Johnjean--did you ever see I Want to Be in Love with Miho Kanno? I wish all the Churasan fans could see it and see how different she is, how sweet and vulnerable.

I have two copies of that. The first was a VCD set I bought with horrible
subtitles. I later found a better copy on one of the trackers. Miho is great
in this. I wish she would do more comedy or light drama. I really liked
her in Ai no Uta too. And, of course, I think she's great in Churasan.
I know what you mean. I can catch the show only if I rush right home from my buddhist temple in Flushing and I have no other events planned. Which means that all other drivers on the road at that time should watch out for me! LOL! I have caught the show in past few weeks. It is getting better every week. BTW yes the Dad does look like Mortimer Snerd.
Enna,
FYI I graduated from Flushing HS. Albeit probably before you were born... June 1949. I think the buddhist temple was there even then. And for my last year of school I lived at the YMCA across from the school on Northern BLVD. Down where Northern meets Main ST, there used to be a theater 'RKO Keiths' I think it was called and I was an usher there. You're stomping in my old stomping grounds

Johnjoen--
Oh those subtitles! They were at once hysterically funny and tragic, the tragedy being that I simply could not tell what these actors were really saying for at least a third of the series. I wonder what it would be like to see the second version you own...it would probably be a revelation. Someday I will dig it up. I don't know anything about Ai no Uta, but I will look into it...thank you for the tip.

Enna--if you decide to look for a new techno toy, you can check out Costco, Best Buy, PC Richards, Circuit City, and Amazon.com. I am so sorry to hear the reason for your relative silence of late, and I look forward to your full-throttle return to the forum.
Thanks harriet I appreciate your heartfelt sentiments. Hopefully I will feel like joining in the fun soon. Also thanks for your tips on the other stores.

Ralph,
No believe it or not I was in this world in the year 1949. Still in diapers, but here nonetheless. I don't know the last time you were out this way Raplh but Flushing has many different types of buddhist temples in it now. In fact the Flushing community probably has the largest Asian population of all the boroughs of NYC. I think that the YMCA is still on Northern Blvd. I will have to go check to see what the old 'RKO Keiths' has become. My temple is on Parsons Blvd. Your old stomping grounds is still a lovely place.
Back to Churasan....I did see this past Sunday's episode. It was good to see Eri moving out and reaching for her dreams of becoming a nurse.

You are making me homesick I was only back for one year in 1955. I found an aerial picture of Flushing HS on the internet and can't believe how huge it's become. During my time there was only the Southern V shaped buildings in existence. I've heard that Flushing has become an Asian dominated community. That makes me want to be there even more since I'm so heavy into Japanese dramas now. Would I see Eri and Sakura there?

@Ralph:
You are overdue for another visit to Flushing! I think most of the Asian population in Flushing is Chinese & Korean. There are also Vietnemese, Malaysians and Thai. Flushing actually is a melting pot that has many nationalities, not all of them Asian. I don't think many Japanese live there so Eri and Sakura might not be wandering around. You live in CA so I think Eri and Sakura might be out your way.
I noticed that we got some new posters in the Churasan thread over at the japan-guide forum.

We've had a few comments about this in the "What Dramas are you watching now?" thread, so I thought I'd bring this thread out of mothballs. Goya Man, ganbarre!!!
