I think she did her best work in Sweet Home. The main focus is about Tomoko (and her neighbors) trying to get their kids in the best school. You have some great support, especially for Kaneko Fukaura as her next door neighbor and Hiroshi Fuse as her husband, but the bulk of the work is done by Tomoko.
In Ohsama no Resutoran the storyline is about getting this once great restaurant back in shape. Plus you have a lot of great actors (Kyoka Suzuki and Takehiko Ono to name two) and for several of the episodes it focuses on different characters at the restaurant and Tomoko has very little to do. That being said, it was still a great drama, overall better than Sweet Home but not as big a role for Tomoko.

She caught my eye in Double Kitchen... It helped that they were broadcasting it locally, too.

Good show. Great comedy. Reflective of better economic times for the Japanese as compared to now.

This news just made my day, and month, and year!!
Tomoko Yamaguchi to star in first drama in 16 years
It has been announced actress Yamaguchi Tomoko will come back to star in a new Fuji TVfs drama series as a wife of the lead role, Abe Hiroshi. This new drama is scheduled to air from October, every Tuesday at 10:00, but the title is not decided yet.
Yamaguchi will star in drama series first time in 16 years, after popular drama eLong Vacatione(1996) which marked the audience rating of 36.7% as a highest figure.
This is the original script by film director Koreeda Hirokazu, and his first script for a drama series. Koreeda is famous for the movie gDare mo Shiranai Nobody Knowsh which Yagira Yuya won the Best Actor Award at Cannes(2004). The drama tells about a salary man(Abe) who is in his forties, struggles with troubles of his parents, wife(Yamaguchi) and child. This will be Koreedafs third time to work with Abe; movie eAruitemo Aruitemoe(2008) and eKisekih (2011).
Yamaguchi commented about the script gWhen I read the script, I was like eInteresting! Want to see more as soon as possible!h Since I like a drama which full of dreams and hope, I am happy to join such a drama.h

I just hope the hype doesn't get so bad that no matter what they do people will be disappointed.

"Going My Home"
Geez oh, have I been out of the loop. You guys were talking about Tomoko coming back to TV in June, and here it is, September 22, and I just read the news for the first time.
Ah well, I would have gone nuts waiting for this show to start if I'd known about it in June.
Sucker's set to start on October 9. And they are giving it a two hour long first episode. _________________ Manga is to Literature
