alluring. Kimura can don a brushed brown cut and a tan and look dashing AND he can also leave his black hair shoulder length, wear lipstick and pout, and look darn good. It's incredible!!
And there's this just distinct, almost acid-sharp cool and confident sexiness that he emanates.
I haven't, truly haven't come across another artiste as ''devilish'' as Kimura. By devilish I imply the ability to morph into whatever he wants to portray at the moment, be it childish, sexy, gorgeous, or feminine. There's all the talk abt Wonbin resembling Kimura. Features-wise there is a strong resemblance but that's abt it. More impt than the features is the personality to one's appearance. Fan of WOnbin though I am, I concede that the latter just doesn't possess the irressisstability that Kimura has, just so naturally and so effortlessly.
I personally think that there's more about Kimura's acting ability than mere looks. Perhaps he derives his fame from his talents and yes, his boyish smile and hairstyle do help to draw attention and probably started the trend of shoulder-long hair for boys. But as for looks, they couldn't be compared to male artists of Hong Kong and Taiwan. In my opinion, Taiwanese actor Jerry Yen who starred in Meteor Garden does resemble slightly of Kimura Takuya with such similar hairstyle.
This is what J!-ent dorama database has got to say about it:
Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi (One Million Stars Falling from the Sky)
Script by Kitagawa Eriko ('Beautiful Life'). Sanma plays a detective, Kimura a chef who may be a murder suspect. Fukatsu plays the detective's younger sister. Also stars Igawa Haruka as a mysterious love interest.
RECOMMENDATION: Although this drama did well in it's opening and closing and received high ratings for those two episodes, this drama fluctuated up and down because people were turned off by the dark story of this drama. This has to be one of the weirdest Kimura Takuya dramas ever and perhaps the darkest. I don't know if I can recommend this one because it's pretty creepy and incestual. Definitely ends in an interesting manner but with all the incest between Kimura's character and his sister (which he doesn't know it's his sister), it's a bit f'ed up!
-----------------------------------------------
I dunno, doesn't sound too promising... the title is beautiful and you'd expect a good romance, but this sounds like the total opposite....

FUJI TV's title : "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes"
I just found it in the internet that the VCD for this show is already available on the Malaysia's based online store.
(But it's still on Chinese subtitle).

Would like to vote, unfortunately, i don't read Mandarin. I just wish that all websites come bilingual ie. in English and whatever language. Imagine how much information we can digest!
i used to scorn when pple say tt he is very handsome. sure, he's good at acting, i've watched some, but i don't find him charming UNTIL i saw hero! after watching hero, i realised tt his charm is from within himself not outer appearance. i totally agree with the statement that comment that kimura has something very special about him which made him so famous up till toda. a special aura i would say.

1. Flexible on roles – Looks comfortable with different roles (Sleeping Forest, Long Vacation, Love Generation, Beautiful Life, Hero, One Million Stars and Good Luck)
2. Great on screen pairing with many different style of leading actresses (Just look at the list of leading ladies he had paired with)
3. Acting skill (Range) – good in comedy, mysteries, love stories and dramatic show.
4. Personable look – Cool but not too model like. Boy next door.
5. He picked great dorama scripts (Look at the list mentioned in #1.above)
