I've just finished watching the whole 11 episodes... This drama is completly awesome...
I've never watch such a jdrama... well, this is a "new genre" for me, the story is really well put together, each episode keeps you spellbound... and the 2 main characters are acting soo well!!! (and the little yukiho as well!) ...
I was in from the very beginning, the very precise moment when yukiho left ryo bleeding on the ground... that was so curious... they seems to knew each other but the girl didn't even give her hand! I really couldn't understand and that was such an odd beginning...
I don't want to say much about the drama because I realize personally that I shouldn't read any summary of a drama before watching it because sometimes if you do that, watching the damn 11 episodes is sooo boring... ( I've experienced that with Sekai no Chuushin de Ai wo Sakebu where the first episode shows the boy with the girl's ash... you know immediatly what's going on! ...boring... ). It was not the case of Ichi Rittoru no Namida that I didn't know anything about the story... and that I've cried each minutes of the 7 last episodes...
Besides, Byakuyakou is not one of those stereotyped drama about naiv friendship and love... ties are much more complicated and deeper... well... see... it's not like Tatta Hitotsu no Koi where you guess well from the first episode the end of the story... (damn! I dared say it! ... preparing for receiving some pro-kamenashi's punches ^^)
That's why I really don't know why the Japanese didn't really like this drama (Viewership ratings only 12.28%!) and there are so less opinion on the drama from the member of jdrama.com!!! Maybe you've not finished watching it yet? ^^ highly highly recommanded! _________________

This drama is a love story between two children forced to commit murders in order to protect each other. The drama follows the events that take place afterwards in their lives, each event more complicated, each event more terrible, for one simple goal: to walk together beneath the sun once more.
This is the darkest drama I have ever seen. There isnft a single ray of light in it and while watching I felt like I was drowning in the darkness. I wanted to stop watching, but I couldnft. I didnft like this show.
But it is brilliant.
Why are people bad? How do they become bad? Can you blame children for their actions? When do they become adults? This drama really makes you reevaluate rather dangerous morals. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster of emotions while watching. They were only childrenc and this must happen in life every dayc. This is the second drama (Ichi Ritoru no Namida being the first) that has ever hit me emotionally and mentally this hard.
Every single actor/actress in this drama was brilliant, especially Yamada and Ayase. Never have I felt for, nor hated, two characters more.
This drama was sickening to watch at times and I felt dirty throughout most of it. I will never ever watch it again.
I donft recommend this drama at all. And yet I do. _________________

A fine, fine, excellent review, Wynter...it's easy to see how conflicted you are about this one...that's the sign of a great drama and of a very astute viewer ...
You were fortunate to be able watch it so quickly, so that you didn't lose the story line...
I broke a personal rule and watched it as soon as the subs became available...so it took me a year and some to watch it...diluted the impact, but even so, I knew I'd seen an impressive work... _________________

I always wait until all subs are out before watching a drama for the very reason you mentioned above.
I don't know what it is about the drama. It was written nicely and carried out perfectly. I thought about it all last night and couldn't sleep properly.

I was really upset that Yukiho couldn't end her hell and walk with Ryo in the life after death, but then realizing that she's living so that all he did for her was worth it made me even more upset. Such a vicious cycle!
