I've been learning japanese on my own for almost 3 years now (i told my brother to learn it with me, but he's just a ӂҁj@i learned the basics from different web sites, then i did most of my studying from pimsleur chapters and Rosetta stone.

I played that game before! ^^
it was kindof weird so i deleted it. maybe i'll download it again.

Right now i'm using ->This<- site for learning. it's pretty good. You can ask one of their 3 or 4 teachers something and they'll have your question answered within 2 days.
There's 5 courses with about 12-13 lessons in each.
they've also got alot of shows that you can watch to help with your japanese.

You're right. Japanese IS groovy.

thanks so much for the website!!! Yeah

For those struggling with kanji (like me) there's a really nifty converter here http://nihongo.j-talk.com/parser/index.php that will convert kanji to hiragana or even to romaji... very cool!

Good to see that native Japanese speakers are posting lessons here!
I couldn't tell whether your lessons were free from the website, but from the one I read, it looks fairly solid.

Anyway, I'm going to merge this with the proper thread, but great site!

i recently bought some Kanji Cards from the Japanese bookstore, to help with my self-study on Japanese. I plan on using some other books as well for reference and some online study. I hope to expand on my limited Japanese skills and learn how to read some basic Kanji, as well as Kana characters.

LiveMocha bills itself as the social way to learn a language. Their system combines self paced lessons, a interactive community with tutors and the ability to talk to native speakers around the world.

Haven't tried it yet so don't really know anything about it.
