I don't know if it has been mentioned yet, but another way would be to download podcasts to your mp3 player if it supports them. There're quite a lot of websites serving podcasts, i think.

I'm currently a college student busy taking classes as a double major and I don't have time to take a Japanese language class. So I'm going to take a shot by buying beginner Japanese books to study on my own. I think it will be better by studying solo as well. I'll just give in my own time and try to find a Japanese friend to talk to in improving my verbal skills. I'm going to start studying today.

I think there are some online sites that might be pretty good... I think they might've been mentioned in other threads...

Hey if it makes you feel better, I was learning Chinese from a textbook and from music and movies, and my friend's Chinese teacher praised me that I was better at Chinese than his own students. I had only been doing it for a couple of months. (My friend hated Chinese so he sucks at it.)

I think the secret is passion. I enjoyed Chinese so much I was studying 8 hours a day sometimes, staying up well into the morning going over everything. I'm not saying you should do that, but it's so much easier to learn and succeed if you're enjoying what you're doing.
That's the best advice I can give.

I self learned ALL of Japanese,The only thing that am having a hard time with,Is how to make Sentences...

i learn japanesse using a book,,,it is called "Pelajaran Bahasa Jepang dengan BJ system"..it's an Indonesian - Japanesse book...i quite enjoy to learn using this book...so understandable
it teaches me to write kanji too...but still don't understand about it
this book is written by a Japanesse who lives in Indonesia for quite a long time..his name is Oku Nobuyuki.there are 6 volumes of this book...i still continue on the 2nd one....

beside that i also practice to listen the conversation,,which is i learn it by watching dorama and listening to Jmusic,,,although i found some problems with the pronunciation,,

but it's hard if we don't practice it, right???

I think it's very hard to get fluent without someone who is native Japanese or at least is fluent in Japanese to practice with.

You should try the audio lessons from www.japanesepod101.com , they are really quite good and they always have native Japanese speakers on each of the lessons.

your right but am very busy with other stuff..So i dont get to study that much..
