Miho Kanno to star in TBS Fall drama

Kanno Miho will be making her return to dramas for the first time in four years when she takes on the leading role in the TBS Autumn 2016 drama "Suna no Tou ~ Shirisugita Rinjin" (The Sand Tower ~ The neighbour who knows too much) which will be shown from October in the Fridays 10pm timeslot. She last appeared in the FujiTV Autumn 2013 drama "Kekkon Shinai" before she got married to Sakai Masato in April 2013 and gave birth to their first son last August.

Kanno plays the role of Takano Aki, a 38-year-old housewife who aspires to live in a high-rise condominium apartment and finally realises her dream with her husband who is a salaryman, son who is in senior high school and daughter who is in kindergarten. However, she finds that her new life is far from ideal as she meets a strange neighbour who causes a lot of trouble that leads to her isolation from the other housewives living in the same block and the gradual disintegration of her family. In addition, she also has to contend with jealousy, vanity, peer pressure and discrimination among the residents of the high-rise condominium through being pressured to pay 5,000 yen for a lunch or take part in events such as the Halloween celebration.

Filming begins in early September.

Miho Kanno to appear in TBS drama special "Leaders II"

Kanno Miho will be appearing in the upcoming TBS drama SP "LEADERS II" which is expected to be shown in March this year.

The drama which is based on the true story of Toyota Motor Corporation's history, describes how the lead character Aichi Saichiro (Sato) devotes his life to making automobiles in Japan and continues from the first part shown in 2014. Kanno will be playing iida Kiyo, the proprietress of a kappo-ryotei restaurant Naritatei which is frequented by Yamazaki Wataru (Uchino Seiyo), the sales manager of Aichi Motors. As she is impressed by Yamazaki's passion about his dream, she supports him silently from the sidelines. Filming was done in Kyoto.

Kanno said that she had watched the previous drama SP and was honoured to be given a chance to participate in this sequel. Although she felt sad that the filming ended too quickly, she is eagerly anticipating how the final product will turn out.

Miho Kanno to appear in NHK morning drama "Hiyokko" starting in week 14

Kanno Miho will be appearing in the ongoing NHK morning drama "Hiyokko" from week 14 onwards i.e. 3 July to 8 July which makes it her second consecutive appearance in a morning drama since the previous season's "Beppin-san". She will be playing the role of a top actress Kawamoto Setsuko who started her career as a child actor and meets the heroine Mineko (Arimura Kasumi) at Suzufuritei as a customer. When Mineko helps Setsuko by chance, this marks the beginning of their unlikely friendship.

The scriptwriter Okada Yoshikazu said that he had wanted his trusted comrade Kanno to take on the role of Setsuko so he approached her about it quite some time ago. However, she was already scheduled to take part in "Beppin-san" then. Nonetheless, Okada still wanted her to play Setsuko so he was glad that she could take on the role especially since the relationship between Setsuko and Mineko is a very important element in the second half of the story. Kanno commented that she had worked with Okada many times to date but this is probably the most gentle story from him to date and she is honoured and very happy to be able to participate in this drama and work with the cast and staff.

Miho Kanno pregnant with her second child

Miho Kanno and husband Masato Sakai are expecting their second child.

On her agency's official website, Kanno said, "At this time, I have been blessed with my second baby. I want to prepare myself for a winter birth. I am nervous at this age (Kanno will be 41 next month) but the joy of gaining another family member, we are looking forward to that day. I am getting strength from my husband, our son, and the new life within me."

According to her agency, Kanno will continue working while monitoring her physical condition.

Miho Kanno has announced the birth of her second child.

In the announcement, Kanno wrote, "At this time, our second child, a baby girl has been born. Thanks to everyone, both the baby and I are healthy. I feel irreplaceable joy that a new member has joined our family. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me from the bottom of my heart."

Miho Kanno to star in NTV Winter 2021 drama

Miho Kanno will star in NTV's upcoming drama 'Uchi no Musume wa, Kareshi ga Dekinai' which airs beginning in January.

An original screenplay by Eriko Kitagawa, Kanno plays romance novelist and single mother Aoi Minase. She is worried about her otaku daughter who doesn't have a boyfriend. However, a certain event triggers her daughter to decide to fall in love. It will be directed by Seichii Nagumo and Hidemi Uchida. The last time Kanno played a lead role in a drama was in 2016.
