If you all have noticed, some websites have ripped photos and information from JDorama.com and claimed their own.


To be fair, what you see on JDorama.com is a collection of information from various websites, but most sources are stated and often given credit whenever known.


Basically, I won't mind if anyone where to choose to "rip" information and pictures from this site, coz I don't really "own" the information and pictures anyway. But at the very least, I'd like to see some effort in design and more, rather than plain copying. Asking for permission and giving credit to the source would be of basic courtesy as well.


Of course, it doesn't really affect JDorama.com. But it sures irks me to see their sites in search engines.. hahaha..

I do belive you should water mark your pictures. I think you should use a transparent going across the picture jdorama or your name. So editing the picture would be extremly hard to do. Or you could go into extremes and have no right clicks so even if they print the screen it would distort the picture a bit. But that takes a whole bunch of coding, but of course I know you could do it. Other than that I think you should do a transparent watermark of your name or of the site. Because if you just put your water mark on the upper or lower part of the picture it would be easy to cut the water mark off. Well take care there and good luck.

I've thought of that. Seriously, the pictures looked ugly when I added those watermarks.. Thats the reason I've only added the logo at the corners of our feature artiste pix.

Thinking of nicer ways to do it.. I've over a thousand pictures to watermark.. and have to consider things like dark background, light background, etc..

As for right clicks, I'd rather not. I myself like to use the right click for other purposes, so I won't try to hamper a visitor's browsing experience here.

Would like to see the watermark to blend more into the background, that would be better for someone to enjoy the pic.

@Jpoptearz: You can still save the pic even disabling right click though. Well I don't think anyone will go those hassles for copying tho.

Wow you sure did water mark everything!!! This web page doesn't really containt about 1000 pics does it? You didn't water mark each and everyone?! Or you found some cool html way to water mark it? What ever it was, congratz!!!

Nope, the site doesn't contain about 1000 pictures. To be exact... I water-marked 2272 images.

Did the watermark using photoshop actions.
Thumbnails were done with ACDSee (much faster).

To be honest, I think those watermarks are a bit much. The are quite distracting. I know you put a lot of work into this whole site and it's frustrating to see people steal it, but it's also frustrating to fans of this site who have to look at their favorite idols with a big "Dorama.com" on their noses. Maybe something smaller could work.

In my opinion, all those theives can steal as much as they want. When it comes down to the quality of your site, I feel that most people will realize that what you built is much more worthwhile....

I may think of adding a nicer looking watermark... like less intense towards the center of the pic. (well, at least u won't see words running across their noses )

In any case, I'm trying to discourage the "stealing".. other visitors who chance upon the guilty sites won't know about jdorama.com. They'll instead be seeing the ugly versions only.

Well, strictly speaking, I do not really have copyright over the pictures and information. Only over the design and organisation of things... well, doesn't matter much does it

Oh dear, I wonder if what I did is ok. I've been trying to let go my dorama VCDs... And when interested people ask me to give them details... I direct them to jdorama's URL according to the drama.... Is it ok? I sometimes put the URL when I post in auctions... If it's not, pls let me know yuh...

I just noticed this thread now. And when I checked that Animeart.com, they got the artists pics and names all wrong. But then again, it could be because it was about a year ago. Oh wells,

Unfortunately, that's what happens. Well now in any case, they can't rip off this site anymore. They didn't even do it right in the first place.

i think u could still report it though, since u design the whole concept and everything, but thats still up to u.
