(This message will be edited/updated from time to time)
This is a general guideline to those who wish to add any particular drama, artiste, picture, or feature artiste to the database. Future updates of this website will depend largely on user contributions, so do read carefully before any submission.
Information on dramas can often be found on the official tvstation websites (like www.fujitv.co.jp and www.tbs.co.jp). It helps alot if you understand Japanese.
Currently there is no automatic way to do all these (not yet! ) so all new information and pictures should be posted in the Corrections/Additions to Drama Database thread.
The following lists the information required for each contribution, as well as their respective explanations and requirements.
General Guidelines
Names
All artiste and character names must start with the family name followed by given name.
e.g. Sakai Noriko instead of Noriko Sakai
Dates
All dates submitted must adhere to YYYY-MM-DD (that is, 23 June 2003 should be 2003-06-23)
Pictures
Generally, your pictures should be large and clear. However, refrain from sending me humongous file attachments. If there's really a need, leave me a PM and I'll make arrangements separately.
Dramas
When providing information on existing dramas, please provide the link to the details page on jdorama.com. If they are new to the database, just indicate that they are new.
Drama Title:
Full title of the drama, usually in Romaji or English
Drama Title (SJIS):
Original title in Japanese Shift-JIS encoding
Drama Title (English):
English title, or any other known title
TV Station:
Producing TV station (Typically should be one of the following: 'Fuji TV', 'TBS', 'TV Asahi', 'NTV', 'NHK', 'TV Tokyo', 'KTV', 'YTV')
Duration:
Number of episodes, specials or movies
Date Start:
First day of telecast (YYYY-MM-DD)
Date End:
Last day of telecast (YYYY-MM-DD)
Viewership:
This is the average percentage of viewership registered in Japan when the drama is first telecast.
Synopsis:
Brief introduction to the drama, to be kept to 1 or 2 paragraphs. (DO NOT reveal too much of the drama here!)
Credit:
Name of person/organisation who wrote the synopsis. Put your name if you wrote it yourself.
Pictures:
Scans of VCD, DVD and CD Soundtrack box covers are accepted. Ideally, the dimensions of the pictures should either be 100x150 or 100x100, depending on its shape. However, you can submit the original sizes if you're unsure of how to resize them.
Screen captures of the drama title are also accepted. Please provide the pictures in their original resolution. (vcds: 352x288)
Drama Cast
List of artistes who played a role in the drama. When providing a list, start with the leading roles first.
Artiste Name:
Full name of the artiste.
Character Name:
Full name of the role the artiste acted in.
Character Name (SJIS):
The above name in Japanese Shift-JIS encoding.
Character Age:
Age of the artiste's role.
Soundtrack/Theme Songs
All songs/themes related to the drama. Typically the main theme song, and maybe a list of the songs in the original soundtrack.
Title of Song:
Full title of song.
Title of Song (SJIS):
As above, in Japanese Shift-JIS.
Name of Artiste/Singer:
Full name of artiste singer or group.
Name of Artiste/Singer (SJIS):
As above, in Japanese Shift-JIS.
Lyrics of Song:
Provide lyrics in plain text, no colours or fanciful text.
Lyrics of Song (SJIS):
As above, in Japanese Shift-JIS.
MIDI:
MIDI file of the song. Please name it to all lower case alphabets, with spaces replaced by underscores.
e.g. Hidamari no Uta should be named hidamari_no_uta.mid
Ringtone:
State the range of phone models applicable together with the notes.
Drama Links
Links dedicated to the drama. Do not provide links to general dorama or idol websites.
Website Title:
Original title of website.
Website URL:
Full URL that starts with "http://"
Website Description:
Give a short description of the website, typically a list of things you can find on it.

Artistes
When providing information on existing artistes, please provide the link to the artiste details page on jdorama.com. If they are new to the database, just indicate that they are new.

Full name of artiste.

Artiste name in Japanese Shift-JIS encoding.
Height:
Height of artiste. (usually in cm)
Weight:
Weight of artiste. (usually in kg)
Blood Type:
Blood group of the artiste.
JPop Group:
Name of any JPop Group this artiste belongs to. (e.g. V6, SMAP, Morning Musume, etc)
B/W/H:
Bust, waist and hip measurements. Just for information sake.
Birthday:
Date of birth of artiste. (YYYY-MM-DD)
Sex:
Male or Female ONLY! (for those "converts", just state the new gender)
Artiste Photograph:
Clear photograph of the artiste (frontal view) with good view of the face. Image size should be at least width=200 pixels and height=300 pixels.

Feature Artistes
A random feature artiste appears in the first page of JDorama.com. If you wish to contribute to this list, please provide the following:
Name of Artiste:
Full name of the artiste you want to be featured.
Photograph of Artiste:
Must be a good, clear photograph with dimensions of at least width=400 pixels and height=450 pixels.
Introductory Paragraph on Artiste:
Give a short paragraph writeup to describe/introduce the artiste.
Just a note, that you can just provide the introductory text for the artiste. I usually have the resources to get a nice photo to be used.

Nope, no more. Users tend to abuse it by repeatedly clicking on their favorite drama/artiste to rig the "views". It wastes bandwidth and $$$. _________________

thanx for the info ^.^ but i tohught u told me maximium view for one ip address is only 1 time!?!?!? but i'm happy now . . .cuz my takki and tsuyoshi is on featured artists instead hohohohoho

Well, a visitor's IP address may change.
Some people even write in complaints that the number doesn't jump when they try to click on it again and again.
Anyway, its not an accurate measure, so I've taken it out. Saves on many problems. _________________

Not sure where to post this. Is there a place to ad people missing from a drama. Example Kago Ai was in Kochira Hon Ikegami Sho. She is mentioned in the profiles for Kochira Hon Ikegami SHo 2003, 3, and 4 but not the orginal. Who should people go about notifying the mods to add someone??? I am sure there is a thread I am just not sure which one... _________________

J-movies are typically posted in the J-Ent forum.
Movies that are directly related to existing dramas can be included in the same drama thread, I think... If anyone thinks otherwise, lemme know.
