I like Hikaru, too. But all my well-wishing won't help prepare her style into American mainstream. Her last American debut as a young teen didn't go too well. The American r&b/hip hop/pop/rock scene has its share of ethnically Asian talents--they're all just either the "forgettable" member of a band or 1/2 Asian. Take for example Amerie, who sang with L.L. Cool J on "Why Don't We Fall in Love." She's half Korean, half Black. But because people accept her as a Black person singing r&b, she fits into the stereotype and can sell better towards American r&b climates right now.
It took awhile for Hispanics, and the increasingly growing number of Caucasians, to be included as bonafide rappers or r&b singers.
I hope as much as anyone that Hikki gets accepted based on her skills (which, to be honest, aren't stellar with that vibrating thing she does too often, but is occasionally cute) and not on what ethnicity she is.
Hopefully, it won't be another horrible NERDS thing where the Black gets all the publicity and the Filipino dude, everyone says, WHO?

Well, I think people should stop thinking of it like that.
It's intentional he's not in the limelight, as Chad says he prefers it that way,
he likes staying at home with his family and doesn't even tour anymore.
And on another note, Utada was set to work with the Neptunes; I dunno
what happened to that; but I bet it would have been amazing.

Even though This Thread came out first, (not that I'm trying to be bias or anything) but I think given the circumstances, it should be merged together.
Arashi, what do you think?? These threads have only been made 1/2 an hour apart........ All up to you, whichever one you wanna close and merge and whatnot. _________________

Honestly, I think that would be a good idea. Over the past couple of months, I think there were about 4 different threads about Hikki. It would be better to have it all in one general thread than having seperate threads on sub-topics of the same theme. Just my 2.

Just got Hikki's Live Concert in Budokan 04 and I thought it was brilliant!! especially COLORS.. god I love that song... |
I loved all 2 hours of that concert. I loved the performances for the studio recording of Sunglass, In My Room, and the ending song B&C.
Hikki prancing around like a little girl = too cute.

Hahaha! I remember seeing those brothas' CD single at one of the Tower Records here in the heyday of the Backstreet Boys, 'NSync, whatever, and I figured, "oh, man, now Asians can brag 'bout their own boy group." I can categorically state that I've not heard a single note this group has sung or played; but, I guess they got some airtime in the Bay Area, eh, elt? And you're saying they're GOOD no less, eh?
Good to see you again on this board, elt, also you, too, eighty-six.
P.S. you know, I had a thought . . . maybe "Easy breezy, Hand me hankie, I'm nearly gonna sneezy" would work better, no?

Hahaha yea they got a lot of air time here! They were like a usual name here I guess. Maybe that's cause they came from the bay area, LOL
Haven't heard any Hikki songs on the radio yet but then again I don't listen to radio Just on another note, a girl who I think has every single bit of talent that Hikki does and should make an attempt at the US market would be Melody though. Too bad she doesn't have the backing like Hikki does.

Actually, almost anything would have sounded better than "You're easy breezy and I'm Japanessy."
On another note, has ANYONE heard any of Hikki's music on the radio? All my radio presets are hip-hop and jazz stations so I wouldn't know. Oh, the reason that I don't venture to other radio stations because the LEDs died on my CD player, as well as the CD reader itself. Damn the sun for killing my car's CD player.

Sounds like your car CD player could've used some easy breezies instead of the sun's oblitereezies. OK, I'll be quiet. Ya'll's come on down to Hawai'i (anybody watching the TV drama of the same name, by the way? The first show was abysmally horrendous [in terms of being representative of Hawai'i] but the next two shows that were aired were not bad at all, I must say; anyway, back to . . .) get in The Man's new kuruma and we can enjoy some M. Musume tunes; or whatever else discs you have. Elt' knows!

So I showed him how people in the Far East get down.....yeah another lyrical gem. My doubts for her are getting bigger and bigger as the day passes.
